  • This Kikkerland Universal Travel Adapter has a slim profile that adapts electrical outlets of more than 150 countries. (Note: doesn't convert electricity). View Our Full Review: packhacker.com/travel-gear/ki...
When on the road, our devices become home base-as in our connection with the homeland. So there’s nothing more important than having the proper power-up gear. The Universal Travel Adapter by Kikkerland helps with all that and more.
It's important to note that this WILL NOT convert the voltage of the outlet you're plugging into, so make sure your devices are dual voltage (most modern day devices are). If you're ever unsure, it's better to not risk it, as you may break your devices.
Out of all the plug adapters out there, this power outlet adapter is one of the smallest and most versatile. It covers most of the world (150+ countries) and easily stows into your bag when not in use.
One negative with this world outlet adapter is that it can sometimes block the outlet next to it with the yellow pieces that stick out the sides (for example, China and Australia). Despite this small negative, we at Pack Hacker would still recommend it highly.

I am glad I watched this. I just got back from Australia, and I was so frustrated with the other port being blocked, that I was planning to cut off the side yellow pieces, but now I know I will need them for a configuration in the future.
We have 2 for 2 people, and at times that was not enough, so I think I will be ordering 2 more soon.

Hey Heather - glad you found the video useful. Those prongs can be frustrating at times, but they'll come in handy eventually! The amount you need certainly depends on how many devices you take with you, but luckily this adapter is pretty small so adding a couple more to your pack shouldn't take up much more room. Thanks for reaching out! 👍👍👍

To avoid confusion, call it what it is, an "adapter", not a converter.

When researching adapters I found that this adapter is withdrawn from the Swedish market due to safety regulations. (www.elsakerhetsverket.se/privatpersoner/Forsaljningsforbud/rese_adapter_10101/ ) I'd personally say: If you don't know what your're doing, don't use it. (Don't have a this-seems-to-work mindset when it comes to things that can start electrical fires. The smoke from a burning/melting adapter is very bad to inhale. For the same reason, I would be wary of using a plug that's has that leverage-problem mentioned in the video.)

Interesting - thanks for sharing this Andreas! Of course, safety and precaution are #1 when using any outlet conversion and we can see the specifics from your link.
(By the way, it looks like the ")" saved with the clickable part of the link. Can you edit?)

The same is true for most travel adaptors on the market. The most concerning issue is being able to use equipment that requires 16A in sockets that are only 2.5A but most outlets in Europe are rated for 16A with only a few in very old building still using 2.5A Type C plugs. Not having ground wire available is also an issue but most US devices don't use ground. Ground only provides protection from appliances with exposed wires. The the odds of that happening are very small. I mean, you wouldn't want to use a microwave or washing machine with it but it is fine for phones, alarm clocks, and other random things.

The original (Road Warrior) is made by a Japanese company, ad is almost always out of stock and hard to find. This Kikkerland model is a cheap copy.

Road Warrior is much better. The quality of the Kikkerland is very poor. In fact, Road Warrior invented this adaptor and holds the patent, Kikkerland licenses it.

    • @JohnDoe-nq9hl
      @JohnDoe-nq9hl Před 2 lety

Yeah you can. But the Kikkerland adaptor is poor quality, I recommend the Road Warrior, it's exactly the same.

Pro tip: this is not a converter - it's an adapter. Those terms are not interchangeable.

het zalwel - you can charge your battery bank and phone through your laptop. And/or you can charge with a USB port that’s attached to a plug in the wall.
We’ll have a video coming out next month that will make this more clear too 😌

DO NOT BUY THIS ADAPTER: I purchased this adapter three times and every single one had an issue. The first was cracked. The second had pins that wouldn't rotate, the third had incorrectly installed pins that wouldn't fit an outlet. After looking at the back of the page, I saw that they licensed a patent from a different company called "Road Warrior." They carry much higher-quality products and I haven't had an issue with them.
