As a genestealers player "Well that's 300 points that does nothing" is a line im very used to saying
Nobody narrates 40k in 40 minutes like the one and only JT
amen
While I agree, Tycho can get pretty close imo
The BEST!!!
For us English folk - JT is our Gary Lineker & PlayOn is our Match of the Day 😂 Perfection!
@@heyritchard the MOTD intro theme wouldn't quite get me in the grim dark mood hahaha far too cheery!
As someone who's thinking of start playing/hobbying this game, it was super refreshing to see "not-state-of-art" painted armies.
Felt this way too haha
Thats whats so fun! You make your minis as good as you want them to look personally i want mine to look badass but anyone can do what they want like The Emperor when he was about to have his way with the galaxy’s cheeks once the Age of Strife concluded
Me too. That's honestly my one trepidation about the game. I feel like I could achieve a basic "battle ready" at the best. But some examples of "battle ready" are also intimidating.
@@adamtheninjasmith2985 CZcams Battle ready is really Parade ready mostly. Everything is shaded and highlighted and super neatly done. I can’t image anyone expects that standard to play.
Broo! I was so worried and then I watched someone attending a tournament...
I'm putting in way more effort lol. No longer am worried
Always immensely pleased to see GSC played competitively.
as an GSC player, they are fucking hard to play, they are abit to expensive and im tired of playing with kelemoph..
@@numseprut319 fair criticisms all
GSC player here, I disagree. I think we end up having really great matchups into a lot of the top tier army at the moment. Tournament results have been great as well. I’ve been making top 20s in Majors with them. Just needs more representation to shake the meta.
I’ve just got into 40K, I love the lore and aesthetic of GSC. Though I’ve been told not to play with them, which makes me want to more. Any thoughts or tips for a new player?
@@WZKD. Whoever told you not to play with them is a bad influence on your hobby. GSC are fun! Competition be damned. They’re a thinking army for sure, though, especially with all the planning you do in the list-building phase and the double deployment.
I recommend picking one or two units you like the look of and a Cult that enhances those units’ abilities and damage potential (or that the lore is just too badass for).
I personally will live and die by the Acolyte Hybrids and their Heavy Rock Drills. Anything to get them into combat quickly and safely, or protect them until they can charge, or give them extra attacks. That’s my favorite way to play GSC, but I also like maxxing out the Crossfire play with multiple shooting units of Metamorph flamers and giant bricks of Neophytes with lots of special guns, Achilles Ridgerunners to speed around and entrap desired units, and bikers to gum up the enemy’s charges and enable Crossfire.
The coolest thing happened to me in canada. I was playing DG in a games workshop store and I recognized Garry and got a fistbump from him and almost won the tournament.
Did you get to play him?
@@DJROCKSTAZ No sadly I had left before I could ask but I am coming back next summer and I am gonna try and get a game with him
I adore this game's battlefield. Always love the close quarters feeling of urban maps.
I'm more of a narrative, fluff, "beer and pretzels" type but I do always appreciate when two just super knowledgeable and practiced gamers go at it. Especially JT adding the commentary thats just does a remarkable job of making sure I dont get lost.
Top tier content as always folks.
Tonite on POT gear: Alex grows four arms and strokes a Ripper Swarm like a bond villain, Gary confuses Faith with Flames as he makes the Salamanders proud with all them Meltas and Steve has gone into a casino to curse all the dice with the Touch of Steve.
brilliant
@@agreensquid7303 thank you
Wooooo
Yeah babeeee that's what I've been waiting for
@@samuelgordon-kerr8133 I'm glad you enjoy these comments mate lol
Always nice seeing the knights of sigismund.
Also that droppod was the true hero blessed by the emperor himself.
I can imagine Big E just pointing at it and saying "Boom"
Reminds me of Lucky 13 from Love Death and Robots. Just barely hanging on until a bunch of enemies crowd around it before going BOOM
"Some people get like emotionally attached to their units...nah, everything is garbage, throw it away."
Me. petting my Trygon. "Don't listen to him."
Yesss! More high level competitive. Super informative and educational.
JT voiceover is what Play-on is about to me! Great game and Narrating.
Really enjoyed this one. Great showcase of each army. Nail biter until the end! 🤟🤓
36:13 -- Watching those terminators and the Emperor's Champion die instantly while accomplishing literally nothing brought back bad memories from when I used to play 40K in high school.
