Swiss I have an idea for you, could you fly to Gisborne airport in New Zealand 🇳🇿 ( it has train tracks that runs through it) 👍
I think hes going to do it now lol
I hope he does it would be a cool video
@@aviationboi7134 yea
I want to fly there myself now . I will have to check it out tomorrow, New Zealand has some amazing airports.
Anndddd Swiss001 gave it a heart, congratz. That means there is 90 percent chance he saw my comment...
Fun fact: In the 1950’s people by Area 51 thought they saw ufos when it was actually U2s being tested at KXTA.
Homey Airforce Base right?
Yes, I like that place very much.
Everybody is my homie there.
Cool
Wow
NorCal Aviation, ahem, 1950s - 1980
As a glider pilot i can defenetely tell you that we dont JUST land on grass we do also land on asphalt in winter or if we like to..
this lol. I just made a comment about this and using more rudder when rolling.
Swiss001: I have no idea what these sWitChEs dO?!???
Me: don’t turn them on
Swiss001: *TuRnS oN tHe SwItChEs*
Boooom *plane explodes*
Maybe that was why the cockpit had red stuff
@@shuoming7494 yeah, it was fire test or smth like that
@OOF
Two more facts:
- To land a U2 you need assistance from a Guy in a Car that chase you on the Runway. (Matching Speed)
- The pictures the U2 took back in the days were handled by staff with *magnifying glasses* also the "printout" of these pictures were huge in diameter.
So they could identify the stuff they spied on
7:45 the red stuff is the pilots head exploding because of trying to land
Ultra realism
Lol
Swiss: talks about the u2
Me: oh no he will crash
what
Yhe b2 is well known for being hard to land
Smew oh he fly u2 and he will crash 😂😂😭😭
lol 😂
Swiss001: there’s a yoke
The yoke: “am I a yoke to you”
Take your like and get out. You know the way.
😅ngl you got me
The five seconds... what a yoke!
@@xytxmadarav5887 karma!
U2: We are the best thing that exists with this glorious name
Lockheed U2: Hold my wingspan
The band literallly was named like that because of the plane
Po-2 (originally called U-2): Hold my vodka
Why are you everywhere

I really like these facts at the end of 10 min long videos, please do this for every video
The "China" you've mentioned was Republic of China, which is now Taiwan, not the mainland one. Due to political issues, it is confusing.
李宗諺 right!
Yeah, "political"
Real China
Isn’t it the Peoples Republic Of China?
@@smogdanoff7053 the People's Republic of China (PRC) is mainland China, Taiwan's official name (which is still their official name) is the Republic of China (ROC)
I was waiting for this video for so long !
I remember seeing these at Beale Air Force Base. The landings were crazy. A couple of higher ranked crew chiefs would chase the plane down in a special camaro to catch on to a wing to prevent it from scraping. Looked wild.
Oh it scrapes. There’s titanium plates on the wingtips though.
@@stryker334 Oh, I was unaware of this. Nice.
The interview today was very interesting✌
I've actually worked on a U2 as a mechanic!
I used to study aircraft mechanics in an aviation museum.. and I only removed one panel.. But still something not a lot of people can say they've done, haha
4:42 "We cannot see the aircraf... oh there it is actually" XD
Soviet SAMs: Allow us to introduce ourselves.
This video was a suggestion and immediately recognized the background and airport, hoped you enjoyed my home town
I was waiting for this thanks
That very good video Good job Swiss
Happy Birthday Swiss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 20 june 1999-20 june 2020 Succes for you Swiss (GOD BLESS YOU)
"they are very stealthy"
Blackbird, Sam turrets at USSR and Cuba: Are you sure about that?
My grandfather flew many planes including this one. Not going into detail of why but yes the pictures are clear even for the 60-70’s they used
The ends of the wings are made of titanium and it's there so the airplane can lean on them. The plane is kinda meant to topple over. When it comes to a complete stop, people will put the little disposable wheels back on
Happy birthday Swiss!!!
You can land a glider on asphalt and I've done it a couple of times. The plane tips over just when it's about to stop so there isn't to much sliding. And giders have replaceable skids on the wing tips.
Baguio airport in the Philippines! It's 5000 ft in the mountains. It's usually foggy in the dawn and dusk too
That’s awesome I just found this! I just seen a video of James May riding in this!! There so fricken cool!!
Edit: they use cars that follow it while landing! Since the nose points more upwards so the pilot can’t really see where to go once he actually gets on the ground!! It’s super cool!!
You should land in Mexico City. Lots of buildings!
L05 kern valley airport lots of mountains
Or in New York, I call it the "Concrete jungle" :(
Day 22 of asking swiss to use more the DC-10 and the MD-11 in his videos.
Yes. A proper autopilot howto for the MD-11 would be more than welcome.
I cursed that beast a few times.
Happy Birthday Swiss!
If you could, do an video with the LSZS Samedan Airport. It is in the switzerland alps and it has a very cool departure and arrival procedure. It is an business jet airport.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWISS!
SWISS why were you taking pics of my house?
*I read that one before watching the video lol*
H
lol
@@My_AviationChannel lol, I feel it
The way he pronounce "reconnaissance" made my think about France for some reasons XD
7:05 It’s funny how Swiss always jinx’s himself. 🤣
You should also go to midway atoll and all those tiny islands.
I have been waiting for this a long time
Love the anecdote to make the video 10 minute long! More of it please
Happy birthday swiss!
You make such good videos
She moves in mysterious ways!
Bruu I've been here since 2k subs broo GG
Swiss: this is the Hardest plane to fly
GtaV pilots: *you underestimated my Power*
You should try Watson Ville Municipal airport. It is as you would say very interesting one.
Who loves going on CZcams and just waiting for his video's all night
I really waited for this video😂. I expect a lot, ok just kidding. I‘m sure it‘s gonna be great.
Swiss "it's actually been flying for 63 years how impressive" B-52 opens bomb bay "bro am I a joke to you?"
Luv your vids
We need to see a dog fight between multiple U2s. All while U2 plays in the background.
I love how he says Cuba!! Lol!! 😂
I like the way he said reconnaissance 😂he says it in a French way
The U2’s wings are so long that half a wing is like the length of the plane.
Nice idea
Swiss, the US air force supplied the pilots and aircraft, the CIA gave the missions. Also, the U-2 "dragon lady" is capable of supplying live footage to mission base.
I saw in a video how they use two fast driving cars and some people onboard the cars to catch the wings with their hands during the landing of the U2 so to prevent the wings not touching the ground..
I remeber that swiss never talked in previous videos 😮it's been long time since I watched your videos bro
It's really impressive how siwss001 has improved a lot , I've been in this channel when he did he's first ever video and ( if I'm not wrong ) he was doing a challenge flying a plane in "infinite flight" with 45,000+ knots ( I think )
Swiss001 great ideas: *exist*
Swiss001: "Let's spy on the simulator"

