Oh my gosh. The way she is talking about numbing cream around 9 minutes is just so genuine and honest and cute.
So much for NOT advertising your package!! Girl, what am I going to do with you?!! I tried sending my encouragement boxes anonymous, but my blankets give it away every time. I’m glad you liked everything! I was nervous through my first infusion, but it’s surprising how quickly you pick it up. I’m surprised I can pull my peripheral IV so easily now too! Blessings to you!

Janiece “YOU GOT THIS”....don’t ever doubt it or yourself....I am rooting you on and being your cheerleader from here...Jac is the PERFECT friend that understands you and how to do the port...ask as many questions as you need until you are confident and comfortable....when I was in the military and in boot camp the company commander told me “don’t be afraid to ask so many questions because the stupidest question is the one you don’t ask...so ask all the questions you need”...it is TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE not vlogging it yet...I would hate to see you not doing something right because you are paying to much into filming it...sending you ALL my love and positive energy from NY❤️💋
Btw: my Gracie (a Yorkshire Terrier) does the same with the mail...she thinks it’s always for her and she will literally attack the mail that she rips it in half...but she gets monthly subscription boxes from a few places where she gets toys (like she needs more toys) and treats...she just got one today that I am going to post on here if you want to see her...and subscribe if you want...April 1st I am launching my own vlog and blog...so it should be fun...love you❤️

I have had a port for 5+ years. I access my own port and don’t use numbing cream. Sure, it hurts a little, but after a while the numbing cream becomes a hassle to use. Ask about a smaller needle in gauge and length. I use 22g and 3/4” needle. Doesn’t hurt so much. Good luck and pretty soon it will be so routine you will be able to access and deaccess without thinking about it.

You got this! I’m 8 months into my port and I have enough scar tissue built up that I don’t feel much more than a pinch nowadays when I access. And with showers, I bring either a large washcloth or even an old t shirt in and use that to hold over my port as extra protection - I’m too paranoid to trust waterproof tegaderms 😂

Great mail vlog I want to send you some stuff again I will when I have the money ❤️❤️ port access is easy once it’s done me and my hubby access my port all the time I don’t use numbing cream you just get used to it 😊 well for me lol atleast you have your infusions now ❤️ deacessing is so easy trust me

With the numbing cream patients say to wait at least an hour for it work good. I don’t think you will have to use gallons but a good amount might work better. It should come easier with time. Keep up the great work Janiece! :D
Glad u got threw it. I have double port and i can say i am always a nervous wreck lol. It is uncomfortable. And the shower thing a pain lol. There are some things u can buy for protecting the port from getting wet ask ur nurse. Hope all goes well.

Did you cover your port for your shower? You can get Aqua Guards through your infusion pharmacy. They are 8”x8” squares of “plastic wrap” with adhesive along the edges. They are more sturdy than plastic wrap though. If not, use a plastic sandwich size baggy and tape to cover your port site. I still get some water on my port site and I dry it off quickly when I get out of the shower. Remember you already have a Tegaderm bandage covering it and these are extra precautions. It is scary at first but you will be a pro in no time.
And Cheer up soon you'll be able to do the ports yourself just like Jaquie !! If you want to watch The Frey Life has a port access video that's how I learned about a port !!! I wish I could access the port myself but I'm in a nursing home I'm 45 but I'm also disabled in wheelchair.

I don't use Emla anymore and I access myself now. You'll get used to it, it's nerve wracking when you first do it yourself Lol. I remember my first time the nurse accessed me, it was so painful coz it was in the wrong place it was RIGHT under my scar.
It will get better, I just did a new port change, using my laptop. After a while it will get better!.
If your port is still tender, it should definitely get easier and less painful with time. I don’t use numbing cream and it’s really hit or miss with me. Sometimes I don’t feel the needle at all and sometimes it does hurt (but like you said, nothing like most peripheral IVs).

I’ve used the numbing cream a few times now & found that I need to put it on for at least 2 hours for my skin to become numb. Maybe your skin needs more time too.
All I can think about is how do you feel? Are you feeling better after your infusions?
The infusions help but the Abdominal pain is still kicking my butt😅

I think we are all just super greatful that you are getting fluids :) Um, all though I was cracking up You do have a needle in you! not that comfortable needles don't get easier..... at all! (Raw truth) Numb away...... maybe closer to the time of access.
I have a really bad needle phobia. I hope that I never end up in a situation, like yours, where I have to rely on a port for fluids and vitamins. I can pretty much guarantee that I'd be just as much of a nervous wreck as you seem to be... =/
When it comes to things like blood draws and flu shots, I've found that finding some sort of mental distraction for my brain seems to keep it (my brain) from making the pain feel any worse than it actually is... I think the 'mental distraction' that has worked the best for me has been to look away, sit as still as possible, and then focus on breathing in and out until everything is over. I wonder it that would help you at all?

Don't worry about vlogging when you need time to concentrate on other things. At least you can keep your port accessed for a week give or take so less needles overall.
I hope your infusions help relieve your cough as your body will start to get the fluids it needs
The cough is from asthma
Because I'm a smart alec...light-year is a measure of distance, not time XD But still, use numbing cream and be proud if it helps you! Why add more pain, right?
