I've been immersing myself into Elixir for the past year and cannot stop absolutely enjoying it every time. Such a huge respect to José for all his work! 👏
It is an awesome language and community. I worked with elixir for 2 years (2017 to 2019) and it was amazing. Sadly I needed to focus on C# at that moment and then kind of drift away from it. But I love everything about it. 2 things that I miss the most is the pipe operator and the powerful and beautiful way to pattern match (without needing a switch case), especially pattern match on function definitions. This is so good because you don't need branching your code with if/else. Just make the function signature pattern match what you expect... This is so beautiful and powerful and your code gets really simple that way. It is amazing. I miss it.
Livebook looks really awesome. Btw what's the music? It's equally as awesome
Great talk! A real shame about the slides.
I'm the first!
Congratulations! You're speed is limitless!
So still no actual info on the types. This is the dozenth time I’ve heard of it, still have no clue what to expect for code if they ever land.
The talk about types will be released to the public on August, right now it's accessible to the conference attendees. But it's worth the wait!
Yep, still no info, it was not the focus with that keynote. It is not even close to stable, so no reason to focus on that for that talk.
@@CodeSync I mean, this misses the point I’m making, which is that we have no idea what we’re waiting for. A paper? A talk? A type checker? A notebook? There’s no info on what literal work is being done.
I’m not an Elixir user but I’m keeping an eye on the type situation because I’m interested, but this is just badly blundered PR work in a competitive field.
@@qzozp A paper and a talk.
