Great vid! I love it when the trench coats start commenting, it makes me chuckle, some are right corkers and others are just WTF? To be honest I really liked what you did….and the weathering was spot on for what you were trying to show, an abandoned aircraft waiting for a rebuild. I see some builds on FB that I think are a bit naff but I also see somethings that have been done in those same builds that really catch my eye. I’m not going to tell some one their build is shite….doesn’t help anyone and would make me look like an arse. I enjoy the music in the background…..some pick some odd tunes and in that case I just mute the sound. Keep modelling Sully. Make what you enjoy and show the world your talent!

@@SullysScaleModels LOL! All good, I really like your take on finishes, it’s quite refreshing! I don’t try to knock anyone as I build so few kits due to work life and kids that anything I say would be inappropriate. I’ve had people knock some of my builds (I built one of the old white box Airfix 1/72nd Albatross DVa kits with a robot in the seat….), but I’m not worried, I built it for my own fun and I’m still happy with it, I usually thank them for taking the time to look! Had a thought….why not put a pair of ladies knickers on the pilots seat in that gannet build….should get some comments!

Regarding the other subject, everyone is an individual & any rendition of a built model, is completed from the view of the builder, references & interpretation by that individual, at whatever skill level they are at. I've been modeling since early 70's. I often kick myself as many silly mistakes thai can recall doing are now 'Weathering techniques years on I'm still an OTB builders little bit of weathering chipping g etc but that's about it but it gives me the desired result. I do love it when someone builds their first kit and is braver than me and posts a pic, especially the younger new comers to what has to be one of, if not the best hobby. I will always give a like. It's also good when someone wants to go to the next level a d asked for advice and some come back with subtle constructive replies, and tips. That's the thing being Constructive and helpful, Not nitpicking off putting mockery. No matter how good a modeller is that is probably how they were at the start. All they do is belittle themselves which is very sad in itself. Glad you posted this, and I think the Chipmunk looks gret

    Hi.
I had a Chipmunk type rating back in the day, but that's irrelevant, I think most people who say that sort of thing are just showing off (see my next paragraph! 😎). I think most of the negative comments came from people didn't realise this was an abandoned aeroplane, but that's me trying to be generous. If I was being even more generous, I'd say they were "misguided".
I also flew Tornados, the F3, and I flew them in the Gulf. No, they didn't get that dusty inside, but who cares, it's your model. And they are called "jet pipes", we never, ever called them exhausts, or exhaust pipes. Or the big tanks "Hindenburgers" whilst I'm at it, but then that's "modellers" for you.
I also have a CZcams channel, and I've had some similar comments too; I also find them hilarious! Especially the flouncing off shouting they're inscribing. I think they're the funniest! If they are plain rude though, I just block them!
Lastly, I am a big fan of derelict models and I've built loads in my time. I really liked your model, I thought it was great!