"How could my Emperor's Champion die so quick? I spent eighteen dollars on that..."
Brutal amazing game, as a GSC fan I was on the edge of my seat. Wonderful episode, this is my favorite content from you all, great matched play content, Happy we are getting this matched play content.
I've watched a ton of tour battle reports and i think this is the most evenly matched. Each turn there was so much carnage and so many points, it was impossible to know who was going to win!
I really want to see the Tau face off against the tyranids
What a great game by 2 phenomenal players! Great attitudes and great plays all around
I love the fun narrative games and boards you guys come up with - I'm narrative player above all else and no one does ti quite like you guys - but I've gotta say, this might be my favorite video you've ever produced. Something about the tension of these two amazing players going at it with you're awesome production value made this really exciting to watch.
11:45 "And they shall know some fear. Just a little bit of fear. Itty bitty bit of fear."
Space marines should not have a moral check it does not make sense
What an absolutely amazing game with amazing competitors and as always, an amazing presentation from Play On. Bravo!
That was a great batrep! Really enjoy seeing a more competitive one, especially with GSC :) There was so much to learn from this, I'd love to see more.
This was a great match! It’s especially of interest to me because I play both a Black Templar army and a Genestealer Cults new army I started earlier this year.
The Black Templar army in this video is very different than mine - mostly Firstborn and Relic units, whereas my army is mostly Primaris. I’d like to see how Primaris Black Templars fair against Genestealers with Nephilim rules.
This channel is finally back with a product that is as magnificent as season 1...JT's commentary and the music are spot on...fun to listen to!
A draw between 2 strong gamers... the cult got lucky with models having 1 wound left. but the BT's got lucky with the drop pod explosion.
I did not expect how this game went.
Spoilers you douchbag
cool spoilers bro...smh
@@nilsggr maybe don't read the comments before watching the video? 🤷🏻♂️ Just a thought.
And black templar got lucky with the "a trap sprung" charge being missed
Those Templars are painted beautifully
Incredible game and video! Thank you!
WOW! What a great game. Back and forth between two very different armies and play styles. And it's always nice to see Marines represented well on the channel.
Those mini thumbnails in the corner are so helpful in just absorbing the massive selection of unique minis.
I attempted to play this game as a kid, I keep watching these as of late. Debating on getting started again! Haha
As a Templar Player i look forward to this.
as tyranid player (i know it is not genestealers but still) i look forwards to this
Goddamn, watching to veteran tournament players go at it feels like I'm watching a completely different game. I don't mean that as shade to everyone else, but most games always feel like fun times, these guys go at it like life's on the line
Holy moly I’m just now finding out about this from my teacher. This is sick!
That was the Best Game yet!!! This game had something for everyone, even Nick, had to be happy with all the Vehicle Explosions especially the Drop Pod.
Great game. Well played both and good commentary
D&D has been my only tabletop game. I never realized how badass, massive, and tactical these games are!
Gorgeous models, thanks for sharing.
Always loved the Black T
emplars! Great bat rep as always guys!
I really enjoyed watching a competitively-minded game with such highly skilled players. More of this caliber of gameplay would be great!
Loved the game! Loved the narration - thats some quality Entertainment
I love it when JT narrates...this was such a cool game..great ending!
Thanks for another great vidéo battrep. Thanks.
Yea Alex!! Great game, very enjoyable to watch.
Huge fan of Gary since he beat Jim Vesel on the channel - love watching him play. Kudos to both players, hell of a match
The other members are awesome narrators for 40k in 40m,but..
Hell JT is back!
Awesome to see Black Templers.
Be interesting to see who pulls off the win.
THAT was a hell of a game! I was rooting for you, Alex!
Oh god, that was an amazing game. I absolutely love watching such mastery. Especially someone with such command of the genestealers~
Nice episode!
Awesome match thank you!
Nice! These guys are definitely more into the game play than painting.
The music on these videos is top tier
This was an absolute treat, what a game, 10/10.
new to the game. didnt even know there were ways to play that weren't full on deathmatches. this is sick
New Space Marine Tactics. Orbital Explosive Drop Pods!
Lol this was great!
this was mystifyingly beautiful gameplay. Kudos man. intellectual high fun ceiling shit here
1:45 that pun is gold
That was the best game I've ever seen. Dear lord these are some professionals!
