For people who are confused:
This is a brand new single player game set in the dbd universe, featuring as far as we know original characters (who will likely come to dbd as skins or characters in the future). This is made in collaboration with Supermassive games, who are known to be behind “Until Dawn”, “The Quarry”, and “The Dark Pictures Anthology”. This game will likely be in a style where the player makes choices that will alter the story. It will release sometime in 2024.
By the way, the song is “Daylight” by David Kushner

If they really want this to feel special, I hope we also get to make choices from the killer POV. Remember that most killers are as much victims of the entity as the survivors and want to escape this purgatory.
That'd also be new for super massive to do. I think none of super massive games actually show the characters pov. It'd be kinda cool for for survivors to see the killer as a dark sadistic killer, but the killer sees the survivors as a sign of help.
I dont think they can story wise. Because if this is the killer that started the chain of events of DBD and current trials. His role is kind of critical to the timeline. If we play him as good, then the Fog wouldnt exist, ie trials we have in base game. And if we do play him, we'd get the illusion of choice. Which would be shitty gameplay, but narrative wise would show that whatever we do, it is inevitable that the Entity wins
So I can see why playing as the 4 survivors would make more sense. Tho I'd love to be wrong

Hands down.. this trailer gives me chills... Music goes soo well. Short story, animation, concept of a killer, and even survivors finally look like some random group of friends who stumbles uppon some cruel things to witness. All i can say "Well done guys, you did amazing job"

Well I enjoyed those games as well but Supermassive’s best still is Until Dawn in my opinion.
There’s a lot of symbolism in the name “The Casting Of Frank Stone” Frank Stoke being some form of character. Casting either being casted by the entity for what we know as “The Trials” or casting in terms of being shaped or molded by the entity. As well as casting and stone in the title could imply the saying “Casting the first stone” so this may very well be some form of beginning to the story we know, this may have been where the first stone of our story is casted.
A part of me wonders if he may not just be another worlds version of the trapper but the entity preferred the evan we currently have in game over frank, leaving frank back on his earth as sorta a urban legend
However despite not being taken, the entity still seems to linger around him and seems to even cause constant overlaps around him (maybe for just in case it decides to take him anyway, or maybe even after the trapper finally ran dry of emotions and gets tossed to the void)
Another way I thought of it was casting something made of metal, shaping one thing into something else with more purpose

I like how there is a glint of light in Frank's eyes, that there is a hint of humanity in him. Usually, people make sure that there is no light glinting in the eye of an evil character, to show that there is no life or soul in them. But Frank shows that glint in his eye, meaning that there is more to him than a killer.

Some hunches I have about this game
1. This could possibly be the first killer that arrived in The Entities realm and tells the story about how he got there before being tossed into The Void
2. The screams in the background are most likely the four main characters being held captive by said killer who at some point during the game manage to escape and you have to help them make it out alive.
3. The Entity's full physical form is seen for the first time, that being a gigantic spider. While it is said that the realm itself IS The Entity (ex. Trees, Birds, pallets etc) on the official DBD wiki it states that The Entities most preferred form is that of a Spider, resembling something from Stephen Kings IT.
4. It's my strong hunch that whoever it is that is supposed to canonically survive the game will most likely show up as a future survivor in the core game.
All in all I'm really excited for this game, can't wait to get my hands on it.
Edit: When I was looking at the steam page for the game, I also noticed a pharmaceutical store that had "Afterpiece Tonic" on it, so we'll probably get to meet a younger version of The Clown at some point? Or maybe a close relative that refers to him.
Edit 2: Did some thinking and I believe that we will experience the 4 main characters get taken by The Entity, which will result in them encountering Frank Stone and we will experience a full trial in a more cinematic perspective. This would explain why his workbench is covered in nature by the time the others show up. So before that happens, it’s really more so getting to know the towns history and the scars Frank left behind.
I'm glad they actually went with the Entity being a spider as expected and not some annoying human form, I'm sick of humanoid forms for evil entities, would rather have more evil and alien looking monsters tbh
There was no first killer in the entities realm, the entity is timeless, so all killers and survivors have pretty much been in the trials forever

So Killers like the plague (Who we know is the oldest killer in terms of which time period there from) Came into the realm after the the Trapper who at the moment is the earliest killers to be brought into the realm and not be tossed into the void

I’ve read the description below the film and this game will not only present Frank’s sins but also his legacy. So current killer in the trailer is probably son of Frank or his grandson.
The entity can not force you to do anything outside its realm ( in the real world ) . It can only follow you through the course of your life in the shadows , wishper in your ear and try to manipulate you to do bad things , but not force you . This game takes place in the real world , before the entity takes them to the realm of dbd , so the killer most probably has his own personal reasons for doing what he does .
This is not what I was expecting, but I’m excited to see where this goes!

Supermassive games have multiple endings where the characters either all live, all die, or only few live. They'll find a way to bring them into the game as characters 100%. It might only be 2 of the survivors though with the other 2 as main skins, There are usually about 2 "Main Characters" in these types of games.

