    A healthy diet makes for a stronger adventurer, pretty soon the butchers are going to placing shopping orders with the adventurers. The upper levels of the dungeon will be made into ranches for raising produce. Now just start a rumor that some monster on the lower level is a source of aphrodisiacs and watch the go one the endangered list.

    The weirdest thing I ever ate was a fried starfish while in China. It was a street of novelty food vendors. Tasted HORRIBLE! The fried tarantulas were pretty great though. So glad y’all are enjoying this!! Can’t wait for more.

    The weirdest thing i've eaten
    (But they wouldn't tell me what was in it Till after) was when my Grandma made us calf brain stew.
    You see Jigsaw's trap room we see a full service dungeon kitchen....
    You guys are going to want to watch campfire cooking....

      I keep hearing about that anime and it's definitely being put on the list! Calf brain stew sounds pretty wild! My grandmother used to eat squirrel brains when my dad was growing up. Said it was similar to scrambled eggs.

    i guess the weirdest thing ive ever eaten is bison burger. i used to live down the street from someone that owned a bison farm, and they gave us some free bison meat one time. we used it for hamburgers. it tastes kinda like beef but more gamey and dense

    • @TheHeckOfficial
      @TheHeckOfficial  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Nice! That sounds pretty rad. I've had bison jerky before and it was pretty good. That gamey flavor isn't for me though, but I do be down for some deer steaks every now and then.

    The weirdest thing I've ever eaten and _enjoyed_ was "Louisiana style" tempura fried sushi. Catfish and avocado on the inside, and minced crawdad/crayfish on top. (It was basically the same as a fried yellowtail tuna roll with lobster salad as a topping [which was the *_fanciest_* sushi I've ever eaten], but with the stereotypical Mississippi River/bayou ingredients instead).
    I can't remember if the crayfish was cooked as a scampi or etouffee before being drizzled over the catfish sushi, but it was surprisingly delicious for such a strange experimental dinner.

    I've never left the U.S., so I can't say I've ever eaten anything exceptionally weird, but when I was younger, my family and I attended a nature walk where we learned about edible/medicinal plants and flowers.
    Somewhere along the trail, we found some red clovers, which you can just straight-up pick out of the ground and eat. They were sweet but mild and obviously had some herb-like undertones.
    Also, one time, I tried mixing coffee and orange soda 'cuz I didn't have any milk or sugar. (In case you're curious, it tasted like it should've killed me.)

    • @TheHeckOfficial
      @TheHeckOfficial  Před 29 dny +1

      Coffee and Orange Soda is such a wild one! Reminds me of the time my cousin burned some ramen on the stove but decided to eat it anyway. He randomly said it needed something extra. He was drinking a sprite at the time and he dumped some in the bowl of ramen. Turned out exactly how you'd expected it would 😂 Fresh cloves sounds interesting as heck, I'd definitely try those!

      @TheHeckOfficial  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Right! Like that alone keeps me interested in each episode. I'm wondering if they'll ever be cooking up some Red Dragon steaks! Cow head and tongue in tacos with spicy sauce sounds so wild, but I bet it's good. I feel like I've seen some episodes of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives that had some cow tongue tacos or something, totally rings a bell.

    No comments on the weirdest thing i've ever eaten, cause I don't eat weird stuff much, but I *do* have historical context on the use of olive oil in dungeons!
    In ancient egypt, when working on structures such as temples, pyramids, tombs, etc. etc., they would light olive oil lamps. This is for a whole bunch of reasons- olive trees grew by the nile, so they weren't short of resources- olives were regarded as important culturally and spiritually, so it only made sense to burn them when constructing important passages in pyramids and such... but most importantly, *olive oil burns clean.* This means they didn't have to worry about soot accumulating on the ceilings of their construction areas, which means their tombs and temples stayed clean. So there is a historical precedent to olive oil being used as fuel in underground structures!

    • @TheHeckOfficial
      @TheHeckOfficial  Před 29 dny +1

      Oh wow that is freaking so cool. I love neat historical facts! I do be loving me some olive oil too. In salads or when frying something up!

    Probably the weirdest thing I ever ate was whole baby cuttlefish (not live though). I was out with some friends and we decided to try this weird Chinese place we'd seen, you had to walk through a grocery shop catered for Chinese immigrants and through a door at the back into an big abandoned back area, up a flight of stairs and then through another door to get to it. One ordered cuttlefish expecting it to be like callimari but they served whole baby cuttlefish. To be fair it was pretty good, and the place was a lot less sketchy than i was expecting considering the location.

    Not bad tasting, mostly just salty. But dinuguan is what I ate growing up. It's basically pork blood soup. It's like a black color. I remember pulling out a cookie tin from the fridge as a kid that had dinuguan inside. Mildly unsettling. However, though I've never tried it, I also used to find mata ng baka in cool whip containers in the fridge too. Thats cow eye soup. Now that freaked me out.

    I've eaten a few weird things. Most recent was poi when I went to Hawaii a short while back. While it is bland as heck, it's meant to be more like rice or pasta. Eat a bit of that with a super salty meat and it's great!

    Ive eaten alot of uncommon things; crocodile, snails, pigs brain, mopani worms, fish eggs at least 20 different animal jerkys (I recommend deer type animals the most, Kudu is the best I've ever had, lion was the worst). Catfish, Ostrich, and lots more I cant think of but by far the weirdest thing I've ever eaten has to be oysters. 😅

    Weirdest thing I ever ate was Tellersülze. It's a German dish which is basically a plate with a full meal (sliced pork, veggies, pickles, often with a hard boiled egg) on it covered in savory gelatin and eaten cold. I think it's gross, personally.

    • @TheHeckOfficial
      @TheHeckOfficial  Před 6 měsíci +1

      The whole gelatin and eating it cold thing is what gets me. I mean without that it would be just a regular dinner plate so I get it, but still. That is definitely a wild one!

    I have eaten a LOT of weird stuff, as far as weirdest overall I'd say it would probably be the sea urchin I had, since technically any sea urchin you eat is the genitals of the urchin. It was delicious but a really strong taste and definitely not for everyone. Mako shark was pretty interesting and sea skate was velvety and soft but not super weird, unless you count things like scrapple and tripe which is also delicious, I am a fan of heart and liver. Weirdest food prep was an orb of mushroom soup ( I dont remember everything that was in the dish or what soup it specifically was but it was deconstructed in some way and reconstructed into an orb using alginate. It was wild and it was so fucking good, like the pure essence of mushroom. I have tried so much food it's hard to pick the weirdest, I can say I can make a killer beef heart stew though lmao
