I'm here to see how many people are here because of Devs
Yes, I heard this song on Devs and loved it...now I want to hear more. A totally new sound!
Me!👍 I love it!
I've been desperately trying to find people to discuss it with. It's themes of determinism have been something of a mind frag as I try and put the pieces together.
Here I am ^^ The song is beautiful tho
select count(*)+1
Devs has made me fall in love with this song.
I could not have put it better
ditto!
Yeah that`s true!
It's honestly the best stand-alone banger of the season
same dude same here...love this song
This is the kind of song one peacefully listens to while the world crumbles in a fiery roar around them.
Even if it's just in our emotional personal lives eh
Perfect description.
Precisely.
Indeed.
@@FlipFlopMom Spacemen 3
Most brutal fight scene I've seen in a long time. No martial arts, no fancy moves, just to men struggling to stay alive.
It confused me. How did he do that? He was just breaking fingers or biting, no?
@@tajbaker296 He somehow managed to crack the Russian guys neck using a car tire.
@@toshcameron366 wow. That was brutal. Do you think that we should delete these in case someone hasn't watched it yet? I'd hate to be a spoiler.
Sky Valentino Agreed. I turned to my husband and said that it was the most brutal thing I had ever seen.
@@tajbaker296 Don't worry about spoilers. It's all been pre-determined.
What a beautiful voice, what a great sound. Also, DEVS
I first thought this was Happy Rhodes, the singer. Look her up, she is Fantastic. czcams.com/video/FDS9tTSpgnU/video.html
Mimi Parker. I’ve been a fan of Low since the 90s, and recognized her voice right away when watching Devs tonight.
@@BrianBlood That must be awesome! I never heard of Low ut I wish I did. I'm 26 and my Low is Son Lux
Such a cool creepy harmony. Sad, curious, triumphant, tragic, all at once. Great song.
Yes, like a slow, melancholic march.
Just finished episode 2 and had to look up this song... it’s so beautifully haunting
Thoughts on the show? I think it's absolutely perfect
Lol me after episode 2
@@1274Isaac how do you like the show so far? :)
lol same
and me
Devs bring me here.
Itemus PL devs and a brutal murder scene
@@rl8303 True fellow Dev :). and the other murder scene was great to. So far every episode one death. I can't wait for more murders :D after all, THEY ARE DETERMINISTIC.
I'm confused to how the American dude killed that Russian agent just by twisting his arm?
@@prathapkutty7407 he has his head trapped up against the tire, and is using the arm and his body as leverage to bend his neck. The snap that happens is his neck snapping, not his arm.
Tbh it's still a bit of a stretch, but it is what it is
Prathap Kutty he snapped his neck against the tire
I esp. love the inspired use of “Congregation” playing as the two aging spies struggle to kill each other in the parking garage. The juxtaposition of the slow tempo played over the desperate aged thus awkward struggle for life is as indelible as it is pathetically haunting. Just brilliant.
So here I was, bored out of my mind and tired beyond belief when I decided to watch Hulu before I go to sleep. I subsequently see “DEVS” and decide “why not”. Well, I didn’t sleep when I wanted to, and I got chills no less than 5 times from Episode 1-2. This show is perfect in every way and I did not expect it.
So.... how is life?
Eyes open wide deterministic
I am shocked by how good it is. The soundtrack is a big part of it, too.
Alex Garland. Did you see Ex Machina and Annihilation? The soundtrack to both adds to the chills...and Sonoya Mizuna.
I went into it with a "it's probably another drama of some sort with a facade of sci-fi" mindset and I could not believe it when it just kept crushing it all the way through the first episodes. I hope they keep holding onto the tech/math/philosophy side of it without dumbing it down.
I'm here to listen to the music. This course was predetermined, like tram lines
My favorite tram lines are still en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandia_Peak_Tramway . Although, technically, since there's only 2 stops, it's about as predetermined as you can get.
no choice!
