Hi. It's interesting you didn't experience the buzzing from the controller. Others have substituted the supplied controller with a better quality one and the buzzing disappeared. I wonder whether it is anything to do with the connection to the power track.
The black tape covers a screw on the chassis above the bogie. It’s not needed so can be removed, if it’s not already fallen off. I’m told that it was there to prevent a potential oil leak, but turned out not to be needed
