      I think atletico madrid would be the perfect fit. Familiar language with an argentine coach and many argentine teammates there plus atletico needs a good striker. Also julian isn't your typical box striker who just sits in the box waiting for a pass like haaland, lewandowski or ronaldo. He does a lot of extra work which is why scaloni prefers him to play alongside messi. I wish he could've gone to barca but the environment rn is not conducive

    If Argentina wins the Olympics he will have won everything there is before the age of 25. Man City will have to renegotiate his contract and they'll never pay a bench player 300K a week to be the back-up to Haaland, as for when he is used as a starter it takes quite some time to get back into the groove when your manager is playing you as a winger or extra midfielder.

      Haaland has 15 goals and 8 assists in 22 career matches against Arsenal, Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Newcastle. Not to mention scoring against the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG, Dortmund, Leverkusen, Leipzig, Sevilla, Besiktas, Lazio, and Napoli. You’re talking about Real Madrid. Actually be specific. Because Haaland has scored against virtually every other top opposition he has ever faced in his career. This whole myth that he doesn’t show up against top teams is nonsense and based on a ridiculously small sample size that people have run with.

    • @robertobarcenas7834
      @robertobarcenas7834 Před měsícem +2

      There’s a reason why teams don’t use real strikers now. There’s a reason why they are rare. Few teams use them, and tactics have evolved to take care of a single striker. That is why it’s hard for defenses to take care of two strikers. If it were as simple as having a big boy up there and just giving it to him then yeah but a big man can’t be as fast. Alvarez today is perfect as a winger or a false 9 who runs rampant (Argentina). If haaland gets bullied by those defenses you think my Julian Alvarez is going to body and run past them?? Defenders are fast today not just big.. athleticism is it in soccer, thats why all these creative players don’t make it in the premier league, they get tackled and say screw that I’m going to Spain.. even though i believe Alvarez is in my opinion better and more effective, essentially both haaland and Alvarez would have just about the same impact in this Manchester city team. Until guardiola leaves, then maybe attack will be prioritized over defense. That means four people up front with hope that they will outscore and conceed less. Pep is as perfect as it gets with tactics. (Saying that Madrid is as close to gods in this sport as possible)

    It’s crazy to think that you feel bad for a player who has won a lot of trophies in almost every competition for club and country at the age of 24 and that’s the reality of Julian Alvarez’s situation at Manchester City. For the sake of his footballing career, it’s a no brainer for him to leave that club this summer because a player of his caliber is too good to a be a backup player and has to play on a team where he’s guaranteed first team football. I know there’s a stat that says that “Alvarez played the most minutes out of any player on Manchester City last season, it makes no sense for him to want to leave the club”, if you’re a person who just looks at statistics to try and make a point and push an agenda about a player’s situation, you’re absolutely delusional because yes he had a great season where he had 19 goals and 13 assists 32 G/A in all competitions and he played a lot of games, but context is the most important thing here.
    People need to realize that from August to February, they were without Kevin De Bruyne their most influential player for the first half of the season, Erling Haaland missed a month of football due to injuries and this meant that Alvarez was playing every game and most of the time when he was on the pitch, are we forgetting that he was playing out of position and as soon as both of them were fully fit, he was relegated to the bench. If you’re watching the games with your eyes week in week out, you would know that as long as Haaland is at Manchester City, he won’t be their first choice striker over him because as terrible as his linkup play can be, at the end of the day, he’s guaranteed to score goals and this puts him in a situation where he’s on the bench and playing in a position that doesn’t suit him. Assuming this team has everyone fully healthy there isn’t any room for him in their best starting lineup. If the stat was accurate about him playing more minutes than any other player on the team, we wouldn’t be talking about him leaving the club, what I’m saying is that whether Alvarez goes to Atletico Madrid or another club, he deserves to be a starter elsewhere.

