yeah. I'll admit these 80s cartoons are great despite most of them recycling the same body type for each attractive male and female character I still love them. I just started watching Jem and the holograms and I love them. And the music. I love the eighties culture of Los Angeles, especially the wild voluminous hair.
The music. The magic. The drama. The romance. The action. The beautiful animation. Jem was/is a gem 💎 of a cartoon. VERY one of a kind! It STILL resonates with so many of us especially us 80s kids who grew up watching it! ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm from a country where we'd only see this aired on either Saturday mornings or Thursday afternoons. And of course there wasn't a consistency with the episodes either. There having a movie and dolls is a shock to me at this point. But honestly if this cartoon was as popular as it appears to be, then that would be expected. You remember Saturday morning cartoons? That was such a magical time back then.

I like the Roxy Rumble episode, the Kimber and Stormer episode, and the Brit Rock episode. They really took time to show us the characters background and personalities. I love Jem and the Holograms
If you think about it, Jerrica made Rio a two timer, because he was in love with both Jerrica and Jem and didn't even know they were both one in the same. Lol

If you look, at this show, Jem is actually a soap opera in cartoon form. What Rio was doing was what was seen, on the soap operas, at the time and still is.

Thanks for posting this! It's a very interesting edit and it is written so well that it has continuity throughout the story! The clever idea of putting clips into the music videos of the previous action in the show ties it together well. I know the first five episodes by heart as they were broadcasted so I caught the different lines in this one! I also got more insight to the jokes that were cut short too. Odd how this edit contains some extended moments... the big one being the screaming Jem impersonators vs the screaming Misfit impersonators in the crowd outside the battle of the bands venue. In the televised version you see the ruckus briefly and I remember rewinding it and watching it over and over again confused - were they really Jem and the Misfits outside the venue screaming at each other? Glad to know the mystery is solved!
The screaming outside the concert where just reused character designs, animation takes a lot of time and money and it would of been easier to reuse the character designs then design an entire new cast of characters who only appear for a few minutes.
i feel like Jerrica should have told rio at some point that she was jem. they could have brought in a new character to the jem circle that they need to keep the secret from to keep that element in the story. like inthe form of a new manager for jem and the holograms. Jerrica wants to step down from the manager position of the group to just focus on being jem.
This was one of my fav things on the world as a kid. My cousin had a few of the dolls (she's 5 years older than me) and let me trade her Barbies for them. They may still be in my childhood storage but idk, i hope so!!! Also thanks so much for sharing this! My old vhs molded and croaked a long time ago.

Only difference between both is that the background music is different between scenes and the songs in the super Sunday version are shorter than what they are in the movie. Also in the super Sunday version, the Misfits perform "Takin' It All" before Jem & The Holograms arrive at Starlight drive in whereas in this version, "Takin' It All" is performed after Jem & The Holograms arrive at Starlight drive in. These two for me are the best versions of the first five episodes. The remastered version was terrible

That photo evidence of Synergy Eric took with him will be seen later again in the series. It's when the Group goes to Washington. 💁 "Presidential Dilemma" Which actually is the another time Synergy gets taken apart. Transport her to DC. Put her back together. Just be Taken apart again to be studied by government officials.
Rhino's version differs the most at the end (no 3rd season, episodes 53-65). The biggest difference is any version that has any of the Super Saturday / Sunday cut episodes vs. the whole ones. No version had the colors totally right (check Pizzazz's hair color, for example; should've been Highlighter Neon Yellow, as in the Integrity dolls).
Watching this I notice right away you included parts that was edit out later due to time spots. Depending on the network that was playing full episodes

Pizzazz was the complete opposite of Jem. She just didn't have the magic earrings.

After the Stingers debuted in the last season, the Misfits weren't shown as much.

I used to hate the misfits as a lil kid but now as an adult they are my absolute favorite! They rock so hard!
I loved when the Misfits and the Holograms worked together to defeat a common enemy as well being rivals amongst themselves.
