Great video on the DCT. I have it on my CTX 700. As I aged, arthritis in my left wrist made operating the clutch lever painful and difficult. Stalling was a real issue at low speed. I actually stopped riding and sold my old CB750 for 5 years until I discovered the CTX with DCT. I needed a lighter bike anyway, so I tried it. I've had it for 5 years, it is my last bike, and I love it. All the things you said about the Drive mode, in my case, and the sport mode are true. I'd never go back to standard shifting. Now I just enjoy the ride in serenity.👍🏾
thanks for watching! keep
on riding as long as you can!
Splendid little talk while cruising. Loved it. Warm greetings from Belgium.
welcome !!! thanks for stopping by !
Thanks ABUSA learned a lot. Bike does amazing things that years ago were only a dream
Thank you for this review and footage. I am getting close to buying one of these beautiful Hondas. I plan to take rides up into the mountains...Lake Tahoe and also Colorado and Montana. I will use the DCT to get to the foothills, then I would switch to manual mode and control my gears and rpm's accordingly. This is a great video and I think you so much for posting it.
you will LOVE this bike! such a tremendous machine! happy travels and thanks for watching!
I mainly ride mine either in tour or sport mode in manual as I like to have control of the shifting… when I practice it’s either rain or tour mode in manual bcs when I’m on the street I’m not gonna move it from tour to rain mode to make a turn so I practice in both modes…when my wife is on with me I leave it in auto and sit back and enjoy the ride… this beautiful bike checks all the boxes I love it… ride safe
Excellent review. It helped make up my mind about the DCT. The low speed maneuvers were my concern.
thank you for watching!
I bought my DCT 3yrs and 7k miles ago and absolutely love it! It is always in the right gear, not sure how they did that, but they did a good job. I have RA (reumatoid arthritis) and the DCT has extended my riding career.
Good to hear!
Great job explaining the DCT!
thanks 🙏🏽!!!!!
Love my 2022 DCT non tour.
Sport mode = awesome
Slow speed turning is tricky, just ride the front/rear brake, kinda like feathering the clutch !
Thanks for the information. With all the talk about the DCT slow speeds problems on CZcams, this really helps. I will practice manual speed. I will have my DCT bagger 2022 in a few weeks and looking forward to it. I really will need to practice slow speeds and turns, which are very important to manoeuvre safely. I had an NC750 DCT 2017 and never had any issues. My only concern is the heaviness of the bike. I will try not to think about it. LOL
you'll be fine ! just practice! thanks for watching!
That last run in sport.. I noticed it went from 5th to 4 then when you punched it we to 3rd!! Honestly it seems perfect and acts just like it should.. great job showing how the goldwing with DCT..!!
gracias sir
Nice video man...I have a honda vfr 1200f (interceptor) DCT. for slow maneuvers I put it in manual mode and always remains in 1st gear. peace ✌🏻
thanks! yes manual is the key !!!!!
I have the Honda NC750x DCT since about 3 weeks ago. I have been using it for going to work here in Amsterdam, a lot in the wet right now. There's 1 particular junction with negative road camber where she always likes to change up from 1st to 2nd in the curve and it freaked me out at first. So I started taking it real slow to stop her changing gear half way round the curve, but yea, in traffic it can annoy other drivers. So for that 1 junction I put her in manual and change manually until I get to the next junction and then she goes back into auto for the rest of the ride.
Anyway, today it was warmer and dry and it's weekend so I went out for a blast and I found out, In sport mode, manual, changing down and agressively using engine breaking she 'blips' the gas, which is nice.
well said !
I have both and it is awesome!!!
U-turn on dirt road .... 1st gear is a must ! Love ya brother
then hit that little grey button with your right thumb and keep it in first.
Great review man 🤘
thank you 🙏🏽
Great explanation thanks alot
thanks !
So you answered my question about modes I should of just kept watching first!!
bhahahahahaha
I never rode a DCT. I'm sure it would take awhile to get used to and I'd be constantly reaching for the clutch lol. That was a great explanation.
thanks Nick! i think you'd actually like it !
