- Andrew talks about being called “Hot Priest,” becoming friends with lots of Irish actors, doing eight different characters in a one-man play, his female understudy never getting the chance to go on, his new Netflix show “Ripley,” and learning how to speak Italian with an American accent.

I love this man. He was so snubbed at the Oscars for all of us strangers
So true 🌈🌈
And so was the movie.
He absolutely was. It’s a shame.
Yes historians of cinema will agree!
💯
his performance as 'Moriarty' in 'Sherlock' was mind blowing!!!!!
That is where I first saw him and was completely hooked
Andrew was stunning in All of us Strangers. For all of us who long to have conversations w our parents we never had it was it was a gift.
He’s so brilliant in that film. He should have been nominated for an Oscar.
What a movie - I cried.
Gosh, such brilliant words "For all of us who long to have conversations with our parents we never had..." - literally made me cry 🥺
These words literally made me cry - such a brilliant and precise description 🥺
I cried too. And it was shot and based in the area I live and grew up in!
Scott stole my heart in the highly likable Fleabag as the “hot priest.” . So glad to see his career take off.
you sound like a AI bot
It was his Black Mirror turn that stole mine!!
@@emu_warriorclearly is
"All of us strangers" was great!
Ripley is one of the best series I’ve seen in a long time, long time. It’s absolutely fantastic and Scott gives an amazing performance.
Agree. 👏🏽
Agree 👍
Just binged the whole thing (Ripley). It is stunning, every shot looks like a painting. Andrew can convey so much without saying anything. You switch between being terrified of Ripley and rooting for him. He’s been my favourite actor since I saw him in Sherlock. Wish I lived in the UK so I could see him in plays. I’ve only seen his Hamlet because they filmed it and put it online. Hope to be able to watch Vanya too.
Omg this! Me too, same thoughts!
The limited release has finished I believe. A National Theatre Live film which may appear on their National Theatre at Home site one day.
His Vanya was the most incredible thing I've ever seen! I didn't believe it was possible before I saw it but within only a few minutes you knew who all the characters were and truly believed in them as separate entities, almost forgetting it was only one actor! Just stunning.
I binge watched it too.
It was magnificent. have been to most of those places in Italy and it was beautiful to see it again. I go to Italy in 6 weeks for 10 days, can’t wait.
I felt the same way.
Fantastic actor and seems to be genuinely lovely.
This Actor is really terrific
The Talented Mr. Scott.
loved him ever since I saw him in sherlock and I'm so happy to see that he gets more and more successful and popular with every role he plays. He's such a great actor and person
Him as Moriarty in Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes was amazing. 🥰😍
Agreed.
He's so talented, I'm so happy Andrew getting more and more recognition. Congratulations!!!👏
He gave a performance for the ages in All of us strangers. Absolutely deserved more plaudits for that film.
i saw vanya at the cinema, it’s absolutely fantastic how he pulled all of the characters off. it was brilliant.
It's a west end play, how did you see it in the cinema?
@@theabraham8164 National Theatre Live filmed it and showed the film in theatres.
They filmed the play and it was released in theatres.
National Theatre Live filmed the play and it had a limited release which ended recently I believe. It was wonderful. 🎭
I saw it last night and was spellbound.
The person who said Screamed when Kimmel mentioned the Hot Priest five seconds in is all of us.
He’s one of those actors that everyone loves❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
He's come such a long way since Sherlock!
He's grown into himself.
Best Moriarty EVER!!!!
Such a long way since Band of Brothers!
Thanks to international streaming he is now a huge success and growing but has been highly regarded and awarded for his stage work and less high profile movies for many years. Watch his Hamlet and other movies on CZcams.
So happy for him!
What a likesble charming man!
I will now search for him in stag, Ripley, and all of us strangers. He seems amazing, and I adore all the other great Irish actors he mentioned.
His charisma is off the charts
Andrew Scott always nails his roles. ALWAYS 😂❤🎉
He is pure delight in every interview 😊
My #1 actor!!!
His performance in All Of Us Strangers changed my life!
Loved him in PRIDE. Thought he was Welsh 😮
Great actor and a really friendly guy.
I have visit Ireland and he is a true Irish. Most of the people i met there are so nice and friendly and polite. Every time i took a train a younger person will stand and give a the seat and i was not an old lady just older then the person. I never have seen this in any other country that I visit. Love to Ireland fm Greece!!
Bumped into him in Dublin airport years ago. I mean literally collided with him. Such a nice guy. Even after nearly mowing him down with my 6'2" frame and rolley luggage.
