What a long way Fiji has come. She will always be my home to me. I was Born in Suva 64 years ago, born and bred in Fiji, I danced with the Indian youth, because " I mixed well with them and it was said I looked Indian.....lol", on our Memorable Independence Day celebrations at Albert Park, for Prince Charles. These were the some of the highlights of my growing up, looking forward to these 21 gun salutes, Hibiscus Fetivals where the RMF Band performed and the Changing of the Guard at Government House. I used to love all the Pomp and Pageantry, I think most of us young girls fell in love with their Red Uniforms...... lol. But all that changed somewhat over the years. So much has happened and people don't seem to be how they were in those days gone by. I would love to see, one more Hibiscus Float Day with all the Marching girls, schools, and the 2 Bands both Police and the RMF perform one last time in all their glory, how it was in the 1960-70's ......lol. Hopefully one day soon.
The Indian military march in a similar way as this. Due to shared british influences. But extremely exaggerated and with an arm swing that can kill. The border ceremony is very fun to watch. But really silly.
