    Riding in the oncoming lane is fine if the centre line is dotted and you are giving way to oncoming traffic. Filtering is perfectly legal if you are careful and considerate. Although there is something in the highway code about not going to the front of traffic lights? ~Having said that, there was lots of empty space because the Bus took up too much of the right hand lane.

    • @007djrose
      @007djrose Před 6 lety +1

      Yes, it's no different to overtaking on normal roads - keep your eyes open ahead, you need a safe place to pull into if necessary, and always be aware of what is behind and to the side of you.
      I always advise new and old riders to, if they haven't already, do these.
      1 - Attend a Biker Down course, it's about 3 hours and it's free. I don't know where you are but search for Biker Down in your area - roadsafety-gloucestershire.org.uk/bikerdown/
      2 - Book a BikeSafe day, morning lectures and then out on the road with police riders for the afternoon. They assess and advise on your riding. Excellent day out which costs around £25.00. www.bikesafe.co.uk/
      3 - if you want to I'd also look up RoSPA or IAM and take an Advanced Rider Training course. I've been riding since 1974 and still learning stuff, brilliant.

    • @007djrose
      @007djrose Před 6 lety

      Absolutely not breaking the law, if it is safe, no oncoming traffic, and not obstructing or causing an illegal issue, there is nothing wrong with crossing the line as long as it is not a continuous white line.
      A really great reference guide is 'Roadcraft - The Police Riders Handbook', it is used for advanced rider training and explains a huge amount that I didn't know despite being a biker since 1974.

    Bike cops in the UK are generally cool I find. I was taking a rest at a countryside petrol station while out for a Sunday ride once, just sat on a wall minding my own business watching people go by and a CBR1000 went flying past. 20 seconds later, a cop pulled in and we had a 10 min chat about how he'd been trying to to catch and pull the CBR but down that road he just couldn't catch him on his bulky VFR police bike (it was very tight and twisty). He was laughing about grinding his pegs and toes. He even said the guy was a pretty good rider and quite safe too but wanted to just ask him to slow down a bit. He wasn't even gonna ticket him. We talked bikes for a few mins then he was on his way...

      VEHICLES
      Section 87 The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by Sec 19 Road
      Safety Act 2006
      No, it is not OK if someone is injured because Police vehicles still have to be driven with reasonable consideration for other road users and not in a dangerous manner, but they are allowed to exceed the speed limit. They are exempt from having to stop at red traffic lights too. I cannot comment on whether the 'other guy' is exempt.

    The seem like a gang not giving a poop about laws and stuff.... Except their jackets say "police" instead of "hells angels"...

    Great vlog RoyalJordanian , Love the copper sitting clocking your bike, bet he was doing some mental comparisons and wishing he could swap bikes for an hour or two ;-) Any reason why you were allowing them to pull away between stops ;-)

      Ryu's RAMPAGE his bike would have been just as quick if he went above 3000 rpm, he didn't have a baffle in if he revved it too high he'd get in trouble.

    Keeping it under 3k RPM the whole way hahaha, quietest S1000 I've heard when riding with them

  • @nastyevilninja

    They were using their power to 'make progress' well! You could definitely tell you were keeping the revs down as you got close to them, but how hard were they really pulling away compared to you? Nice vid!

    Entering areas of white diagonal stripes, crossing stop lines on red lights some good examples of riding.

    I wish lane splitting was legal in Michigan (USA), quite a few times I'm just sitting waiting for the light, wasted petroleum and wasted time. Waiting for the winter to be over now though. O°F is getting old. Cool videos!

    BMW's boxer twins are really heavy motorcycles, those RT-P's are even heavier, they carry two batts, fire extinguishers, radio eq. etc..I'm saying those things are almost 300 kgs, the solution is a low CG and keep everything else as balanced as possible. They ride like a scooter.

  • @russianvoodoo

    They made good progress but RJ makes better progress on his own, haha.
    Pulling up past the stop line is clearly not legal but seeing them cops do it I don't feel bad now, it's about making good progress and keeping yourself safe!
