      Lol he has 4 years in college if he wants to wait and improve his skills. With his range and skills I'd say he has a decent chance to make it in the NBA. Rankings don't mean much unless you're going to be a one-and-done player in college. What was Curry ranked his senior year of high school? He wasn't. He just put up one of the best seasons of all time last year. Better than almost all of MJ's seasons. You can't count out a 17 year old with skill and determination.

    Undersized, not flashy, not super athletic? As far as I've seen he's listed 6'6 (how is that undersized?). Well he's not very flashy, but he is scoring those points because of his on court energy balance. If you do flashy moves, you will get tired quicker. Not super athletic? As far as I've seen he goes by defenders by strength and you can be 3 types of athletic - high jumping, fast runner or STRONG. And his mass makes him athletic. Also him not having a certain position makes him VERSITILE. And the point that he knows where to be and having a good feel for his shot makes him a great basketball player.

    • @superfrikkzzlatan491
      @superfrikkzzlatan491 Před 7 lety +4

      His game is built around bullying smaller people in the post. Good college defenders will shut him up. He's too slow to play 2-3 and to small to play 4-5. And it's hard to be a great basketball player when you suck at defense. He hides his bad defense in that Chino zone. He will get abused on the defensive end in college.

    • @TheUnpluggedWop
      @TheUnpluggedWop Před 7 lety +4

      SuperFrikkz Zlatan that's my analysis of him too. If he works on that speed and quickness, he could be at least an adequate NBA player

    • @superfrikkzzlatan491
      @superfrikkzzlatan491 Před 7 lety +5

      Still will be nowhere close to a NBA player. He can't work that much on his quickness, he just wasn't born with a basketball body like his brothers.
      Imagine the horror of LiAngelo trying to guard quick guards in the NBA. lol

    • @travz21
      @travz21 Před 7 lety

      SuperFrikkz Zlatan - His skills aren't built around that though. That's just how he's being used in this system on occasion. Don't act like he's not yanking it from 25 feet frequently either. He's not only bullying people. He has the whole offensive package. Lonzo played in the same system and adapted well to college considering he's going to be a top 3 pick in the draft.

    • @superfrikkzzlatan491
      @superfrikkzzlatan491 Před 7 lety

      He is slow with bad handles and can't get past anyone. He can do 2 things: Post up and shoot 3s. Good college defenders will eat him up. LiAngelo probably won't even get big minutes at UCLA unless he DRASTICALLY improves his speed.

      He's not fat compared to your average Joe. But his weight at 6'5 is far from ideal for a guard. LiAngelo is fucking 240 lbs. He is as heavy as NBA centers Rudy Gobert, KAT, Gortat. For a basketball player I'm gonna call that fat. How the fuck is he gonna gonna guard quick guards when he's 240 lbs 6'5?

    • @travz21

    Love your last point. Easiest points are made immediately after the opposing team scores or misses. Everyone has their guard down. In high school, we always had at least one player at the top of the key sprint down court, instead of rebounding, to get an open lay after a shot was put up by the other team. Those easy points rack up quickly.

    This is a fantastic video. Giving great examples and articulating through a very non-biased point of view. Nice work. I was shocked when I first saw Gelo, to be honest. He just looked so chubby and slow. Of the three brothers, he was easy pickings as far as finding fault, I suppose. But I'm loving what I'm seeing from Lonzo as a Bruin and hadn't seen the other siblings in action until recently so there was a bit of a shock factor at work. Dig your stuff. Will subscribe.

    As one who's kids attend Chino Hills High and as one that has watched nearly all of their games, many in person (when it's possible to get a couple tickets), I can tell you what appears to me to be the most understood and underreported aspect of their style of play. It is something that highlight videos makes look worse. I'm talking about their perceived lack of defense. Believe me, they play plenty of defense but like the rest of their game they do it differently and smarter than anybody else and they do it in a way that almost always allows them to play a complete game without fouling out. After all it does no good to be one of the most feared players in the nation, a guy who can make 30-foot three pointers regularly and play traditional defense if you get your ass sat on the bench for the rest of the game. They do alter their opponents shots. They get lots of steals with their quickness. They rely on their two bigs to block shots and they are damn good at it. They are great at getting more than their fair share of rebounds. But what they really do defensively that most don't seem to pick up on is that they are so well conditioned that they simply wear out their opponent. Look back at box scores and you will see that many teams have kept up with them through the first half but by the third quarter they are done and by the time the forth quarter comes along the Huskies are often so far ahead it is showtime. You have to watch full games, maybe in person, to really appreciate this in context but when you do you can see the pure frustration set in on their opponents faces as they simply cant keep up and part of how Chino Hills does that is by getting so few fouls which allows the game to continue and creates few breaks for substitutions. Some teams have tried to slow the game way down but eventually they start to fall behind and are forced to work faster to score. Once that happens the Huskies have you right where they want you. Some teams try to play fast like them but that doesn't work unless your conditioning is as strong... which it never seems to be. Chino Hills' defensive is earned through hard work long before they take the court. And one more thought.... they are legends in the making. That gets into the opponents heads and combined with any lack of confidence their opponent may harbor ends up as good as any defensive play you've ever seen. It gets them beat.

They're just faster and more athletic than their opponents, their strategy is shit and their skills are nothing special. these players will hit a brick wall in college (other than lonzo who is quite a talent in most respects, he is the best of the brothers, clearly).

      Lonzo's style does work at the next level, he's 2nd in the NCAA in assists and his team is 16-1. The game is evolving. Lonzo and Lamelo are future NBA players. But LiAngelo is fat and slow and probably won't do anything notable on the basketball court in the future.
