    Though balancing her Russian-Jewish traditions with American customs can be challenging, Rebecca learns to let her heart take the lead.
    This is a fan made video. I was tired of asking for American Girl to make a promo video for one of my favorite American Girl characters. I decided to create one myself. To see American Girl's other promo videos:

    Out of all the American Girls, Rebecca is the one I have a better connection with because I am a Russian Jew, whose great grandparents came from Russian during Rebecca's time to America, and yes, they also spoke Yiddish too. I hope to get the doll since they didn't have her when I was a kid and would have loved her! It wasn't easy growing up Jewish in an area where there weren't any Jews and it seemed like only Christian holidays existed but not Jewish, but luckily I did grow up with both Hanukkah and Christmas. It was hard but I wouldn't change who I am.

      You did the right thing; there's a italian song of Pino Daniele (a famous songwriter of Neaples), which says: "resta accussì ma baby / me raccumande: nun cagnà"
      (English translation): "go on to be as you are, my baby / I advice you: don't change yourself".

      I'm shocked! When was the last time you were into American Girl, 2000? I would love movies of these characters, too, but the way American Girl is going, they can barely make a full book series for Claudie and Nicki and Isabel.

      What I love about Rebecca's story is that it shows how Americans had to realize their "Freedom of Religion" portion of the laws. During this time, people thought everyone had to be Protestant. You couldn't be anything different. But during the 20th Century, that was beginning to change.

    • @tolanstout
      @tolanstout Před 4 lety

      @@GenerationNextNextNext What a load of shit. First of all, Catholicism is not Christianity. It's a cult based on perverse traditions of men. Secondly, Jesus was of the actual tribe of Judah, not a Kenite or Ashkenazi imposter coming to this country and operating as a parasite on innocent people. This is complete propaganda. Wake up.

    Rebecca's class didn't decide to make the Christmas ornaments; their teacher did.

    • @GenerationNextNextNext
      @GenerationNextNextNext  Před 2 lety

      As someone who didn't grow up celebrating Christmas, many times I was taught that it was my own decision to make the decorations or politely refuse. Their teacher planned it, the students created it. I believe that makes up the whole class. Just to clarify why I stated it that way.

    • @TyrekeCorrea
      @TyrekeCorrea Před 2 lety

      @@GenerationNextNextNext no. The teacher was The Head of the class.. it was her decision to assign the project to the class and to command them to complete it in doing so. The only decision which rested with the students where this was concerned was that of whether or not to obey her, which, as you know, ultimately turns out to be the crux of the outcome of this plot.
      I was under the impression that the contemporary norm when it comes to responding to an occurrence of this nature is to respectfully decline to complete such a project and explain why, and speaking both as a person who has celebrated Christmas growing up and a person irrespective of that, it seems sensible and least problematic. When I was in fourth grade, my class teacher was Jewish, and she handled being surrounded by celebrants of Christmas with great poise; I'm very grateful to have been able to work with her, and her attitude was a big factor in our great success.

    • @GenerationNextNextNext
      @GenerationNextNextNext  Před 2 lety

      @@TyrekeCorrea Well, when you don't fit into the mainstream, you have to be on your "best behavior" because those who are of the majority will label you "problematic" otherwise.
      Teachers are "head of the class", but largely it's a classroom project, so that's why I worded it as such. I can understand how this created confusion. I do understand your point about the teacher being "in charge", though. I will take note of that and consider the way I word it in the future.

      You've transmitted pretty much Rebecca's entire story here; that's like giving people free access to the books. Retransmission is the type of thing the NBA and its broadcasters, for example, have established they'd pitch a fit over.
