Holy shit, this sounds like a classic metal album. This whole thing is just a love letter to bands like Bloodbath and Entombed, and I couldn't ask for more.

@@TheJoshMaggot That's kind of a no brainer. I chose Bloodbath as my second option however as I've never been much of a fan of either Grave or Dismember, though I do respect them as pioneers of death metal. Would you have preferred I use Autopsy as a different example?
Bloodbath and Carnation are both influenced by all the classic 90's bands, Dismember and Entombed in particular. I heard in some interview that at first the main Bloodbath inspiration was Morbid Angel, that's the reason why the first EP didn't feature the classic HM-2 chainsaw guitar sound. It started as a tribute to those bands and evolved in something more and more serious. If you dig the classic SDM sound you should check out some newer bands like Helslave or LIK. They're amazing, nasty chainsaw riffing!

Exactly what I have been looking for. There is so many OSDM worship bands out there with these burpy ass vocals but otherwise great music. This has both, sounds like Mikale Akerfeldt fronting a mix of early Entombed and Bolt Thrower melody. Awesome record, from start to finish!

I feel like there was something lost in translation, "hey whats our band name gonna be, incarnation? carnage? carnivore? whats another word that sounds like that..? CARNATION!" and then when someone told them later it's a flower teenagers wear to prom, they were too committed to turn back.
ruin3r Carnations are used mainly at wakes and funerals in France from what I know, that's probably part of it. Either way I feel like the album's good enough we can let it slip right?
carnation is dianthus in latin wich is a version of the word dios. Dios means god and anthos means flower. Its like a godsflower. Thats why carnation is godly good
