Hi, Louise! What a lovely purchase to ease the traumatic issues of Older Child's gestation, birth and post-natal period! I'm so glad you got it! And I'm also glad that you did manage to get back to drawing and painting. If not, this channel wouldn't have existed and we wouldn't have got to know you!
I'm now feeling somewhat disillusioned, as I thought the palette was actually solid brass! I had been wondering how it could possibly be used anywhere outside, because it would be so heavy. 🤔 It's still beautiful though.
Thank you for showing us your swatch cards - and how easy it it is to put together a colour palette this way. I also like your not-currently-being--used paint box which makes swapping colours so easy to do.
I am pretty fed up when British artists call a paint box a palette. A watercolour palette is the thing we do the mixing on., or the set of colours the artist chooses for the art work, not the container. The box holds the paint pans, just as an oil or acrylic painter keeps the paints in a container till needed for the palette!
Do I apologise for (possibly) being pedantic? Well, no! It's only very recently that a paint _box_ has begun to be called a palette (ie in the last 20 years or so) and it just makes things confusing!
In Britain, New Zealand and Australia, it's still a box, and a palette is the mixing tray. In France, a paint box is still a 'boite', not a 'palette'. In German, it is still Malkasten, and Farbpalette is the palette. I could go on, but I just wish that the British people were proud enough of their language not to be influenced by USA terminology! (Information from online art suppliers in each country!)
Incidentally, the invasion of English words into daily French use is a matter of debate here in France, too!
No apology for the rant, but it wasn't aimed at you, Louise - it was only prompted because you corrected yourself when you picked up the empty paint box, and then said "paint bo - palette". 🤔So please, Louise, please will you go on calling a paint box a paint box, and liking your W&N paints? It was wholeheartedly refreshing to see an ArtTube video where the choice was _not_ between fifteen or more other brands, but between two well-used brands. 😊

Im really glad i got it. At the time i thought, why have i spent this on myself when I've got nappies and clothes to buy, but we have to treat ourselves sometimes! I'm very glad i decided to make this channel too :) Lots of nice people and keeps me motivated to keep creating and sharing.
It is quiet heavy to hold in the hand for long periods of time! Much better to attach it to something if painting for hours. Under an hour i think would be okay.
Yeah I agree about the palette/ palette box argument. I do try to call it a palette/paint box most of the time but i understand alot of people call it just a palette. But if someone said a palette to me I'd automatically think the mixing surface immediately and not the place to store paint. If i make videos though i have a fair amount of americans who watch so I use the term palette for the palette box as well 😅. Feel free to rant away, us brits love a good winge!
I love winsor and newton and daniel smith, i tried a few other brands and sold them honestly when i still preferred those two. I do have mission gold and maybe one other but only 2-5 tubes of specific colours. winsor and newton is local and more affordable for me and daniel smith is my 'treat' paint!

Just so everyone knows, the plastic inserts are made EXACTLY THE SAME WAY as they were made for the original, and the original models are still in use TO THIS DAY so dont worry about them not lasting because they surely should last for you if proparly taken care of !
