In season 2 it took so much time to develop characters but still you don't feel for those characters, when harnev died, I sure doesn't give a dam about harnev.......... imagine ep 4 of season 1 it takes only 3 episode to established thrones charector when he died I cried my balls out
Mappa did the best job of their entire career, it was so relaxing to watch every scene of VS S2. You could have had added Gardar story as well.

The last episode of Vinland Saga Season 1 so tear-jerking. Askeladd's death indeed had a significant impact on Thorfinn and their complicated relationship was a central theme throughout the season.
Askeladd's character development throughout the series is indeed remarkable. At the beginning, he manipulates and uses Thorfinn for his own purposes, but over time, their relationship evolves. Askeladd comes to see Thorfinn as more than just a tool and starts to care for him in his own way, even though he may not express it openly. This complexity makes their bond quite compelling, and Askeladd's death leaves a void in Thorfinn's life.
Losing someone who played such a multifaceted role in his life can be extremely challenging for Thorfinn. Not only does he lose the opportunity to take revenge on the person he despised, but he also loses a mentor figure who taught him valuable lessons and pushed him to become stronger.
The emotional impact of Askeladd's death and the subsequent impact on Thorfinn's character development is a testament to the storytelling in Vinland Saga. It explores themes of revenge, loyalty, and the complexity of human relationships in a compelling and thought-provoking way.
askeladd did not have a character dev neither did he need one and he never really cared for him, he only cared for him as a useful tool coz all he needed to do was u get me his head, ull get urself a duel. Askeladd was only concerned about wales, the character dev happened for canute. But in the end when he said "become a true warrior", what he wanted thorfinn was to grow up. Askeladd cared for bjorn, u think he'd care the same way for thorfinn?
@@magic4694 He didn't lack concern for Thorfinn. To some extent, Thorfinn's presence was never bothersome to him. If he had no interest in Thorfinn, Askeladd would have abandoned him a while ago. However, the fact that he permitted the child to accompany his group of mercenaries demonstrates a certain degree of regard and admiration for the young boy. In contray Askeladd served as a mentor figure to Thorfinn, as evident even in his final moments when he inquired about Thorfinn's plans for the future, considering his impending death. This showed a genuine display of care and concern.

Despite being surprised by Thorfin's survival, it didn't indicate a lack of care on Askeladd's part. In fact, their bond only strengthened afterward. Askeladd understood that Thorfin was reckless, which was evident when he chose to confront Thorkel instead of fleeing with Kanute. This is why, during Askeladd's final moments, he inquired about Thorfin's plans for the future after his own demise.

Vinland Saga is a masterpiece because of the farm arc. I love it so much because it talks about human emotion and not just action. Its philosophy is so amazing. You have no enemies. Everyone is a slave to something

I think the animation in season one was great. It delivered the scenes perfectly where it needed to. That combined with the outstanding action animation plus some of my favourite background music. I think season one was perfectly animated.
i enjoyed every freaking seconds of this season my only complain is that sometimes it's too slow the scenes are there more than the time they should be in the screen still mappa adapt the manga beautifully hats off to the director and the whole team for giving peakland saga the adaptation it deserve

@Abhay Gusain Vinland Saga is perfectly rated according to me. There are many other animes that are really good (NOT COMPARING TO VINLAND SAGA), but you haven't even heard the name of them. That's what Underrated is. It is not widely known despite having a good story.
Respect your opinion 👍 but from my perspective It is a little underrated as many of my friends didn't even heard it's name.
It's probably the best anime this season and even the best anime to come in recent years. I have already been caught up with the manga and still feel like a breath of fresh air. It is a genuine and beautiful adaptation that definitely captures the essence of the manga and adds more to it.

VINLAND SAGA Season 2 is Absolutely Peak, in the latest episode when *Thorfinn* declared that he's going to run away basically proves that he's a better person than *Canute* but again both characters are written extremely well & their ideologies are definitely something you can understand but *Vinland* is the story that tells you how to become a better person & it slowly shows you that God has given us all the essentials to have a perfect life but we're the ones who don't know how to claim that that's why people are built with different perspectives & for Thorfinn even "Righteous Violence" is something that shouldn't exist 🛐
Hmm, I am always bad at expressing my feelings but as an anime only I just enjoyed S2 more than S1 & appreciated the time I spent observing Thorfinn grow & rest of the characters on farm move & interact. The weekly experience was magical.

As the story continues we all grew with thorfin, we understood what really war is. And what terrific things we all were enjoying

Understanding a war may hold back yourself from doing it but it doesn't seriously make any impact to the rival !! Why does people fight or do war ?? They must have reasons or motives for doing it. But ; we all know the futility of war. Then ; why is still happening ?? For Ego ?? Ideology ?? For Protect ourselves ?? For conquering something or jealous of something ?? Or ignorance ?! There has 2 extreme ; first of it is Everyone can your enemy or no one can enemy !! But ; most of stuck in the middle of this scale !!

Really didn't care about season 2 ... Didn't even watched it... I read manga back in 2019 and really loved it... Story is damn good... Each phase of thorfin's life shapes him into a better character (from warrior to slave then wanderer)

The reason we fail to notice the real meaning of stories like this is because of side characters, moments (funny/cute etc.) that people think are intended to lighten up the mood, but in reality most of the times they drag out the real meaning and understanding of the scene that was meant to be taken and throw that somewhere else (intentionally or un-intentionally). And this exactly is the area where Vinland Saga succeeds, it is absolutely delivering the real meaning that is meant to be taken from the story.

At first i missed that action of season 1 in season two but. it became way better in further episodes. episode 22 and 23 were the best. and also some moments like the misery that happened to Arnheid was heart wrenching and somewhat disturbing. but over all it was a good watch. probably the best Seinen Manga adaptation of the last 2 decades for me.
Man Thorfin was a badass But season 2 thorfin is on a another level.
As a manga reader, I can say Vinland Saga is a masterpiece, character development, story continuation & world building + philosophies or ideologies are all so much better (as I expect from a seinen genre like vagabond & berserk) and those who got bored of S2 are no more than idiots. Vinland Saga is not about violence but about not to endure it, also bored butts will get it in S3 what they wanted in S2. Ill say it again "Vinland Saga is a masterpiece"

Season 2 is mind blowing and a major reason of that is studio Mappa. Hats off to the studio
Vinland Saga s2 is the perfect sequel for S1. In S1 we only see the ruthlessness of war. A whole village is destroyed and killed but there was a bare minimum of emotion as the story was told from the perspective of warriors. S2 tells the story of those who suffered it provides the much-needed peace and emotions experienced by the oppressed. Yes, the first few episodes could seem boring but it has meaning and pays off in the last part of S2. The author of the Vinland saga is a genius. He treated the grave topic of war as it should have been.

When you said being empty is better than being drunk. And said some of us are also empty but in this era where we can seek pleasure easily where we can get distracted easily how can we fill ourselves with better things? Although they are also available but yet idk if I feel empty I seek it outside should I change something?
being drunk on something isn't essentially a bad thing if it doesn't harm you or anybody, if you are able to find your little work interest in this huge world, you will eventually become drunk on it. "everybody is a slave to something" .
yet if you are living a empty life , self loathing yourself, i would say stop doing it to you. if you are a human which you obviously are, you have every right to live, no matter what you did in your past. before being forgiven by others, you have to forgive yourself.
