ive said this on a few def leppard videos lately, im disabled and one thing 'my people' face a lot is people saying 'oh you cant do that, just sit there and be a good boy' because they automatically just assume we wont be able to do something, and that really winds me up, so i also love the way the bands attitude was not to kick him out and let him decide for himself whether or not he could carry on, we need more people like the def leppard boys with that attitude.
That would have to require skill beyond belief! He is living proof that human beings can find a way to overcome any diversity in their lives.Rick is such a huge inspiration and the definition of a real man.When you fall -you get back up.
What a great guy, and now this system/method Rick has developed has actually given DL a tighter sound. Talk about not giving up on life. A total inspiration to anyone experiencing tragedy.

I play guitar not drums but I cite Rick as inspiration to forge ahead. I used to play left-handed like Jimi Hendrix or Kurt Cobain even though I'm naturally right-handed (my left-handed aunt taught me so I just copied how she played.) Then after I broke my left hand riding my bicycle, I considered giving up on guitar but then my aunt shared Rick's story with me, summing it up by saying "If Rick could continue his music adventures with only _one_ arm, you surely can with _both_ of yours." So I started playing right-handed as my aunt and doctors thought that would strengthen the fingers on my left hand, which it did. So thank you for inspiring me to quit moping and get on with playing Rick, you are forever a hero and a legend!!!!
On hysteria the drums are programmed, just like on pyromania. Not because Rick couldn't do it but because of the way the producer choose to record the songs.
One of if not my all time favorite!!!!!! Rick Allen was, is, and always will be the Thunder God!!!!!!!! He’s a real inspiration to me!!! What I wouldn’t give just to say hello to him!!!!
I used to be a rock drummer for many rock bands in the 90's and I never wore shoes when performing at a gig. I had this thought that I wanted to "feel" the drum kit when I played it. I am an old man now and have gone to playing bass guitar as my primary instrument, but its still real fun to me to play the drums in my studio.
"Most days it sounds like we're building a garden shed..." Nothing but modesty. I've been fortunate to see him live twice and, even with one arm, he was, is, and always will be, the Thunder God. Oh, and Rocket, I always thought that live, it was probably some background recording trick. And, so, Rick continues to blow my mind!

True personal Rick Allen story for you all.......I was a MASSIVE Def Leppard fan in my teens...obsessed is a better word! I met the lads many times here in Melbourne Australia and I still have photos of me drinking at a pub with Rick and the rest of the band. But one visit and prank I'll never forget as long as I live......we were back stage for a meet & greet at The Melbourne Tennis Centre (now called Rod Laver Arena) in 1993 for the in the round Adrenalize Tour, I was 18 years old and was alone with Rick and Vivian Campbell and I was so excited......I asked them both if I could have my picture taken with them, then they suggested I get one of just the two of them.....so when I was taking the photo Rick kept telling me to move backwards for a better angle....who was I to argue with my hero so I kept stepping back, he and Vivian started to laugh as they completely stitched me up, I went completely ass up as I fell backwards over a stool/chair that I didn't realise was behind me.......Bastards the two of them lol Seriously they laughed so hard and Rick was so proud of his practical joke.....it was hilarious and they both apologised...whilst laughing their heads off (especially Rick) and they gave me a huge hug afterwards!! Later on Rick gave me a few of his drumsticks with his engraved autograph and we met years later and I showed him the pictures from years earlier and he still remembered me and his practical joke lol Rick if you ever read this comment....thank you my friend and God Bless🙌😊
Amazing kit. A great drummer prior to the accident, On through the night etc, so he has just adapted but you have to have the initial talent to be able to do this

A lot of folks seem to stress what a humble guy he is. It’s easy to figure. He views himself as a musician, not a rock star, and is never truly satisfied with his work. He has to remain humble in order to improve. It’s the only way, otherwise, suckage ensues.
I remember my sister used to use this kind of scented chapstick stuff when I was really young and one day I smelled it somewhere, and -- bam!!! a flood of memories came rushing into my mind instantly. Very strange.

Rick has been my biggest inspiration and favorite drummer for 33 years now. He's an incredible man.
Might be interesting to point out that Hysteria, their biggest selling album was done by Rick with one arm!