In the middle of a zillion fights
also my reply to your comment was unavoidable
Predeterminate was my love of Low
No idea what DEVS is nor do I care...im here because mimi just passed away after a long battle with ovarian cancer. When everyone was fawning over mazy star, you, mimi were the underestimated voice of our generation. My condolences to her family. 🥺
DEVS is a pretty good tv show (created Alex Garland), the reason why I got into Low in the first place
I care as DEVS is a brilliant tv show that I highly recommend and not in the least of this brilliant song. Which I , without devs never would have heard. And not learned that obviously Mimi is the singer and sadly no longer with us...
no one was fawning over mazy star
lifes shit sometimes
Man, I bet you're fun at parties.
Oh Mimi. There will never be another voice so sweet and so true. RIP
Just came back to here, because of Devs. Super cool show! It was crazy to hear it not once, but twice in episode 2. I've known Low for over 20 years, live in the same city as them and have seen them in concert probably 100+ times. They are lovely people, in addition to being a superb band.
Sometimes
The congregation takes the other side
An inquisition of familiar lies
A grave distraction from a quiet rite
Sometimes
The congregation can't make up its mind
Incarceration creeps up from behind
The implication is its own device
In the middle of a salient fight
Sometimes
The congregation can't be satisfied
Can't be bothered with the ways and whys
Generations like their ways and times
Sometimes the congregation takes the other side
An inquisition of familiar lies
A grave distraction from our quiet right
Sometimes the congregation can’t make up its mind
Incarceration creeps up from behind
The implication is its own device
In the middle of a salient fight
Sometimes congregation can’t be satisfied
Can’t be bothered with the ways and whys
Generations like the waves and tides
thanks for the lyrics!
It's not "THE congregation" as in a collective noun, related to a gathering of people - The lyric is quite clearly "Sometimes, congregation takes the other side ..." meaning that the action of people coming together can have a particular effect ... a very different concept.
Congregation, in this sense, is a verb not a noun.
Robert Graeme I clearly hear a “the” for the first 2 verses, but I do like your version better, alas.
Rest in peace, Mimi. When I heard the news today, I thought of this song. You will never be forgotten.
Utterly, heart-wrenchingly beautiful song. And yes, I'm here because it was so expertly placed in DEVS
It feels like this song can invade your head space for days after you have finished listening to it. Brilliant song from them. Glad this song is getting recognition it deserves.
THE LYRICS! I mean...this song is brilliant and beautiful. Oh and, DEVS.
The lyrics are perfect for Devs.
I heard this on "Devs" and thought it was Carly Simon, and that is one of the biggest compliments I can give to a piece of music.
SAME!
Yep same! Loved how they used this song with the scene too.
same!
It was placed perfectly in episode 2.
Same!
Ron Swanson's sad blue eyes brought me here.
What a gift she was. RIP
I just keep listening to this song on repeat. I just can't get enough
This song is quite a mood setter
Couldn't get pass the opening of episode 2 of devs this song is beautiful
This song plays again at the end of episode 2 as well, and that imagery is hauntingly well-suited to this song.
Somewhere in the multiverse there's a quantum computer that knew I would post this comment. Mind blown 💣💥
And Also knew i would smile at your comment
No there isn't. Good serie Devs, but the physics within it is pure fake
@@nestormalo6006 the computer also knew you were going to say that.
Do not confuse a TV serie and real physics
@@nestormalo6006 i see u really enjoyed watching devs
Another Devs convert.
Just got the news of Mimi's passing....fucking love "congregation"...and yeah it was devs I heard it first....forever with me now.
I discovered your soothing voice with this song
RIP Mimi Parker...
Crazy. The mixing on this track, the panning... haunting and sublime. Love it. My kind of alternative.
Yes, DEVS brought me, but the track was wayyy more than the episode, I say.
Loving the production, Wendell - "haunting and sublime" is nicely put - thank you
Here because of grandad scuffle in parking garage.
I was here because I saw the license plate so I went to reddit to get some feedback and now I'm here. am I in a feedback loop?

i needed that laugh.
I came here for mothballs? Weird...