Edit: He's in a brilliant Irish movie called The Stag. It's like The Hangover, but much more heart and just as funny.
Ah I must watch that, I’ve heard about that maybe at the time like on the late late or something but I’ve never seen it!
Released in US and some places as “Bachelor Weekend”
@@helenc1943 I must have a look for it ☺️
I love this man❤ Great actor
About the whole speaking Italian with slightly different tones to it: I honestly do think people notice, but not like "Oh look what he did there!" The audience will FEEL the effort and quality in some way. It gives the acting more depth, even if the audience can't put the finger on why exactly it feels so well done.
True. As an Italian I could hear it very well. An American speaking Italian, not an Irishman, not an Australian…he nailed it.
Lovely man an outstanding actor. Represents our country very well. Proud of him. Not long ago since his mother passed.
Oh no, it is terrible to lose one's mother. May she rest in peace and Andrew find peace. Mine passed in 2021.
He’s so generous! So cool of him to acknowledge the female Irish actors. The media usually only focuses on the men. 🥰. Love Andrew! He’s incredibly talented. Wish I could’ve seen his one man play!!😩😃🥰
His neck, his beautiful neck 😂
Between Fleabag, Ripley and All of Us Strangers I'm madly in love with this man. His performances are stunning, EVERY single time. I would LOVE to see him in a play.
He has four plays that were filmed. He sis Hamlet for the BBC and three for National Theater Live, Present Laughter, Three Kings, and Vanya. Google National Theater At Home and you should be able to find out how to stream them. Hamlet is floating around on bootleg. I've seen them all, and he is always completely stunning!
He was AWESOME as Moriarty in Sherlock!
People should not compare the film to the Netflix series. They are both great in their own right. The photography in the series is absolutely stunning and worthy of awards. It's filmed like a love letter to Italy.
Love Andrew Scot , amazing in Ridley , he is just amazing .all the very very best to him 🇮🇪
I enjoyed Ripley so much! Great acting and visually beautiful
What an extraordinary actor who always like to hone his craft! Everything he does has intention. “All of Us Strangers” was absolutely fantastic, and it will sit with you for a long time.
I love him in Ripley.
He is such an incredible actor that's been a part of many great projects. I'm sure he will only continue to grow onwards!
He is shy . its very endearing .. great actor.
Vanya the play he did is great preformed!
Ripley is phenomenal.
"The Hot Priest & Sister Victoria" now make that NETFLIX.
I first saw Scott in 2007 in an episode of "Nuclear Secrets" on the History channel, (way back when the History channel actually showed history documentaries) playing Soviet physicist Andrei Sakharov. I fell in love with him right then, and I've enjoyed following his career ever since. His performance in the Black Mirror episode "Smithereens" broke my heart. He deserves to be successful.❤
Went to drama school with “Understudy” Victora Blunt and she did actually get a chance to perform Vanya (and she was UNREAL.) Andrew is a fab actor granted… But the world ain’t ready for Victoria Blunt! Watch this space! 🙌♥️
Andrew Scott, a brilliant actor, amazing!
Love him!❤
Andrew is brilliant!
Andrew’s presence first resonated with me on the second season of Fleabag. He had a familiar face, but I wasn’t sure of his specific works. Fast forward to now… I just watched All of Us Strangers a few weeks ago, and absolutely loved it (although it’s very depressing). And I cannot wait to start watching Ripley.
He has a three and a half minute cameo in the film 1917, where he walks off with the entire film, in my humble opinion.
Always been a big fan of Andrew evee since seeing him on Sherlock. Really talented underdog actor like Cillian. Was really impressed with his performance in that Black Mirror episode too.
After watching long podcasts where actors are interviewed half an hour or more, a 7 minute interview just seems so short. Andrew has to be on to do this. Jimmy is pretty good at riffing on this and finally got to work Matt Damon in this bit for real.
I wondered if Andrew was aware of this ongoing joke between Jimmy and Matt Damon!😂
We love andrew Scott
We are you?
Just binge watched the show. Absolutely loved it. Bravo, Andrew Scott 👏
What a darling man!
Jimmy says “who would pick up on the subtle accents?” but having watched Ripley before this video, i did. it was one of the things i noticed very much because (i think) the actors playing italians are italian so speak it well and when andrew scott appears speaking italian its completely american sounding!! i could hear more irish accent in the english language bits than italian.
The best interpretation of the book so far, even better than the old movie with Delon. Sooo good. I hope they will adapt the other books as well.
I just discovered him a few months ago as Hot Priest and OMG he's phenomenal. What a major talent. Gift.
