- My first attempt at a handheld windows PC.
Laptop: Dell Inspiron 7391. Bought on eBay with a broken case and no screen for cheap. Specs are:
i5 10210u
8gb ram
256gb nvme
It's by no means a Steam Deck competitor but it was a fun project to get me started on 3D modeling and printing.
This is really impressive! First time CZcams suggests good content!
that's really cool, good job
when part 2? i can't wait to see the gaming results, congratulations
props bro. I see you ran into the dreaded Dell power button as a keyboard button. I've passed up many a busted laptops because of this, though seeing you integrate the fingerprint/power button this way makes me reconsider. A build log would be great. Also, have you considered sourcing a different HSF for a more compact design, or using a heat gun and trying to reposition the heatpipe? Might save you a half inch on either side. I'm midway through my build plan, though I'm going Ryzen 4500U, Razer Kishi, and now I'm eyeball deep in trying to figure out how to salvage a OLED display from a tablet and finding the appropriate hdmi controller board. The biggest thing I've learned so far? USB-C? It's a real pain in the ass.
This is great!!
Very nice! You should post some gameplay using this device!
i have the same 7 inch screen and for some reason there are a bunch of grey squares on some images i show on it and the touch screen is extremely cheap and cracked a whole line from a usb cable hitting it lightly or something like that
Man I wish you make design with controller shape...but good job anyway
Could you show how it runs games?
Yes
Amazing
Tbh I would use a ryzen apu for a project like this
Dude, that looks nice! Please tell me what LCD do u use and what hdmi-hdmi short cable?
May I know what is the size or measurements of the mainboard?
Noice!
what single board computer did u use?
Just watched the newer vid. I'd recommend 3ds joysticks instead of psp but that's just a personal gripe.
Hey what controller did u use?
yo good job making this
small channel, great video good job, pls make a tutorial
Think you can make me one?
Part 2?
DIY wannabe NES nintendo deck steam switch
do you have a component list?
Earned a sub
I'm confused. The entire point of the Steam Deck is that it's not just a handheld with Windows slapped on. Its a handheld with a custom made OS created with gaming in mind. The controls aren't even Steam Deck like. Calling this a "Wannabe Steam Deck" is like calling every video game console a "Nintendo" or every FPS a "Doom clone".
Where do you propose he get that custom OS? SteamOS 3.0 hasn't released yet. The entire point of the Steam Deck is to have a portable system that is capable of playing your steam library, of which this qualifies. This is obviously a prototype. Perhaps with the proper encouragement we can see someone that is doing innovative work continue. Instead there are bullshit comments like yours.
@@ronking5103 Is a PS5 a "Nintendo" or Call Of Duty a "Doom clone"? Of course not, calling something a "clone" or "like" is just a way to discredit or ride on a trend with something that looks loosely like something else. Handheld PCs are already a market and putting Windows on a handheld does not make it a "Steam Deck wannabe". Also that is not what the Steam Deck was made for. If that was it would be running Windows. Steam Deck is meant to play games in an easy controller friendly UI.
@@kittenzrulz2314 If a PS5 can play Nintendo games then yes, it qualifies as a Nintendo Emulator. That seems pretty self-evident. Your second sentence defies logic as I'd assume is a pretty common head space lived in. This is a DIY project that plays steam games in a handheld format resembling that of the Steamdeck. To say it's a "Wannabe" Steamdeck is more than appropriate. Perhaps you can set some of that vitriol and crushing self-disappointment aside long enough if not to encourage another human being, at least not actively tear them down.
@@ronking5103 Your logic simply makes no sense. The fact that a PS5 can technically play Nintendo games does not make it an emulation machine. A PS5 is not a "Nintendo", Call Of Duity is not a "Doom clone" and this isn't a "Steam Deck wannabe" its a plastic shaped cube with traditional controls. Is it impressive, yes. Is it a "Steam Deck wannabe", no.
@@kittenzrulz2314 I said that if a PS5 can play Nintendo games than it qualifies as an emulator. That's the very definition of emulation. I never said a PS5 was a Nintendo. Nor did the creator of this device ever say it was a Steamdeck. He very clearly labeled it as a clone. What offense you take to that is beyond me, other than just basic shittiness. Are you a shitty little kitty? Angry and upset that your dreams to stream your own content haven't come to fruition, through no fault of anyone but yourself? That's okay, just don't take it out on other content creators.
