    Remington 870 20 GUAGE with 21 inch barrel, JEBS headhunter 560 and APEX TSS, patterning with APEX turkey ninja #8.5s and GT-20 #9s at 40 yards also trying a Hevi-shot magnum blend at 40 yards. Very impressed with the TSS and the jebs combo out of my 870, hopefully this video will help you decide what choke and pattern to shoot out of your 870 20 gauge! Definitely get an Indian Creek .555. I’m using the exact same gun as you and with the Apex no.9 shot I’m getting over 330 hits in the 10” circle at 42yds. Good luck this season!

    I want to try the ninjas but I have the same gun from Wally twat with the Indian creek .555 and it shoots well. I shoot tss 9s . 50 yards plus . I don't like to have to hold to the right when the bird is out a bit . 10 to 20 yds it shoots dead on . Once you get out past that I have to put the beed to the right but the left side of the beed is on the right side of the birds head still touching the birds head . Hope that makes since .

    I feel that challenging myself to get those birds within 30 is allot of the fun of turkey hunting. I too want a tight pattern at 40+ but if you think it sucks shooting at a bird at 40+ and him not going down. Wait tell you get one in to 15 and your shotgun is shooting like a rifle and you shoot to one side of his head on accident. An even pattern from 10-40 yards is better then the most pellets in a 10" circle at 40.

    • @justusmccainhunting
      @justusmccainhunting  Před 3 lety

      I agree 100%!! I have only shot one or two birds over 40 yards since I’ve been turkey hunting. I have been scared a couple times with my other guns that if it’s to close I will miss due to a tight pattern and one of them I almost did. I agree that one of the fun parts of turkey hunting is getting them within 30 yards or even closer it’s a rush like no other. I am anxious to get the 20 gauge out there and see what it will do on a turkey I’ve always used a 12 gauge for turkeys. Good luck this season!! Please subscribe and keep an eye out for action this spring thank you for watchin!!!

    Look into Meadow Creek mounts for ribbed shotguns. You can mount a red dot to it and set that 870 up right.
