You don't have to dive into it immediately, because there are more Vessel and Blurryface tracks to dive into. But when you are ready to move into the lore/Dema storyline the band is still in now, you'll want to go the following order: Heavydirtysoul (from Blurryface) -> Jumpsuit (Trench) -> Nico and the Niners (Trench) -> Levitate (Trench).

I always believe that the smartest people are the ones who ask the right questions. I never thought about why he has his back to the audience. But the most obvious reason I see is that his audience is the music industry and that he is with his fans. In a way he is advocating for the fans because if he caves to the pressures of the industry he would betraying them. Wow!
Also from what I understand the record labels came to them because they had such a large fan following and were selling out concerts. So did they really need the label? They have the fans and the fans have their back. With the fans in the background Tyler has all the leverage.

Yes, this is pushing back against the pressure from the industry to churn out manufactured “heartless” music. Tyler insists on complete artistic control and he doesn’t conform to expectations and genre boundaries. He can’t even describe the kind of music he writes.
He never intended to hit the mainstream, but this is the album that Stressed Out and Ride came from, which completely blew up, but as a result a lot of people didn’t focus on the lyrics and the message.
Tyler loves that floral kimono. He still wears it for certain songs in virtually every concert ;)
They filmed this concert segment for the music video, Tyler knew it would be dubbed and flipped the mic to show us it's not real. He has put the mic to his brain too. In a behind the scenes clip for yet another song, they also joke about the mic (and drums) not being plugged in/live.
They have other songs that mix genres and transition to EDM - they did this before it was common; this is why industry, including critics, told them to pick a lane, but they still haven't. And this is why i can listen to them on repeat, it doesn't all sound the same.
Even in 2022, Tyler was asked what kind of music they play. His response: "it's complicated."

I’m still kind of new to 21 pilots so I probably don’t know much more than you do. I have watched quite a few reactions to this song and you picked up on some things I didn’t even notice and neither did the reactors I watched. What you said about the shirt made a lot of sense to me. I also never thought about “Will they be alive tomorrow “ The way you interpreted it but it also makes sense to me lol . I think you did a great job breaking it down.

You were spot on with most of the meanings - Tyler was pressured to make hits on Blurryface by the label - which he did - but this is kind of his pushback to it
In the second verse where he raps and talks about lists - that's a reference to the second verse in Ride
Also not sure if Car Radio is one that is getting blocked but def need to do that one
Hey Zack!(again) 😂 2 TØP vids in 1 day. How awesome. I guess you’re liking them a little? This song always get the reactors saying to themselves, “what the F is this”. “What genre is this” etc. that what makes it so special. Anyway great reaction, and one part at the end that gets missed sometimes is when “fame and success” fall to their knees and kinda bow to Tyler because they couldn’t make him “give in” to their toxic traits. Keep up the great work, Car radio, Guns for hands, holding onto you from Vessel album or Ride from Blurryface I would recommend.

Amazing, aren't they? ❤ I am 50 and this was the first album that I could listen to and not skip a song. I am so happy that my daughter introduced me to them. They can put into words what I have fought with for years.
I've seen this official video several times, but I never realized what Tyler writes on the Hazmat suits until you paused and talked about the markings. He definitely wrote the band logo in a circle (I-/) and 100%. Thanks for figuring that out for me!

You nailed it! Great breakdown!! TOP is def a band with a personality. This one is great live! Ty will often sample his own music and blend their other song's verses into the mix. His creativity is def alive at shows!
Only things I'll add are that at the end, fame and success kneel to him, then he dances on their graves. Quite the flex there. Also, when he starts he's on a dark gravel 'back road,' on his own with toxic, unnamed fame and success following him, then once they're named, we segue into well lit edm mainstage. But TOP has the last word bc even that 'manufactured ' part they make their own. Awesome song!
Oh, and also also his other brother Jay Joseph raps and has stuff out now, too.

He may just want to do the Jumpsuit/Nico and the Niners/Levitate trilogy before Neon Gravestones. NG is great on its own but you get more out of it after being introduced to the Dema storyline.

You picked up on a ton of stuff, great job Zack. A little tip, whenever you hear that deep voice on this album, that's the character Blurryface who is the personification of Tyler's insecurites. Blurryface gets more fleshed out on the album Trench. Blurryface is also represented in videos with red eyes, think back to Tyler with a deep voice and red eyes at the end of the Stressed Out video. Oh and Zack is the young man sitting on the bed when they were at Tyler's house in that video!
