I love this version. Super stoked on it. The original meant so much to me. But since he's left me it does not mean the same and it hurts to listen to it. Now I can listen to this version and not attach it to anyone specifically. ❤️ Hate it when that happens. When you're with someone for so many years and you have so many songs that are specifically for that relationship.
Oh well, we move on, and then there are different versions... of songs, of relationships, of life. 🙃

Hate that. Personally First Day of my life also became unlistenable for a long time because of a ex-partner. It takes time. One day you will smile and think back on how you couldn't listen to this song because of a person (as you listen to the song) and you will think about life and love and how everything changes and then the song will become even more beautiful

I love the lyric change on the last line, it makes the statement so much sweeter. Love really is more like working a job than just getting lucky, but sometimes it does happen like that.

I stand by my 2 decade long theory that this isn't a love song. That when the tone shifts from "but i realized that I need you and I wondered if I could come home" to "remember the time YOU drove all night.." that these are two different people. One in love and the other settling. This isn't a love song. It is a song of one person being infatuated and the other settling because it's the easy thing to do.
