I always remember the Wood Memorial (when it was a G1) as being the Kentucky Derby prep race in which Secretariat came in 3rd back in 1973 before he crushed the Triple Crown. Meaning that anything can happen in the Wood Memorial (now a G2). Congrats Lord Miles!

Man that head on replay really shows all 3 of those guys slugging. I mean they needed Baseball bats like that old school road rash game.
Awesome call by the stewards , the # 1 and 13 were the ones causing all the problems. If anyone noticed Lord Miles Tampa Bay Derby race and realized Tapit Thrice had just one the Bluegrass. Then obviously Lord Miles had a chance.

That was rough between Jose, Manny , & Paco. Paco's actually innocent this time. He rode a good race. Hit show got the worst of it. He will win a couple small minor stakes throughout the season

What a race, epic finish!! As for the inquiry, dq the top 3...nah. Really they were like side drafting each other so it is hard to tell, and you can't blame just one, they were all over the front stretch. Hit Show got the worst of it. It was interesting the footage on the back stretch looked like some bumping there as well, but no call was the best call. And by keeping with that decision, there is no unfair advantage to the 3 horses....winner by a nose in a slow-paced race.
What a race. I had to watch this one a couple of times to figure out the story! Wow!
Great finish unfortunate horse in centre got sandwiched .jockeys inside and out had their crops in their incorrect hands ? Think the stewards made right decision very exciting finish
Great Throoughbred 🐎 Racing at Aqueduct Racetrack. ( In the past Tom Durkin would call this Throughbred Horse 🐎 Racing.)
In the reviews of this race and previews leading up to the Kentucky Derby, I am noting disrespect for jockey Paco Lopez, trainer Saffie Joseph Jr and Lord Miles...on the upside, it is nice not to have a bullseye on them as one of the pre-race favourites...
The indisputable facts as seen in this race- Lord Miles prevailed in a 3-way stretch duel ON THE OUTSIDE...
The time has been noted as slower than other entrants- but they note that the Aqueduct track is known to be slow-which suggests that a SOUND Lord Miles may do better at Churchill Downs...
Closers are not unknown winners or rather, closers have been winners of the Kentucky Derby...
As I have stated elsewhere, many enter the Vatican as Pope and leave as Cardinals...

Good race by Hit Show but I just can't take anybody seriously out of this race. At least not for the derby anyways.

Paco can ride with the best..rough stretch run though, but its a graded race..let them duke it out..Dreamlike, the maiden another great ride by Jose Ortiz but i think he regresses big time off that effort..Lord Miles is by Curlin so he gets street cred for the distance...this Derby has about a dozen horses that are very close to one another but i always like to look at the setup going in to the Derby and am never looking at who ran the latest great race, so i'll be stabbing with some horses under the radar but don't know the field yet..but will be a good betting race because i'm tossing Forte...
Pedigree says Lord Miles has the power to win the Derby

There is no consistency with stewards at any track. Paco wasn't at fault this time. There shouldn't have been a change. Neither Lord Miles or Hit Show are serious contenders for the Kentucky Derby.

It was all 1 and 13. In fact if the #1 had won, he would've probably come down, but because he finished behind the other two, no change..

I thought Paco did a helluva job actually, to stay with in the "boundries" of race riding in a heated stretch battle. He's had his own issues in the past.
The horse is getting pushed out in the stretch, stands his ground and even pushes back a bit in the end. He
even saves a couple of his (limited) strikes with the whip till right before the wire. What else is he supposed to do? Concede the race, and then hope for a claim of foul to get second?
That was a tough fought win. And I didn't bet the race.
Would of been hard for me to take Lord Miles off his last two, and Saphie hasn't done as well in NY. But the horse did have speed..

I did not have a great feel on the race and I would have never picked Lord Miles so I had no money in the race at all. I'm glad they didn't change anything after the review. Exactly right... The pace was pedestrian and there's not a horse coming out of this race that you could pay me to play in the derby, the inquiry should have been called on the whole field for how slow they came home the final quarter.

Anyway AQ just seems like a more tiring slower track than others. 49 sec for the half here may be equivalent to 47 at Keene land

I beg to differ with a genuine objection...as much as you wish the entire field to be named, when a race unfolds and a longshot guns down short odds and favourites, you focus on the moves and nuances vs ticking off a shopping list...Mr Griffin described the key elements of this race and kudos to matching his call with what is seen ...
In the media, one may expound and expand at length for newspapers/texts...for radio, you are the eyes (and ears)of those not seeing the action...In TV, you voice what the video displays...

should have been a dq. The winner drifted into the gray , knocking him off stride and sandwiching him between the 2 horses without ample clear running space. The gray was the real winner.
Hit show suppose to win... after reviewing... Saffie finally gets thorough with one of his donkeys in the preps.. 😂

This is what I hate about New York racing, stewards that won't do their jobs, even in the biggest races, Hit Show almost went down, the inside jock sticking left handed, the outside jock sticking right handed, and Hit Show in the middle of a shit sandwich, with the usual New York stewards battle cry, "No Blood - No Foul"
Um, not sure where you are seeing where Hit Show almost went down, bc he never bobbled once (unless you are referring to what happened in the first turn, which didn't even involve Hit Show, it involved Slip Mahoney and General Banker)
Just Don't See It With Hit Show. Two Back To Back 9f Races He Came Out 1:51 Or Worse. Just Not Fast Enough. Once Again The Wood Memorial Will Not Produce A Kentucky Derby Winner.
Horse racing is rigged. I stopped going to the track long time ago. No regrets.
