  • I am not happy with the dealer that installed my flat bed body so I removed his company logo's. I can't see giving free advertising to a company that I am not happy with.

    For as long as I can remember every time my dad would buy a new car he had it taken to the dealers body shop and have ALL the badges and decals removed from the car at the dealers expense. This was a deal breaker as far as he was concerned. He did offer to leave them on the car as long as they paid him $100.00 a month for advertising. In 50+ years no one took him up on it. I do the same now. Dad was my hero. .

      When I was a service manager, I offered a free wash every week to every service customer that would allow me to put a decal on their car. I took all other dealership decals and tags off of the car and replaced them with mine. The customer got a free wash every week and I got inexpensive advertising..........

      @user-cl5ov9dx5o Před 5 lety

      Yes, that is the attitude of dealers....and on a minor issue.......Leave the decals off or pay me for your advertising....Good idea DAD
      ....you or your Dad "might would have" sent a NEW customer the dealer NOW MAKING A NEW SALE.......BUT..............?????
      How many $100 per months payments would you receive on just 50% of the profit of the referral........
      Making a "sale" without "building a business" A person will pay your price, even if it higher than JOEBLOW.....That reason is
      THEY LIKE "you".....IT does not matter how good your price is if you as an individual are an asshole I would not buy from you!

    I think you handled yourself very professional for being screwed by the company. I know those aluminum beds are not cheap if it was me they did it to I'd be at their dealership everyday until it was fixed. My father in law got screwed over and the dealer wasn't fixing the truck so he went and had these huge pictures of a lemon and he put them on his truck and it said if you wanna buy a lemon go to (he had the name of the dealer on the magnet too) and he would park the truck right in front of the dealers showroom. You better believe they fixed his truck real fast... LOL

      Hey farmall450diesel , how much $$ was the dump body option for your flatbed? I have a production built (from Ohio, I forget the brand name) aluminum flatbed on my 2002 Ram 2500 Cummins truck. I've considered adding a dump to it, but have a gut feeling that it's going to be cost prohibitive, and that I'd be better off buying a truck that already has a dump body on it. Let me know if you know or can find out. Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a 3500 cab chassis with a Featherlight aluminum deck, it looks just like yours, and for mud flaps I found that tractor quarter fenders with a strip of mud flap bolted to the bottom of them work great. With long mud flaps like yours I had issues that they burned up on the exhausted or bend or broke off from vibration and flapping around after some time.

    Based on experience. If you have a problem like this in the future, and they give you the runaround, and you're tired of dealing with scumbags taking advantage of you.... figure out a way to stop payment or get your cc company to dispute the charge. You'll see how quickly they start calling YOU every day. And if they sue you, better yet. Ride it out till you get to court, and let the judge decide. Of course, they'll probably bend over backwards for you to avoid that sure loss.

They seemed very aggravated when I told them there was no way I am taking this body, just won't work with my application. I agree about removing their logos if that don't stand behind their product. I don't know if you already fix the problem on the mud flaps with extra support. You might go down to a machine shop and they would have free scrap for you to used for the project. Also, you can go to a machine shop to help on making some side boards with latch pins. Great video

      Terri Romero They don't grow everywhere...northern California is one of 3 last remaining spots.
      Once found almost world-wide, their natural range is now restricted to the foggy coastal belt of Northern California (the sequoia sempervirens), a strip in the Sierra Nevada mountains of sequoiadendron gigantia and a small group of meta sequoia (Dawn Redwood) in a remote valley in China.
      Get a clue...you could use a synthetic product that resembles wood and would be more weatherproof and last longer.

    Cant say I feel bad for you. You've had multiple issues with this dealer/company and you keep going back, you kept talking to the same guy there, and you let them walk all over you. Now you have made a video to say you wont give them advertising, yet the whole video shows the companies info. What you should have done is drove the truck down there, Told them what to fix, and when to have it done by or take the body off of the truck and you'd go elsewhere for one.

    • @jackfntwist
      @jackfntwist Před 10 lety +1

      The only way some dealers respond is if you get hostile with them, or withhold the payment till they fix it 100% (that's the best way). Some people don't like that kind of confrontation. That's why they go to a dealer in the first place - trust them to get it done right, even though it costs more. This video is the opposite of advertising. It shows anyone in the area that the company is bullshit. Bad word of mouth will go a long way on these things.

    Holy fuck that bracket should have never been welded on. What a Micky mouse operation! it should have had been bolted on. That's what we do when building fire trucks.

    • @turbodiesel4709
      @turbodiesel4709 Před 8 lety

      @wilson solt : 99% of them are welded on. Same shit happens with fuel tank filler neck brackets. That crack was clearly due to poor welding, combined with no gusset, as the OP pointed out in his video. It's actually a pretty common problem, I see it all the time on all kinds of trucks that I work on.
      Unfortunately, most install shops are hacks with either inexperienced or just plain shitty mechanics. I'd never pay an installer install a truck body or snow plow on my truck. They do shit work. 1/2 assed welding, 1/2 assed wiring, pretty much 1/2 assed everything. No thanks, I'll do it myself and do it right.
      Shop labor rates are so expensive nowadays, people go to the "cheapest" shops and get slip-shod work done just to save a few bucks. Problem is that almost noone is willing to pay for a job done right. They say they are, but when it comes down to it, they cheap out every damned time. Fact is, time = money, and the more time it takes to do it right, the more it costs the customer.
      What's worse is that the average Joe doesn't even know when they are getting hack-job work done on their vehicles. It's sad, but true.

    Not being able to fix their wiring mistake because they were "too busy" is a sorry excuse. There's no way in hell they were too busy for 6 months straight. They just didn't want to fix it and by putting you off they were hoping you'd drop it.

    Just put a red circle around the name with a red line throw it. It will tell everyone what you think of the dealer.

    @JJBproductions21 I honestly doubt that would hurt them that bad , if he really wante to hurt them he should put a big ass banner on his truck and drive around. Never get the dealer to do work like that, it cost 10 times more anyway.

    Just learn how to check your fuses. Almost all 7 pin RV plugs are plastic - most need to be replaced every year - upgrade to OEM style plug with replaceable socket so even you that doesn't know anything about wiring can change plug as long as you can run a screwdriver. The seller of this bed has just done themselves a favor - getting you to go to their competition.

    partsmen from any and all businesses never call back its like a thing with them i guess. ADHD style people. and we have 15 trucks and 6 trailers at our business, fixing trailer wiring is just a constant thing. even heatshrinked connections and putting loom on the wires doesnt help. sooner or later there going to have a fault. it seems to me like if you use your trailer like almost daily its better. they just dont seem to have wiring isues. but let it sit for a couple weeks and you have a problem