@@BryanRolstad probably
You ever hear a song and think “damn, that would be an amazing cherry on top for a twisted up ending to an episode on a bonkers show”
Her so beautiful voice...
If you here because of Devs, I have some great news: you've just discovered your new favorite band! Enjoy exploring their discography, I'm jealous.
hell yes, i'm so happy for the folks who came here from devs. low slays so hard, gradually.
DEVS
Yesss DEVS had such an amazing soundtrack!
Devs made a great call using this song.
This one tugs at the heart strings
A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics.
But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of depersonalization and the importance of paradoxes.
It's also a personal statement about the band itself. Hey, Mimi!
It's not about depersonalization or paradoxes.
It's about the power of propaganda.
This is the most exquisite combination of voice and instruments i have have the privilege of listening to . . . .
Listen . . . . It makes your heart smile
Devs for sure. Love the music in it. Loved Guinnevere in the last episode.
I used to travel to SF for work and have spent a fair amount of time in Northern California, and the music on this show brings me right back there.
Dev's rocks .... and so does this song from Low.... it makes you think deep thoughts... Gotta Love it...
Devs made me fall in love with this band. I discover amazing bands and songs from TV and films.
I love it!! It sounds like Massive attack for me.😍😍
There was a young man that said 'Damn'
I perceive with regret that I am..
But a creature that moves, in predestinate grooves,
I'm not even a bus, but a tram.
there was a young woman who believed
her predestined grooves were too real
she decided to end her life full of strife
no matter how her death made other folks feel.
Devs... Thank you... For the pure escapism, the stillness and this epic song.... Blends so perfectly. I'm already sad that there are only 6 episodes left. I want to immediately binge watch but then I would miss the longing for the next episode.... Conflicted....
Devs had a wonderfully eclectic mix from this to the soundtrack from Hair to CSN, and Y. What a trip!
I'm here because of Devs.
I heard this on Devs and I just loved it so I had to find the song. You got a new fan!
I have to thank the series Devs for featuring this song! Great show and a very fitting song for the show!
I’m here because of Maynard. RIP Mimi
Thanks DEVS!!! I'm hypnotized with this!
Be at peace, Mimi. 🌅
Make me fly deep in a space
found this by watching DEVs. love the show. love this song. you are right i am looking at this band some more. and im from duluth.
wonderful!!
Absolutely. Devs is frighteningly beautiful.
Rest in peace, beautiful brilliant woman.
This is going through my head. Hypnotic. After watching 'Devs'.
I think anyone who has been part of organized religion and has since moved away from it can feel this.
I went to parochial school until the 9th grade. If there is one thing I learned from it, it was they were they most judgemental, hurtful people of all time. I made a conscious decision in the 7th grade to become more spiritual than religious, read tons of books on the subject. Best decision I ever made. Organized religion is about money, contrary to their teachings, it is NOT about the the bible or anything good or holy. Just about money.
yeah, that's what hooked us into this song. dad joined an islamic cult; we joined to get closer to our dad. when our gf died they said she could not have been a human being, so no loss... we lost everyone our life depended on then.
DEVS did bring me here.
It is such a beautiful song.
It’s amazing what a tv show can do to get your name out to a larger audience.
Alex Garland, writer of Devs and many other incredible movies, books, etc, has earned many awards in his career....all Very deserved, and I think Devs will earn him more. If you haven't seen Garlands movies such as Ex Kachina, Annihilation, 28 days later, etc...then in between Devs airings, so yourself the favor of watching these. You'll quickly realize that Devs falls right in his wheelhouse of epic idea and creations. Devs is INCREDIBLE to say the least...which is the ultimate reason I'm watching this video...which was incredibly placed perfectly in the episode, and TRULY delivers the vibe Garland wanted. Long story short...we are all stuck inside with COVID-19 and I wanted to try to brighten your days with some movies to watch! I've ALWAYS wished for Fridays my entire life...but now I wish it was Thursday everyday so I can watch more Devs! Stay safe everyone!
Well said!!! Best to you and you stay safe, too.
