Kinda a crazy plot for a story, one thing I didn’t realize was that the woman and child in the beginning was the day he killed his mother.

The "kidnapper" is Sarao (the one at the start of the game). He's a mentally challenged man who grew up with an abusive mother until he eventually kills her (the blood and the body in the attic are hers). Because he's closer to a child mentally, he thought he was helping the sister as a friend. It's a tragedy all around.
