      Some more fun facts:
      When originally built, it did not have any elevators. The general overseeing it did not want to see fat generals using elevators; everyone would have to use the stairs.
      When originally designed, it was expected that after the war the DoD would be reduced to its pre-war size, they wouldn't need such a large office building anymore, and it would be converted to records storage. Hence, it has rather low ceilings for its size.

    The planets were named after Greek and Roman gods, which were religious to the Greeks and Romans...Mercury was the god of travelers and thieves, Venus was the goddess of love, Mars was the god of war, Jupiter was the king of the gods, aka Zeus, Saturn was the god of agriculture, Uranus was the god of the sky, Neptune was the god of the sea, Pluto was the god of the underworld, aka Hades to the Greeks. Technically, Earth was known as Gaia, the mother of Zeus and the daughter of Uranus. The Greeks and Romans knew there was something in the sky and assumed they were the god watching down on us and assigned the different colored dots in the sky their names, not knowing they were planets in orbit around the sun. Also the Sun was called Apollo, the god of light and the moon was called Selene, the goddess of the moon. Most ancient cultures had pantheons of gods representing different aspects of life, like Thor was the god of thunder and lightning and Loki the god of mischief, which the American Indians god of mischief was Coyote and they had pantheons, too.

    Tyler was born in 1790; the first one born after the adoption and ratification of the US Constitution (1789), which established the US as a sovereign nation.
    Tyler's nine predecessors in office (Washington thru WH Harrison) were born on what is now US soil, but, because they were British colonies at the time, they were British subjects at birth (though they were all given posthumous retroactive US citizenship by an Act of Congress in 1976)

    Just because background processes burn more than the food doesn't mean it's negative calories. You're still adding calories to the system. If you eat celery during a fast day your reserves will end up with more than not eating at all.

      The implication is (he didn't explain it well) that the act of chewing and digesting Celery consumes more calories than Celery contains. Making it negative.

    How long are you leaving water in the microwave for it to explode? Like water can be cooked in the microwave for at least a good 2 minutes for stuff like instant ramen. So idk where that even came from.

    Just in case no-one's offered this as yet - for No. 12 - Martin van Buren is the only US president for whom English (even "Colonial American English") was *not* his first language. He was born in New York State to an immigrant Dutch family, so that's the first one he was exposed to - English came second.

    George Dantzig was working on his PhD in statistics when this happened. I've always wondered if one of the reasons the two problems remained unsolved was they were being taught as "unsolvable". To him, they were just homework that was harder than usual. During his career, he developed the algorithm for Linear Programming.

    It's very easy to super heat water in the microwave and hardly rare. It won't explode like a warhead. It'll sometimes tend to splatter violently.
    It's very easy to do this, just nuke water then sprinkle salt into it.

  • @Raven5150
    @Raven5150 Před 5 měsíci +1

    No thsts not how the exploding water in a microwave works, it has to be distilled water and if any contaminate goes in the Super heated distilled water like dirt or just dust it will cause a reaxtion to make the Super heated eat boil and "explode" tap water won't do it

    Planets were named after Roman(except one) Gods. They are better know by their Greek equivalents though... Mercury=Hermes, Venus=Aphrodite, Mars=Ares, Jupiter=Zues, Saturn=Kronos(Zues and his siblingd father) Neptune=Poseidon, and Pluto=Hades. Uranus is actually the Greek name of Kronos' father.
