- Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze and 11th Judicial District Attorney Linda Stanley formally announced Wednesday afternoon that Barry Morphew was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with the disappearance and death of his wife, Suzanne Morphew.
It takes a DA with fortitude to prosecute a first degree murder case without a body.
And enough circumstantial evidence to convince a jury she is dead and he did it.

My wife was expected to be home at 5:30PM. At 5:45 PM, I got nervous. At 5:50 PM, I got scared. At 5:51 PM, I was pacing and running my hands through my hair and starting to breathe in the only way you can when panic sets in. At 5:52PM I am calling everyone I can think of to see if she was there or if they knew where she was (This was before cellphones, btw). At 5:55 PM, I am crying, panicked, completely at a loss at what to do. At 5:56PM I am on the phone with 9 & 1 dialed and just as I was going to punch in 1 again, my wife comes in through the door. I cannot explain how intense the wave of relief was and the look on her face when she saw how much of an utter mess I was.
The fact that this video came out only a few days after this poor woman's disappearance and almost a year later, the "grieving husband" was arrested shows how accurate the analysis of his "tearful plea" is. Bottom line is, if ANYONE you love, be it your wife, child, pet, or friend disappears without explanation and if you aren't a total wreck by the time 2 hours passes, you have something to do with their disappearance. Enjoy prison, Barry. If it were up to me, you, Scott Peterson, and that utter piece of shit, Christopher Watts would be holding hands in the gas chamber.

Always the spouse... When will these kind of people learn they will not get away with their heartless actions? I'm hopeful that we will see justice for Suzanne, my prayers go out to her children and loved ones, and a huge well done to the officers in this case for all their hard work.
Unfortunately, just the type that chooses this path , and takes something so precious, making a decision that was never theirs , IS exactly the arrogant assuming kind that just feels above every one else and only needs their own needs met .
If they actually thought about something then things like this would not happen. And I am iffy on the thoughts of getting away with it.
I think a lot of this family and I are leasing comes from just being so angry hateful disrespectful towards their mate that all they can see is them not being around. Then if they're narcissistic which is most likely they've been getting away with stupid lies their entire life. So they are convinced that all I got to do is tell the police XYZ in all is all.

I honestly thought the police had given up on this as it went very quiet the last few months, even though the guilt oozed out of him. If they divorce, they may have had a prenup and he could’ve been left with very little or at most half. He thought he would get it all this way. Thanks to the Slayer’s Bounty rule, he will get nothing from her estate if he’s convicted. Her daughters will inherit her entire estate.

I think it has to do with money (not wanting to pay child support and alimony) and also life insurance. Additionally, the type of man that he is, he can’t stand the idea of her meeting someone new someday. ‘If I don’t want her, nobody else can have her.’

And you’re right. Everyone gave up on him, but I happen to know he was working day and night and it was honestly the only thing that seemed to run through his mind. He wanted justice for her so badly. People need to realize that when there is an ongoing investigation, anything the police disclose comprises the investigation. Also, to be able to make an arrest they needed enough evidence for a jury to convict. If you just make an arrest with no evidence, the case will just get thrown out. Sheriff Spezze never took a break. He got very little sleep over the past year because he didn’t like it was appropriate for him to rest until Suzanne got justice. He was/is passionate about it.
@@timebomb8849 Is the sheriff somehow related to the victim? Because the way the sheriff has worked tirelessly on this case certainly one can come to that conclusion. Or perhaps this sheriff is one in a million which he seems to be if there’s no relation.

I am so sorry I would rather think that a mountain lion got Susan or a stranger. It hurts very bad to think somebody that you love so very much could hurt you and harm you. My heart breaks for this beautiful woman. Sounds like she could have been friends with anyone. Sounds like a kind person. We have all gotten to know Suzanne from people that knew her sounds like she was a gentle person.. may she rest in peace. She is with her father. And also her heavenly Father and Jesus.
I feel the same way. And not only did Barry betray Suzanne, but he also betrayed their daughters! To take their mother away from them is beyond heinous. They're at the age now that mom's and daughters really start experiencing life together, as a team. This a loss they'll never recover from. I will continue to presume his innocence, but it's unlikely he deserves that.
Without a body or a confession...it'll be next to impossible to convict him, how will we ever be sure?
I don't think that the Police have any smoking gun, it'll be circumstantial st best, if he did it, he obviously planned it meticulously, ergo the yr it took the police to charge him.

Someone might have spoke up fearing they will also be charged, could have had phone taps or bugs in the house, etc.etc.
