    This is a very comfortable bag despite not having heaps of padding on the shoulder straps or waist belt.
    Savotta make various sizes of side pockets, I personally use the side pockets for water bottles and a small axe or hatchet fits between the side pocket and sits in the small elasticated side pocket of the bag as will a folding bow saw.
    This was my primary bag but the last year or so I have been using the Fjallraven Singi Stubben with additional side pockets.

      I have a bottle pouch on one side of mine and a sustainment pouch on the opposite side, and actually I am thinking about just running two of the sustainment pouches I like how they ride closer to the pack, and u can use the side synch straps to go over the bottom and it makes for a nice and clean and comfortable carry.

    I have one and they are bullet proof. I have added a few Savotta additional pouches that takes it up to 50l. I have heard that the Pathfinder Scout Pack is a very close copy - impersonation is the best form of flattery... Savotta is not cheap, but I have a funny feeling that you will get your monies worth as it will last a very long time. Looking forward to your overnighter with it.

    I have the Savotta in S and L in green. I should have gone with brown since it doesnt look so military as green.
    The S is now my shopping bag after adding padded Särma straps (should have gotten the ones from Savotta instead) to it because what you can fit in it you can carry...while its small enough that it doesnt get too heavy for my fitness level.
    The L is ok but i dont like it. Its not as comfortable as my Osprey while the plus of durability adds quite a bit of weight. Now i got an ultralight 50L backpack that has nearly 3kg less weight. Especially with the new Ultra200 fabric ultralight backpacks got so much more durable that theres at least not for me any reason for the Savotta L.

    A 30 liter bag should be lots for an overnighter, I suppose depending on the gear. My work pack is the USGI Molle 2 3 day assault pack and I am pretty sure it is only 25-30 liters and I don't feel put out for a couple days bushcamping out of it.

  • @vonsprague7913
    @vonsprague7913 Před rokem +2

    When looking for a medium sized bag for Winter hiking and overnight camping I looked at 30l bags and eventually dismissed them due to the poor load carrying harness. Basically they just weren't comfortable. I finally decided on the Fjallraven Singi 48l and it's the singular most comfortable bag I have ever used. The problem with Molle equipped medium rucks is I want to put my 8l Tasmanian Tiger side pouches on them and it just overwhelms the harness making them extremely uncomfortable. 30l is more than enough space but I'd rather load 30l into a 48l ruck and have the far more substantial harness for my comfort. Nice first impressions video, thanks

      @RedBranchBushcraft  Před rokem +2

      I understand what you mean, I'd always rather more space, I've loaded this up to 41 pound , two 7 ltr sustainment pouches and a 5 ltr first aid pouch , it was fine when I was carrying it , over some rough terrain , with a camera in one hand!! Lol but I would like something bigger

    Can the US sustainment pack fit on the side? Doesn't that require 5 MOLLE attachment point in the width? So one on each side and then three free in the middle? What I mean is, isn't it a three MOLLE space on the sustainment pack between the two attachment point and not just two? (The Savotta is only four wide on the side, right?)

    Wallly- resurrected another one. To understand this pack, look at it’s
    Finnish border patrol brother. Thin
    straps are for a secure
    Mating of buttstock to shoulder as Vladimir Putin tries to infiltrate. Ditto the twin loops and shallow pockets for additional issue gear.
    I bought mine, added the small side pouches
    Aluminum frame, top and bottom straps and raincover. The sidepouches came right back off first hike. This bag is a 30L superb for bushwacking. The added weight and dimensions destroy the best feature and extended comfort. Need more room? Buy the LARGE. They are virtually waterproof. BUT
    Get the raincover. If you strsp an axe, Gallowglass ringsword or LAWS on the outside it negates curious onlookers.