I knew about Ex Machina and Annihilation, which I both enjoyed, but I had no idea that he wrote 28 Days Later! Devs is fabulous. Looking forward to seeing it unfold. Wishing you a happy and healthy quarantine as well!
He also wrote "The Beach", novel where the movie with same title is based on. Alex Garland is a genius.
@@quills947 he also wrote Sunshine, that Judge Dredd reboot, and couple videogames
I think I'm a garland fan but you compare devs to ex machina? No way IMO.
Love this. Had to find it after hearing it on ‘DEVS’ the weird and wonderful new drama
I think this song was used in Devs because you can't place it in time. It feels old and new at the same time
thank you for the introduction Devs
...they are simply an amazing band...and their song *Lullaby* is undeniably a Masterpiece of the Indie Rock Music 🎶...
I grew up in Minneapolis in the 90s and saw Low play live many times at First St. Entry etc. Stoked for them they have a great song in a popular new show (Devs). 25 years of music, wow. Always haunting, but effective!
Devs brought me here
Best song in Devs.
Mimi Parker has the most amazing voice! It turns to magic when Alan Sparhawk joins in.
So true. I’ve always loved her voice, all the way back to their first album in the mid 90s. I’m amazed that they are still making great music together.
I'm here because of Maynard and his kind words of inspiration and influence.
I haven't been a Low fan for 15 years or so, The Curtain Hits the Cast is one of my to 5 albums. This is beautiful, it's nice to hear them again.
You're missing out big time, their last album Double Negative was one of the best albums of the last decade
This tune makes me want to peel my life away to get a better view.
No idea what devs is ... I just woke up to this song which I never heard before and i wont forget how blissful it felt ever.
Devs brings me here to enjoy this beautifully composed tune!
This song is a real gem
Rest in Peace, Mimi, I'm so sorry for your loss, Alan.
Rest in peace, Mimi 🌹
Atmospheric, ethereal and utterly mesmerising.
Did yall like the show?? I loved it. 😂😂🙌 no one I know has seen it
This show is amazing
My hubby and I are hooked!!!
The show had me at “Nick Offerman”. His project choice did not disappoint. Just brilliant all the way around.
brilliant programme brilliant music
Like a lot of people here, Devs brought me here. Such a great song, such a strong scene it's set to. Nick Offerman in this part is amazing.
It's incredible how important the soundtrack is, I'd love to know who is the person that picks the songs for DEVS, we could ask him to share his Spotify playlist. I don't think Garland himself does it, might be?
I assume the song choices were made by the composer Ben Salisbury, who also composed Garland's previous movies Annihilation and Ex Machina
According to IMDb, Devs' Music Supervisor is Becca Gatrell. Music Supervisors usually source the licensed music in a TV show's soundtrack, but the buck always stops at an episode's Director. Anyone in the Music department could have found this gem of a song. 🤷♀️
@@Decroux3000 gracias
Don’t know why , this song keep me focus , thank you Dev for introduce the song to me
Yep, love this song, now addicted to DEVS
didn't end up liking Devs, but def liked this song enough for me to download every Low album.
Heard on Devs, was exremely impressed. It's an earworm for sure.
DEVS : Cause

I'm riding tram rails when I hear this song...
Yep. Devs. I love how TV shows can turn me onto new artists.
Damn, I'm here from Devs and I didn't recognize the band. I fucking love Low. "I could live in hope" is one of my favs albums. I think I should have checked for your most recent works too, thankful to Devs for having remaindered
me about that.
I'm here because it was predetermined that I would be.
predeterminism is anathema to responsiblity; it allows any action to be excused without conscience, sorta like divine will.
devs brings me, obsessed until the end of this song
The keys from 3:00 remind me of NIN.
vibes for sure
Saw Low some years back and I was far away from the stage and distracted by my own bullshit. Glad I'm giving them a listen, I think I had created an opinion about them based on an experience I really wasn't immersed in. Upon further investigation, their understanding of sound, words, and feeling is light as a feather and strong as a board. Glad I'm listening. Thanks for reading this.