Still can’t get over how awesome the entity looks. We’ve never seen the entity as ominous and cataclysmic as it looks here when descending from the clouds. That combined with the music really makes it feel like an actual god is entering the realm in the presence of something horrible about to happen that’s beyond our wildest nightmares. I’m so excited

For anyone wondering what the gameplay and chase sequences will be like:
Most of the game is cutscenes where you make choices that determine events that happen and who lives/dies. All action sequences during the game are also cutscenes with things like "Quick Time Events". For example, if you had to jump over a pallet to escape the killer in the game a buttom would appear on the screen. If you press the button before it vanishes you jump over the pallet, if you don't then the character is either permenantly dead or lives through luck somehow. The rest of the gameplay while not being chased will basically be 3rd person and you will just walk around through areas finding clues and trying to escape.

Finally expanding the DBD franchise in a way that makes the most sense. Not everyone likes 4v1’s. But a LOT of people like horror based story games.
Imagine new characters or existing characters story fleshed out in an interactive way.

I remember when DBD came in 2016, Until Dawn was quite popular game in horror genre (infact 1 of the best) to the point i feel DBD took some inspiration & similarities in art & lore from that game. So watching this collab now is like a dream come true. Hoping this will be a good success.

It seems very intentional that frank is shown when the song goes "oh i love it and i hate it at the same time, hiding all of my sins from the daylight" im gonna assume he of course is taken unwillingly by the entity and has to do its bidding and kill people, he clearly does not seem happy, he even seems a bit sad at the end where hes just staring. I imagine hes probably forced into doing a bunch of horrible stuff for the entity. God i cant wait for this game

To think DBD was just a little indie asymmetrical horror game, then became the champion of multiplayer horror that it is today.
Took years to reach said point
Man this game is going to be something else. As someone who knows how intense and rich the lore is and how many of the killers are victims too when the song crescendos and it shows Frank's mentally tortured face it makes me tear up a bit. This story is going to be dark, simply because of the universe it is set in and what the killer's are put through.

My theory rn is that this is gonna be the backstory of how the entity takes people and what it does to them. I think that it was very intentional that frank is shown when the lyrics say "oh i love it and I hate it at the same time, hiding all of our sins from the daylight", I think he's being forced to do stuff like unwillingly killing people because the entity makes him do so. He doesn't seem to be very happy at the end or like he's enjoying this. I hope it goes into the psyche of him, imagine being forced to kill people and being called a serial killer and a monster by other people, but you're being forced to do it, that'd be fucked. I also think that the survivors we see are the original 4 survivors parents, dwights dad, claudettes father, megs mother, jake's mother, and they're probably investigating their kids disappearances (they were seen watching the tape showing maybe a documentary or something about the mines where frank maybe killed some people) so they went there to investigate as shown in the trailer.
That is a solid prediction actually because of the character resemblance. And it would give like a sick and twisted reason for the entity to have taken them to begin with. Like their parents fucked with the entity so it took revenge on their kids
Those characters are too young to be the parents of those survivors. Also, the description makes it clear the story isn’t directly related to current characters

Based on the website he seems VERY into it, his notebook describes how he will commit the murders and he calls himself “a creature forged to purge the world”
I doubt it, if this is set in the present day of the timeline then they are all in the Realm, as they were part of a support group that entered the realm to look for them and took over he role as Observer. They look more like teens and the website calls them a group of friends

So cool to see a trailer for this! I've been looking forward to it since the announcement at the anniversary stream. Supermassive games made some awesome games, can't wait for their take on the DBD lore. (And DBD lore in general. We've been starved for it since Blight came out, other than a few minor things and the observer disappearing)

This seems like a great idea, in fact, it makes room for even monsters, killers or survivors that appear in the spin-off series to come to the original game.
i can already tell this guy, which im assuming is frank, has some really twisted story on why hes doing what hes doing and being a killer and making sacrifices to the entity, i cant wait to discover whats goin on!!
im really thinking frank isn’t liking what hes doing, but he has to go into the entities realm for family or something to find them.

This trailer goes harder than I thought, and the use of Daylight is something I was expecting, and i just didn’t think it would be used to this maximum potential imaginable, good job BHVR
The shot of the Entity reaching down from the sky is incredible, and I hope we got more information on her.

All 4 survivors had flashlights, they're about to make that man's life a living hell.
So, detail that I kind of love here and that I'm really hoping will be notable in the game itself when it comes out, that knife we get the closeups on looks a lot like it started out as a file and then got sharpened down to being a knife. The texture on both the top and bottom of the blade as well as the part of the handle that we see are what make me figure this, plus it ties in with the jagged "teeth" on the mask seeming to be a deliberate thing that Frank Stone crafted into the mask to make himself more monstrous.
Combined with that book on his work table, it might be possible that he did everything he could to make himself an attractive target for the Entity, either as a killer so that he could do more and more murders forever or, possibly, as a killer with the intention of trying to take someone back from the Entity.
It looks amazing, can't wait! Hype is real!