Swiss-I’m just a dumb pilot he’s actually pretty good
No he is not
LucasAU you are just a hater
@@lucashurst4191 Stop Raging Lucas.
Yes he is he actually flys a plane
@@lucashurst4191 Hes a good pliot hes flys A PLANE
Swiss001 you can also fly to Cox's Bazaar airport in Bangladesh 🇧🇩 it's basically surrounded by old airplanes and it has a super short runway.
Quick suggestion u should do a series where you do videos of the subjects you say and that’s another story
For the flying it seems like you where not giving it enough rudder when rolling. On gliders when you roll the plane will also yaw so you have to use the rudder to counter act it. Also fun tip gliders can land on paved runways and isnt all the uncommon. it just depends on the airfield you fly at.
Interesting video
I guess next topic about military planes.
Try comparing B1B and Tu-160, they are beautiful btw.
Epic video!!!
If I'm remembering correctly the wingtip is supposed to settle on the ground during landing. Thats why there are buldges on the wingtips.
Fun fact that the camera in the U-2 the US had to many camera systems to U-2's in service, so in the 90's the RAF was asked if they wanted some for are EE Canberra, so then the U-2 Cameras where put in some EE Canberra's they found that the EE Canberra took better pictures then the U-2 was able to, and both UK and US both agreed that the RAF with the U-2's Camera and the EE Camberra was the was better.
damn one of these flew over my house last week, some veteran pilot had a commemoration or something
Swiss, you are in love with California!
Something I never knew until watching an Area 51 documentary is that Area 51 was originally going to be a temporary facility for testing the U-2. I also never knew that the U-2 was classified under Project Aquatone. I must say, "Aquatone" does have a good ring to it.
Swiss, make a video about Cancun Airport, one part of the taxiway is a bridge above a street on Cancun, Greetings from Mexico 😃👍
Hey swiss the U2 Can Land on Asphalt runways because it has rubber blocks on the ends of the wings. Yes Dump truck but on landing its been called a bicycle. Also the U2 program I believe got shutdown.
The ground effect as strong with this one

Try out Marco Island Airport in Florida. You will love it. The runway is very short and is surrounded by ocean.
this plane is great
The plane is made to tip over on landing it has some things on the tip of the wings that are made to skid on the runway.
I love U2
Swiss is the best
Swiss001: 2:50 It feel like driving a Garbage Truck, you dont have any control
Indian Railways Train: Allow us to introduce ourselves
It is so hard to land that they actually have to use a chase car to help guide the U-2 down to the runway to ensure the U-2 lands properly. The chase car driver is also a U-2 pilot and they radio back and forth every step of the way for the plane to make small adjustments to ensure perfect, level touchdown.
The chase car is also used to attach the wheels to end of the wings of the U-2 immediately after touchdown so it can taxi back to the hangar (on takeoff, the wheels on the wing fall off and are picked up by the chase car to be reattached for landing).
Partially correct, there is a chase car but it's not the vehicle that picks up the pogos (that's what the temporary wing wheels are called). There is a truck called the pogo truck that has a rack on the side for all the pogos and it follows the chase car.

You forgot to mention that at 65k feet altitude you have like 10kts difference between your stall speed and your Never Exceed speed where the airplane starts to break apart.
Damn
Hello swiss you are the MASTER
You also did not mention that then u-2 also has a chase car that helps it land with radio calls and centering
Has anyone else noticed how many of these have been sent on missions from EGVA. Great video btw as always Swiss! Keep it up!
3:39 my HOUSE is right there!!! Just below the right wing flaps in that valley!!!, AGAIN at 4:14 in the middle!! I can see my hiking train ahhhhhhhhhhh
AFAIK even current U2s are still entirely analog gauges. This U2 is probably using this more modern style of cockpit out of convenience and accessibility. They also have a massive downward looking periscope where the digital artificial horizon is.
0 dislikes... *perfection*
you incidentally took a picture of the town that i grew up in haha
Swiss001: The U2 is kinda like a glider
Also Swiss001: It has a very powerful jet engine

Can you make a video if reverse thrust makes any difference in the landing difference than without?
