I've got a whole bed of leeks planted out! Nearly 200! But doing them in pots does make it more convenient

Hi Ray. Nice video. Yes, I grow my leeks in pots. Have 12 or so growing just now and have ordered some young leeks for over winter which will go in raised bed and/or pots. All the best. Mags

Very interesting! We have grown onions in bags, but never leeks. We will have to give it a try in our yarden.

Hi Ray, enjoyed the vid as usual. Ever thought of multi-sowing the leeks? Apparently it can be quite successful - I've multi-sown all my leeks this year. I didn't give them a haircut like my onion sets. First sowing is slender but in the ground nevertheless and beginning to grow well. Second sowing seedlings will be out in next seven days and third will be ready to sow in about six to eight weeks. Leeks are a staple for us either in their own right or stews, soups etc.
Take care and stay safe and - keep 'em coming. I always look forward to them. - Paul

Why do you cut off root bottoms and stems does it not damage the roots?

The traditional way to transplant leeks is to dibble a six inch hole put the leeks in and water - do not fill the hole with soil, the rain will do that.

I've never seen anyone add that much fertilizer to soil. Is there anything bad that would happen if it's too much fertilizer?
