Yea this happened to me 3 months ago man..... i order every month since then, about 8 cans......Matt is a quirky bobb ross or mr rogers type but about canned sardines i guess.... im hooked.

Sardines are now a staple in my household. I remember my dad always chowing down on these, always grossed me out. Now I’m in love, plus the misses hates them so she never touches them.

I love to eat fresh fish but had never tried it from a can/tin until I found this channel. Last weekend I tried my first can of sardines and I've had 4 different cans of seafood in the last week! I have really enjoyed trying out different types and figuring out which I enjoy the most. 6 new cans are waiting in my snack stash to be sampled!
Me too. I love canned tuna, but never tried the dines before finding his channel. Glad I did! Really like sardines straight out of the can as a snack now. Wish I had tried them sooner.
same, i always skipped on canned seafood thinking it would be just plain bad. and considered fresh to be superior, but after seeing lots of reviews from this channel it changed my mind on canned seafod and now i'll always keep some sorts in my pantry.
A good can of dines in mustard sauce with saltine crackers and a few dashes of hot sauce, one of the most nostalgic snacks for me. I'm excited to try some dines in EVOO in 2024. ❤
If you like deens then try some Kipper Snacks! I think they are awesome and a great way to supplement one's diet and very shelf-stable. Usually packed in water though. Gone up a lot in price though🤨

Discovered your channel just a couple of weeks ago, so excited for the new video! I've always loved canned fish and turns out my 5-year-old loves them too. So we watch these videos and make a grocery list of stuff we need to track down🎉
My mom loved King Oscar Tiny Tots so I loved them too. My gateway to canned and smoked fish. KO also packs them in a 22-24 fish can. They are the cutest little fishies and your five year old will love them.

In Japan, you can also commonly get sardines in a miso sauce. Recommended!
He actually has a previous video where he has a can in Miso sauce, then a couple in sweet soy sauce, all from japan.
Amazing. Live in Japan and literally just bought these yesterday to try since I recognized them from your videos. Didn’t even read the packaging just assumed they would be in olive oil so this should be interesting. It reads “いわし” which I think is usually taken in Japanese to mean pilchard which I think is a different kind/more mature sardine? Excited to try them out
Regular King Oscars are brislings/spratts. A different species and smaller than pilchards. I know they were caught right around where I grew up in Norway. Mostly for industrial use.

In my local grocery store in Norway they only have King Oscar with olive oil and tomato sauce, and a low budget variety called Eldorado with soy and flax oil, and tomato sauce. King Oscar with olive oil is excellent, but I would like some other options as well!
The small ones are my favorite canned fish. With a baguette or all alone. Mmmmm..

The wife and I tried the Ocean’s brand mackerel with juniper and coriander - cowabunga. Thanks to the kind commenter who put us onto those - they looked identical to the gold seal and matched your description. Best thing I’ve had out of a can - so far.
If you ever get around to it, check out the barnacles from Dan. They looked really neat but I’m not adventurous enough yet to try them without seeing you conquer them first.

I usually get KO sardines, but I got a can of Great Value dines in mustard sauce and they are delicious! I don't think they are the same kind of fish and I got 4 big fish in the GV. Bigger equals larger spine action and more crunchy!😄

I bought chopsticks to eat sardines because of this channel, and it works for me. I wasn't impressed by my first brisling sardine can, but noob tip: Apparently pilchards taste very differently, so try different fish species if you can! (Portuguese Ramirez with chili from my local supermarket.) Shelf stable super healthy and delicious fish? Ingenious! I just feel like dumping the flavored olive oil is a bit of a waste AND a mess. Maybe some pieces of baguette would work to make a very rustic little South Europe style meal?

Recently found this amazing channel and it reminded me of a nice tin of Minervas in the shed that have been through five years of freeze-thaw cycles during winter/summer. Wonder if they still are good to eat.
If anything I think the freezing would extend the lifespan, not shorten it. Unless it gets really hot in your garage in the summer.