Amazing miniseries ❤ i watched it in 2 days... everything is amazing also the cat.
Can’t wait to for another season! I want to know the whole deal of Ripley! matt damon’s Ripley has been one of my fav character, and the TV series will be my fav drama
A. Scott is so freaking hot!
Love this guy.
Ripley series was amazing
Amazing actor. Loved him in SHERLOCK and RIPLEY. And in interviews, he's so nice, funny and humble too.
Best series ever
I’d love to have a G&T with Andrew. He’s so fun. And so talented and passionate. ❤
Stunning in every way. Just outrageously insanely talented, and very beautiful. What a gift.
What a lovable guy
British/Irish/European actors and actresses are so talented, they get picked more and more over actual American actors to play American roles.
Why is that?
@@prettygorgeous7989 Land of Shakespeare. Hundreds of yrs tradition of acting.
@@judithargitay9860Then why didn’t they come up with the movie industry.
@@prettygorgeous7989 Cannes and Venice Film Festival ring a Bell? Sundance? World famous TV series iike Poirot? The film industry does not equal to Hollywood excusively.
@@judithargitay9860 reading is fundamental. American’s started the film industry. I wonder why Europe/Irish/ British didn’t. Isn’t Sundance American.?
“You’re much better than Matt Damon in it…” 😅
Remarkable that he is able and willing to do this interview only three weeks after his mother, with whom he is very close, died after a brief illness. Many sympathies to him and his family.
Love this guy!!!
Really talented guy and so nice.
Andrew rocks!! Love him since Moriarty and glad that FINALLY he's got film industry attention as he deserves.
Fantastic in black mirror as well!!!
Love this guy. He’s a great performer and shows how warm and genuine he is in real life, just like the Irish are.
Love his digs at Matt Damon.
The best Ripley for me
Moriarty was first time I saw him and everyone since it's been always talented
love this Guy
Is the entire Ripley on Netflix or is it coming out weekly? I may sign up for a trial if I can watch it all.
Hes the best
God i love this man so much
Now I will watch Ripley. Been shunning it for days.
It was only released yesterday.
It’s incredible. One of the best series I’ve ever seen. He is mesmerizing in this. And the actor who played the detective was also incredible.
It was kind of Jimmy Kimmel not to mention family to Andrew in this chat, as Andrew just lost his beloved Mum suddenly only weeks ago in March. Andrew was great to be able to fulfil his proffessional obligations to promote his projects given how raw the loss is. Such a talented charming man, God bless him.
Vanya was an absolute masterclass. Captivating 🙌🙌🙌
His plays are the only reason I wish I lived in UK.
Irish King❤️🔥
He is wonderful in A Dark Place. It’s the only thing I’ve seen him in so far. I will watch more now.
I just watched Ripley series his acting was so good and his chilling acting make me scared of Tom Ripley
When I binge-watched Ripley, I didn’t realize it’s a re-interpretation of “The Talented Mr Ripley.” I barely remember that movie. It’s so cool that they took the same basic plot and made it so different. I also didn’t realize Andrew Scott wasn’t American. I also didn’t realize that was Dakota Fanning. Andrew Scott really nails the American accent. You can also hear his character’s learning arc, as he becomes fluent in Italian. The British and Irish actors I’ve seen on Netflix are so great at acting as well as accents. Now I want to see all his other performances. He seems like a genuinely nice person as well as an amazing talent
On a side note, I was also really intrigued to find that Sting’s child was in Ripley. Eliot Sumner. All great & interesting actors
gr8 show, episode 5 was nerve racking AF!
Oh ❤❤❤❤❤
Watch the series Sherlock. He is the villain, Moriarty. Awesome series! Including Benedict Cumberbatch & Martin Freeman. 💗
Never heard of him, but he's a likeable guy.
He was an Oscar nominee for best actor, just this year. His fellow Irishman, Cillian Murphy won that award for 'Oppenheimer' instead. The Irish give the film industry some truly top-notch talent.
@@janetkriegl6720 he was unfairly snubbed at the oscars.
Was nominated for a Golden Globe not Oscar sadly.
Andrew sounded so serious when he said, “You think?” I wonder what he knows and who 👀
Wow Bradley looking younger than ever 🤯
Fun Fact: At least a few of those Nun letters must have come with polaroids.
I dreamed about him last night. I just asked for an autograph and he smiled at me and he was gorgeous as always
I loved his role in "Handsome Devil" (co-starring Nicholas Galitzine) ❤
Excellent role, as was Nick’s - with rugby and guitar.