    If he wants guaranteed consistent playing as a forward. What a lot of people are misconstruing about his playing time last season is that De Bruyne’s long absence with a hamstring injury and Haaland being out for several months created substantial playing time for Alvarez that won’t exist this season unless injuries happen again. Which could very well happen again and then open up another big opportunity to play again. But if he wants to be the out-and-out number 9 at a club, it’s not happening for him so long as Haaland is there.

    Thats the thing with Pep, right or wrong, Alvarez can win whatever he wants and have them trophies on the shelf, but its down to Pep's management not him as a player. We aint talking about Suarez at Liverpool or Zidane for France who have taken their team to another level. Alvarez is a good player who is part of something bigger. If you ask me, thats the way it should be everywhere, but not everybody is ready to melt into something bigger than them in the long term. Especially with Pep, whereas Ancelotti follow the same state of mind when it comes to a player but give them a lot more freedom so everybody feels like they still heavily are in the center of the project rather than just being part of it.

I think he make a mistake when he got to MC to extend his contract right away he should have waited longer so it would habeen easier for him to move on if things didn't work out as he hopped. Interesting discussion, but also funny in terms of the fact that ESPN commentators also play their roles in the debate: one of the studio ones, whether it's Craig, or Robson in this case, has to be the 'bad cop' and be incisive on stuff, while the others tone it down and perform the 'good cop' roles. As for the Grealish vs Doku and Haaland vs Alvarez debate, at their best, they simply have different roles: Grealish and Alvarez are better team players in terms of effort and combinative playing with minimal risks, while Doku and Haaland are better at destabilizing the opposition and produce the unexpected in key / tight games.
    I'm sure that for Pep, it's both a matter of roles in different games, but also a matter of the form these players are in. Other than that, let's admit it, bar Argentina where Lautaro fits that role perfectly, at City Alvarez fits better coming on as a subtitute, while Grealish' dip of form last season made Doku the obvious choice for Pep. Individually, if any of these think of leaving, they should take into account that they will not be as good or important as they are in this team - even if they would play as regulars. Atleti is a great team, but they were always figting against the current in Spain.

  • @piscesman54
    @piscesman54 Před měsícem

    Maybe the real question that needs to be asked here is why is ManCity not made to abide by financial fair play rules? How is it that a club can spend endless amounts of money to have world-class players sitting on the bench? And the FA, UEFA, and FIFA are all looking the other way? Granted, they're not the only club in that situation. But it's time to either force clubs to abide by the rules or scrap the rules altogether. What's the point of having them if they're not going to be obeyed?
    As for Alvarez, his track record speaks for itself. Robson's simplistic conclusion sounds very silly. The bloke is a WC Champion with 4 goals to his name. And he wasn't even a starter at the beginning of the tournament. He didn't do that by just running around. He's entering the prime of his career. Why should he sit around for another year at City? His lack of playing consistently in his position is affecting his performance with the national team, and in any Argentinean player's head, that is bummer. Football careers are very short. A player of his talent and stature should not be wasting time at a club that doesn't appreciate him. He needs to leave.
    Oh, and BTW, in the important games, Haaland was nowhere to be seen. He's a one-trick pony, and sometimes he can't even pull that trick off.

    There's a misconception that Grielish does or should play like Doku or a Saka. He is fast and a great dribbler, but doesn't have the explosive acceleration toward the touchline like Doku. At Villa, he was always more dangerous at the top of the box, right on the top left corner, and then driving right or passing. Pep is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole if he wants Grielish to play like a touchline sprinter. Pep could try overloading the left when Grielish is there but he uses that left as a diversion. Maybe Doku is a better fit if Pep wants his left wing to play like that, and maybe Grielish should find a coach who plays a system that suits him.

      He won't ghost into the box and get lucky bounces to score. His game became so predictable...
      Against Milan... He was pointing out to young Hamilton to pass back as he would normally do... Hamilton was brave took the risk... Beat his man with pace and made a cross for a goal...