I thought that, but no. I was concered about slow speed clutch friction zone maneuvers being an issue, but it's not. Very controllable.
I own an africa twin dct 2021, I love the dct. Thinking on getting a wing
Interesting video thanks for sharing
thanks for watching!
I still need to take one out for a rip!! The closet thing I rode was the Harley-Davidson livewire!! I grabbed for the clutch a ton while riding it!!
lol
Great endepth video on the DCT! I think that GoldWing is smarter than the average bear. I would love riding that bike on long tours. It's a ,set it and forget it, ride. Next will be the gyro mode so you don't have to balance as you ride. Just set the cruise, kick back, drink soda's, and eat pizza as it cruises you down the road lol. Me, that Wing, is just to big and heavy for me to handle. I'd be afraid I'd drop it and have to call AAA to come help me pick it up. I'll stick to the smaller lighter cruisers, with their one mode, my right hand and wrist!:) My favorite part of this video was when you were in manual mode. I've always wanted to see how well it works. Again, great video ABUSA! Where ever your travels take you, always ride and stay safe ABUSA!
thanks Jd!
Very nice review. Im debating between a goldwing and a r1250gs. Coming from a honda 919 im leaning towards a goldwing but the 1250 opens doors to a bit of light adv as well. They are not cheap bikes so im taking a bit longer. Goldwing just looks stunning
totally understand ! i have a royal enfield himalayan adv for some fun off road! always an option ! Wing is special!
Have a DCT 2021 African twin. Love it on the highway taking long trips with the cruise control.... Done gravel roads and muddy roads and have have crashed it too many times, so I'm thinking its time to get off those types of roads (I'm 63 and getting to old to try and pick it up...) and get a Gold Wing again. Had a gold wing in 1985, so it's been a while. Love the cruise control and the DCT on the Africa twin, but at this point I'm thinking that I need to get off of the gravel / dirt roads where I am laying it down and get something that I can just cruise and do long distance road trips. I did a couple of long distance trips on the African Twin, but I don't think that it would be as comfortable as the Gold Wing... It's time to start looking for a road bike again...
love the Africa Twin! the new gold wings are amazing !
Great video . I have been wondering what it is like with tight turns with the dct
thank you ! manual is best way so you have full control but rain mode can also help in slow speed maneuvering
I would try dct , but switching gears, brakes etc is a lot of the fun for me
agree, but fun thing is you can paddle shift if ya like but i understand!
A friend of mine just traded his Road King in for a DCT Wing....He wants me to ride it. Can't wait, let you know, would be my first time on a Wing...
let me know what you think !
My buddy loves his 👍
How different is the shifts in different ride modes.. I would assume sport mode it runs out the RPMs more!
you nailed it !
Put it in rain mode and manual mode and it won't shift in slow-speed maneuvers or while using manual mode in curves on the road. So just put it in manual mode when you don't want it to shift. When I practiced and learned how to ride it it became a very easy bike to ride which makes it a safer bike to ride.
great info !
That's good to know. Thanks!
I'm a fan of the DCT's. I'm even more of a fan of the Hydraulic transmissio on the NSA700 DN-01.
Hi, thx for this nice review.
here's a trick for you all, if you are in auto mode and want to switch FAST to manual mode, just use the paddles, ex: if you want to slow turn, once you're in 1rst gear just pull the "- paddle" and you will be in manual mode ... without the need to change with the mode button, this work at any speed but you must be carefull if you downshift at higher speed :)
Thanks for the info! 😎😎😎
I have a Rebel 1100 DCT. I really like the transmission. Super smooth, the modes change the bikes character substantially, and you can go “manual” when you feel like it. I will add that, like almost any motorcycle, you do need to spend a little time with the bike to understand how the bike responds in different modes/situations. Just jumping on the bike thinking you’ll ride it like an expert because it’s a DCT, is wrong. Spend a little time learning and you’ll be rewarded.
Thanks for sharing!
I have a Rebel 1100 DCT... thinking about getting a Goldwing DCT for touring. I love DCT, but I do not like automatic mode, I only ride in manual mode on my Rebel... if I get the Wing, I'll probably do the same.
enjoy it if you get it !