Gary's secondary choice kept him in this game, that Bath on the Blood was the clutch! Great game! And JT the best narrator ever!
Templars and GSC is a match made in heaven: narrative and competetive blast!
JT Narrating the Final Table at LVO would be an Amazing Collaboration between Play On and FLG
Awesome match, I've never seen centurions be so threatening before
sometimes, and i stress sometimes, i think the game itself gets lost int he personalities we often see
But, this was great. seeing a by the numbers, down the line game from two experienced tournament players is always interesting
Two great guys! I don't know who to cheer for
amazing job guys.
That was an amazing game! Wow! A nail-biter!
What a fantastic match!!!
The image of an Emperor's Champion throwing a grenade is awesome and hilarious 😂
That Helbrecht conversion is darn good.
This match was awesome
These armies both look amazing well painted
Now I want to play them ugh
Love the army choice (huge Templar fan here) NOTE: bathe you blade got changed so that the black templars player gets to choose which enemy character that accepts the challenge
They tend to film these a good while in advance so may have been filmed before that change went live. Not sure though as idk when that was changed
Changed with nephilim. So if they play nephilim he could have known.
those black templars are lookin clean, that's awesome paint scheme
Great game thanks
Wow, GG.
I don't think I saw a Single GSC infantry model, I saw a bunch of their vehicles and a whole lot of Bright ugly green circles.
that was awesome!!
"Neophytes rolled a one on morale, that makes them insanely brave!"
Yeah, that sounds like the Black Templars.
YES!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait!!!!!!!
Tzeentch doesn't leave the dice alone at all 😂
This was a really great game.
Pre premier Commment : I thought this is going to be the match of SpaceMarinesSteve VS GenestealerNick, but this is a pro players match. Can't wait to see the centurions in action
Post premier :
- denying deny the witch???
- seeing Incursors take morale is really hit the the heart
- Seeing centurions in action is really pleasants especially when they masscre the genestealer
- Apothecary+Centurion tanky combination
- Genestealer showcase how tarpitting enemy is always works
- end turn 2 genestealer trying to catch up
- turn 3 genestealer start dropping like flies
- never doubt the genestealer when they try to catch up
- wtf explosive drop pods
- as closing the GSC truck sent the infiltrators to another world, what an unexpected ending
- Well done boys Good Game Well Played
Will you be doing any 30k any time soon? Really enjoyed your last one!
Pro match: appreciated.
We got a DICE SHAKER lady's and gentlemen
Love this. Like pro sports casting!
Awesome game!
Please do more Age of Sigmar. Love your bat reps!
Guys, I'm a huge fan. May I make a suggestion? How about making timecoded chapters during the episode based on turns and pregame/postgame stuff? Sometimes I miss some info and have to scroll throw the video, and while it's not extremely hard to navigate, it could be made easier. Based on previous videos, you can see that there are already most frequantly rewatched parts present, so why don't emrace that? I personally have a tendency of watching reports corresponding to my armies (SM and CSM) without much need for repetition, but with armies I'm not very familiar with I have to scroll and repeat to understand what's going on better.
This was a great match. How I've missed chosen secondaries!!! 👍
I'm not fond of the random secondary cards. They are too random, for a strategic game. Dice are all the random you need in my opinion
On that last turn the centurions split lascannon fire between those two vehicles, did they just not hit for the second vehicle or were they never rolled?
Question: Did the GSC player ever roll War Convoy?
incredible
What a nailbiter!!!
Was really hoping that Art of War could show us a GSC victory on this channel, but it'll have to wait.
A pure GSC victory, you mean…
Clearing my schedule for tomorrow! I think part of the Genestealer Cult list is missing. What is the cult creed for the first detachment?
Both detachments are the same creed, you can’t take two different creeds anymore.
This is awsome. Please please let me know if you guys are having a competitive tau player on (sorry nick your still my inspiration for enjoyment and energy during a game).
Did you use any templar vows in this game? Heard nothing about it (As of writing I'm on round 3) Can you not use vows then with the centurions not being core?
In a tournament setting, how would the final score be handled? In pools, I get the normal scoring, but if it were for top prize, what would happen?
I liked the BT army, especially the pod however it is the first time I've seen them played without a chaplain. Anyone knows what vow did he chose?
What a game!
