not sure if they were a scandinavian or canadian invention, however i think you can chain up and chain down on the roll, meaning you dont have to struggle to get moving again after chaining, OR remove the fenders to fit them.

another great video, I suppose Mark is very savvy in that some of the add ons are basically helping him do his job with the minimum of effort such as the auto tyre chain device. Being a veteran of 35 years of trucking he knows what he wants and the truck is amazing plus he has the best partner in his beautiful dog.

Fantastic cascadia only 2 things I would change. 1 high tower 5th wheel too many places where your fenders tent to get damage. 2 separate swichs for auto chains 1 front n 1back save a lot headaches later on not all state require maximum chain.. I'm curious how he backs under trailers. I'd be too paranoid that a trailer would be too low and destroy the fenders. It looks as if the angle/guide sits lower than the fender. So wouldn't a trailer slam into the fender before going up on the 45° of the frame?

There's a really good video that shows how the auto chains work. Pretty genius idea. I've been thinking about getting some. Might do it this year before winter.
I'm back home right now. Broke down for the first time in a LONG time. Had to leave the truck in Arkansas, rented a car to get back home until it's fixed. Injector Cups went out, so I had a light on the dash for water in the fuel, and there was about half a gallon of fuel in my coolant reservoir. Hoping it'll be fixed next week so I can get back on the road. I had some really good loads lined up, too! But, that's trucking... I'll get back out there soon enough.
If I were up in the north more and needed to chain up often, then I'd say it's worth it. I only needed to chain up once this winter and I could've just sat it out but I was in training and needed to learn the skill anyway.
The one that was on that truck is actually not a good brand. It rust and has lots of problems. Prime switched over to a different brand called the X-Guard. I'm not sure where they buy them from but you may be able to look it up online.
From other companies, I don't know. Probably a lot. With Prime, we're doing well still. I didn't really see a slow down. Plus Prime will let you go in the negative if needed. Advantages of working with such a large carrier. Reefer helps too due to the flexibility.
The thing I mostly see is mismanagement of money. If you're netting $4000 a week and you're not putting half that into the business you'll fail. Going out and mortgaging a house and buying a new car isn't smart. Low Rates don't mean shit if your overhead isn't high.
@@robertpolkamp where the heck are you working that you're getting almost $3 a mile let's say 400 miles.. and you get maybe a buck-fifty 4/600 miles maybe less.. I'm hearing this from all kinds of trucker so I don't know where you're getting almost $3 a mile from
It's been a while since I did this video, however I just spoke with Mark the other day and asked him about the chains. He says that so far, he has had no issues with them and he's already looking into getting his next truck. He says the auto chains are definitely going to be on it.

What a great video and great truck!! I’ve been an independent trucker since 1998. Yes back when you waited 7 months to get your Authority by snail mail ! Lol. I use to drive hoods, but do to injuries and arthritis issues I currently have a 2017 Cascadia with DD13 and DT12 tranny. Still have a 48’ aluminum flatbed hauling steel, PVC pipe and shingles. Not sure how much longer I’ll be able to do that though. Probably go to tanker or van in the future. Only question I have for you and Mark is what motor and tranny does Mark have, and will he be going with a different package in the future?? Once again great video and truck. I’m now a subscriber. I know plenty of tall drivers. Obviously that's a bit taller than average though! How do you even breathe with the thinner atmosphere up there??? 😁 The bunks hold Twin XL mattresses which are 80“ (6'8") long. Same length as a queen or standard king. If you need more room than that, you'll need to sleep standing up 🤣

Yeah, I saw that one too. I contacted the dealer about them a while back. To do one axel would be about $2,200, which isn't too bad.

Is that Reefer, dry van, flatbed, tanker, expedited, etc? What type of load and how many miles?
Auto-chains are awesome lol they are amazing but tend to break more often due to the additional mechanical pieces.