It's going to make it difficult for you to go back to a manual only motorcycle. After 4 plus years of riding and vlogging aboard my 2018 DCT Tour all the while running 87 octane she'll spoil you for comfort and performance. Great video.
i agree!!! i watch your vids! i know you love it too! thanks for watching!
kewl vid mate... yep lm a clutch guy all the way.. cheers
i get it !
ANON!!!
As an experienced Rider of over 40 years, in my opinion, the only downside here is slow, speed maneuvers. There’s a major learning curve.
learning curve for sure but you can always use manual mode and paddle shifter to ensure it stays in the gear you want
I thought maybe sport mode in slow speeds would be better because you would think it would hold more RPMs compared to the other modes!
nope manual is best there
I ask you who have experience. Wouldn't it be nice to have the rear brake instead of the clutch lever? In my opinion it would improve control both while driving and when maneuvering at low speed.
Thank you
it's just a different way that's all
you can put it in manual mode at slow speed and control it easily as well
@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA Grazie
Your having too much fun😂❤
yup lol
Good Video just found the channel. Not many people get the DCT down at low speed to show the gear changes. I think the DCT would be great on the Goldwing. As the Manual Goldwing doesn't have enough room for my foot to shift the bike behind the the Cyclinder Heads.
thanks for coming by!
I pretty much ride in manual when practicing it’s rain mode and touring when riding.. I want to control the shifts…lol… but it is an amazing bike ride safe bro…
you too !
@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA yep I love it…. This bike checks all the boxes…
Good video. AB. Have a great week.
thanks 🙏🏽
I would trade the blue mule in a heart beat for one of those
amazing ride Flip !
I don't like the way my DCT jerks little bit when downshifting from 3rd to second, and from second to first. I'm usually in tour mode. Does anyone else have this issue?
i'll have to pay more attention and let you know!
@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA I appreciate it. My dealer told me it's something I would have to get used to, but I think my bike could downshift a little smoother from 3rd down to 1st gear.
@@markjulius2006 next ride i get i'll make note
Nice 🚲
What screen do you have fitted.. It looks taller than the standard.
it's the stock screen that came with bike
@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA It is TOO TALL! lol
@@eezyrider65 got ya i don't mind it
how would it do on the tail of the dragon?
handles like a sports bike! this
thing eats twistys for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner 😎
It’s a freight train in my book… Once she gets up she’s gooooooing hahah. Beautiful bike nonetheless brother. I’m glad I somewhat helped with the decision part😉😉😎 Now an AT and you’re complete🤣🤣🤣😜
bhahahahhaaha transalp ????? 🥸
@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA I have mixed emotions bout the Transalp to be honest, same as the V Strom 800 DE… I feel there’s something missing from both. Something doesn’t add up
which city is this. nice scenery
northern Georgia
You could put all I know about that bike in a thimble with room to spare! lol
Do you live in Atlanta? I thought you were in NOLA...
Thats what flip said
Thanks for the demo. It alleviates my apprehension about burning up the clutches on slow speed maneuvers.
You probably saw this one by now, but showing what happens in manual mode, I don't have a problem buying the DCT.
czcams.com/video/NCsrW4RSsI4/video.html
Is that a 6 cyl ?
yup
Why not manual mode doing slow m
can definitely do that as well
No, I don't want to go back to manual after dct...dct is the best!
89 Octane +++
I ride and vlog aboard my 2018 DCT and always used 87 octane. She's runs a treat and never misses a beat.
7 speeds? really? Never had one nor had the opportunity to ride a bike with the DCT so I can't speak much but can defiantly see why it could spoil you.
7 speeds! joy to ride !
Paddle into 1st gear!!!!!
Just lock in 1st gear
Feel like Im talking to myself
A super scooter 😂
an amazing machine for sure!
Paddle shift is awesome
MIKAILI7 AND MOOSE 3974 Have them for just over a year... I LIKE EM BIG TIME
they are awesome
Great explanation thanks alot
