  • I give an update of what is happening, and I ask my audience a question at the end of the video.
    Follow along as I rebuild, repair, and upgrade a Challenger 2 ultralight airplane. Ultimately I will be flying this airplane into the north country of Canada, on fishing and camping trips, as soon as she is ready to fly.

    Great update. I would focus on the major task at hand and get that engine going. Also, on the doors I would keep it simple and light. you can make some Velcro straps and I have 4 but not installed yet. Ill post pics on the challenger group and tag you. not sure who made them but I'm sure someone will chime in. Also, you can make some other little holders to keep the door closed by 3D printing little levers.

    Nice to have a EAA local chapter where you can keep your plane. I don't think any of the EAA chapters here where I live would allow that although I have to admit I never looked into it. Hangers here in Phoenix area are like gold people write up phony lease agreements so they can sublease their hanger to someone else and make profit off city owned hangers. The wait list is 5-8 years long now I want to buy a challenger since it's about all I can afford probably have to keep it an hour drive away until I can move. Been watching your channel for a while now can't wait to see it flying.

    Do the windshield 3rd door install. I'd like to see that.

    The bottle your using for your fogging fluid doesn't have a second hole to let air in. If all you have is one line, your just collapsing the bottle. Drill a hole at the top of the lid. That should help.

      Actually, the bottle does have a vent hole in it. It's located at the base of the threaded neck on the bottle itself. You can see it just below the cap when the cap is on, and it gives just enough space to insert the tube from the engine fog can to refill it.

      Maybe the hole isn't big enough. Heck if I know

    yes check stator out put ,,, wiring to reg rec etc..however if u want a little thing to do maybe fit a vertical drop filter ie a fuel filter with a vertical drop this will collect the water and debris in the fuel .how do i know this lol ...also how about 2 pick ups on fuel system going to 2 seperate fuel lines one using mikuni one using electric fuel pump a few one way valves and u will have fuel going to those carbies a lot of the time -ive yet to do this but its on the agenda little cost and weight

      Already have 2 fuel filters in line, one before each fuel pump, and another before the carbs. Also have two fuel separate fuel lines from the tank, one feeding each fuel pump, then to the manifold that has the fuel pressure sensor. A previous video shows all that.

    rear/engine view video cam, I'm gonna put on one mine, maybe two. you can get cheap steerable gimbles now from the rc folks
    is there another way they secure the carbs on the UL rotax other than the carb boots?

    Curious why didn't you move up to a 582? If budget I totally get it.

      I was planning on it, but you nailed it. Budget. When this engine is due for a major overhaul, I will give it serious consideration then.

    is that the standard carb vent tube positioning? not shorter tube around the top or even the back of mixer

    • @challenger2ultralightadventure
      @challenger2ultralightadventure  Před rokem

      If you are referring to the tube at the bottom of the carburetors, that loop from the left to the right, then yes that is the standard vent tubing position. The holes are at the bottom, to allow it to drain in the event any fuel does enter the tubes from the float bowl. The tubes can be purchased as a set, or you can make a set by simply using the proper diameter fuel rated tube, and create vent holes at the bottom of the loop.

      @@challenger2ultralightadventure I went up to mikuni vm36 carbs. they came with 440 main jets, I thought I heard someone use around 350 jets on this motor. we got some sperimentin to do.