    Hello...Well you got a subscription from me....ain't you lucky😂
Been there with the content and yes, it does burn you out. So many experts.... We had one (he writes books you know) who insisted we re paint one of our aircraft because it didn't fit his spec. Oddly when I suggested that if he funded the project as well as supplying a stand in for the display season...and it would look the same because THAT WAS HOW SHE RETIRED....oddly he didn't reply.
Yep...I hated it right until I got the birds nest comment then....brilliant. I can learn a lot from that build and anyone who has been around aircraft for any time will have seen hangar Queens leaking their life blood. BDR hulks full of holes...many patched, some speed taped, canopies stitched and glued, sometimes outside so they go green, then fade. Some fire dumps are chock full and it's heart rending but true. Just look outside the Army flying mausoleum for some truly abandoned legends. I know of at least 1 wessex with nest and eggs...it was 87 so perhaps the EU banned the practice🙄
Speed tape on fabric? Never seen it but if you have, cool. We patched over some metal holes with doped fabric or speed tape so happy days.
Inside of cabs....really depends on the environment. In active service leaks would often get .mopped up as a tell tale, is it manageable? Is it grabbing dirt and hiding a crack or doing more damage? Cockpits, can be pig sties if you live, eat, fart, sweat in them so yea, they could be a mess. We were digging sand out of ours for years after.
Overall weathering, can sometimes be good to remember that we did have pride in the aircraft so we did try and cleaning is actually part of servicing but get it right and😎. One day I might.
I think a lot of keyboard warriors have only ever seen cabs at airshows...pristine, painted for the circuit...
Great stuff. I have been involved in the ground up restoration of one chippy and re assembly of another, and have that kit sitting here for round 2.... lots of ideas for improvements from your build.
I will comment if I have actual experience that might help but usually via PM, no need to be defensive or crave an audience then eh? Just don't make the Lynx rotorhead fully articulated with floppy blades or we will find you.🤬😁
Finally if you are still awake. Exhaust....Jet pipe...perhaps the "expert" has not flown and looked at temp gauges reading JPT × 100 deg or EGT or TGT etc. Jet pipe temp, Exhaust gas temp, turbine gas temp, it all exists and is valid.
Just try telling someone you pulled 105% torque and hear the KIAs screech...you cannot have 105% of anything.
Engineers say otherwise and it just means you have exceeded max by 5% and may have some explanation to do. Bill like 11 on an amplifier except it really does mean things needed that bit of reserve.
Anyway nice job. Get it, love it, some great techniques, keep it coming👍

Good video. I am sometimes surprised by the amount of weathering some modelers choose to apply to their subjects, but I also think that the model is an expression of the modelers ingenuity, creativity and artistic skill.
To the chap who suggested that combat aircraft are 'cleaned to a high standard after every mission'? Well, possibly in a peacetime environment, but in a war zone that aircraft may sortie 2, 3 or more times every day for days at a time. Keeping the aircraft serviceable for the next strike is all that matters. If something needs to be cleaned in order to work then it gets cleaned, otherwise not so much.

And... it's hard not to bite back when some dick posts their opinion like it's the only opinion in the world but we try and remain professional and look away, but what they fail to realise is we're not professional, we haven't got the BBC behind us, a post production team, sound engineers, camera crew, etc. It takes me roughly 8 hours to edit a 30 minute video, HOPING I've done a right enough job but to then get slagged off by a non-creator 😡😡😡😡
I digress. Great looking chip, got the feeling I know exactly what the sea king is going to look like, keep doing what you do, great builds, great easy to view Content, sound bloke.

The non creators are the worst! Iv been luck so far really but my mates have had some right shitty comments on theres! And ye they fail to relies that most of us youtubers aren't professional editors! I dunno how long it really takes me I do it in drips and stabs! I film small sets that I think I M going to want then trim them and get trimmed again when narrating. But you do yours as you go witch is good course you don't have to remember what you doing in edit lol but the same as modelling all do different things and why for the best part people come back! I do instead on doing a video on being a modeling youtuber just for a fun video.
I don't think you do with the Sea King lol

What you have to do is realise how sad they must be to be that way! Luckily there fewer that the people that support me. I do also find them in ways very entertaining and sometimes wind up lol thanks mate I'm hopping the Sea King and Gannet will wind a few up😁

Watched your video, liked it a lot, i build wht i like how i like, my colours are all over the place (colour blind), i don't care, i prefer models to look weather beaten, and abandoned

Empty vessels make the most noise don't they! Personally, I find intro's irritating, so I skip forward. No drama. You want to have a sponsor section? Guess what, that get's skipped as well. My preference, I don't need to complain about it.

One problem I have is the word 'hate'. You dramatize things like many others on here (Harry Houdinie etc). The word hate is a powerful and destructive word. When I see the posts that are claimed as hate I laugh. It's just 'dislike'. Grow up get a pair.......(That is not hate)

I thought he was a magician? If you are a creator on youtube no mater what you content is you need to get people to watch you video and ‘why did this Chipmunk her so much dislike’! Isn’t really gona get people in no is it! Clearly it works because you watched the video,
Which i thank you for! It was just abit of a fun video and that one comment is the reason for the video because it was the funniest comment i have ever had! And wanted to make a bit of a fun video for my self on some of the daft comments youtubers get
