EDIT. At 8:48, I mention that you can't add extra effects to a preset in Native that wouldn't be possible on the Helix hardware, however I've discovered there's an option to turn off DSP limitations in the Native settings so you can use the full processing power of your computer! Just keep in mind that any crazy presets you design with this setting won't be cross compatible with the Helix hardware. Cheers to Rob for pointing this out!
Thanks for watching 🤘
really cool production and great sounds!
Top notch video as always bro ♥️🙏🏻
Cheers man! ❤️
Great job Sean brilliantly explaind 👌
Cheers Jason 🤘
Awesome Sauce with Chilli Flakes... love this
Brilliant!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the super informative video.
I purchased the HX Stomp about a month ago, as an alternative, or add on, to my Kemper. I decided to buy Native last night, which is fairly adventurous for me at 58. So I’m still a bit of a noob on the computer/processing/ routing of things. I’m using a Scarlett 2nd Gen 6i6 with Reaper on a new i5 laptop.
I couldn’t help noticing that at you drag and drop Native into the new track. Is this the same as adding Native as an effect on a track? I’ve been adding as an FX and arming the track to preview the presets.
I have been cycling through the presets just trying them out, but after about the 30th preset, it’s as if it times out and all I hear is my dry signal. I have to shut Reaper down and start up again, continuing the process from the last preset, until it times out/stops on me again. Now I’m concerned that this could happen while recording.
Any ideas on what could be causing this? Advice would be appreciated. Or my other option is to contact Line 6 support.
Love that 70’s/80’s chorus btw.
class video once more!
Cheers Jonathan!🤘
@@seanmurrayguitar keep rockin!
Wow! Amazing, sorry for my english... How can i get the preset of "Solo Guitar" in the minute 13:23. Its sounds great!!
Love your Guitar times . Love your production sound even more. What drums ( Samples)were you using if I may ask
Cheers! For this, I was using Addictive Drums 2
Sorry this comment isn't related to the video but I just wanted to say that I've been downloading all the free refills Reason Studios are dropping and your combinators are absolutely fantastic! Very playable and great use of the macro knobs and buttons :)
If you ever release independent refills then I'm definitely buying those
Cheers mate! Glad you're digging the presets 🤘🤘
Enjoyed the production insights on this. Your stomp presets are fantastic!
Do you have a video where you go over your FX setup for S1 daw? Or did I miss it in this video?
Cheers Jon! I've briefly mentioned my template in a few videos, but I might make a dedicated video at some stage if people are interested?
@@seanmurrayguitar I’ll definitely check out some others great stuff!
.
This gives me "Metro Station - Shake it" vibes, but maybe just because that one is in C#min as well. Good job by the way!
Now that I hear it, you're right, they're similar 😂 totally unintentional! Thanks for watching!
have helix installed on Cubase 11. I can record a track with guitar and change the sound with helix after the fact, but cannot get my guitar sound to change when I choose a pre-set on helix. What am I doing wrong!??? Any info welcome 😊
excuse me i wanna ask, how much memory usage of this plugin after installed? thankyou
Is it possible to load Hx stomp presets in Helix Native?
What is your DI running into? Just an audio interface? I'm surprised how loud and full the stuff sounds with no noise. I always have an issue recording into my DAW directly because it sounds choked or has a lot of noise, even on clean tones. I use a passive DI box still and continue to have the issue.
I'm using the built in Hi-Z DI input on my Focusrite Clarett 4 Pre interface!
Am i understanding it correctly that Helix Native cannot be used as a standalone modeling software like say Amplitube ?
Top, amigão! 😎💪🏼
Great Job! Love your Suhr guitar I have one in black love the sounds your getting I've been a loyal line 6 customer for years. If you ever want to sell some of your helix presets I'm a customer!!
Thank you man! I am currently working on a pack of full Helix presets at the moment. I want it to be useful and inspirational so I hope that it'll be of value for people once I put it out there!
Thanks for watching!
Which type of IR did you used for the "Fuzz Octave Rhythm Guitars" preset? How is it set up? Thanks :)
Not sure which one exactly, but it was from this pack! Love these IR's 🤘 www.yorkaudio.co/product-page/mrsh-412-m25
@@seanmurrayguitar thank you! 💪
How are you dealing with latency while tracking with native in real time? Sounds great BTW
Thank you! I've set my buffer size as low as possible and made sure I'm not using any plugins that would add latency in the session while recording. Most of the plugs I use are zero or super-low latency which is super nice!
Hi. How to set up helix native for guitar recording. Im using helix floor as audio interface and studio one 4 as my DAW.
You just set a patch on your helix blank. No amps or cabs or anything, and then you put the Helix native on your track in Studio One.
Do you sell the last lead patch in this song ?
It starts at 15:40
I get a big delay when i monitor the helix track, how are you getting around this mate?
Hey Paul. The delay you're hearing is latency (the time it takes for your guitar signal to be processed in the computer and output). To counter this, you'll need to turn the buffer size of your audio interface to a lower value. The lower the better, but this will depend on the performance spec of your computer. Most modern computers can handle low buffer sizes easily, but older computers may run into some trouble.
Hope this helps!
@@seanmurrayguitar Hi Dran. I thi k mine should be ok. I think I'm hearing the input signal and the daw signal together but one is late. I have the apollo usb and read that I'm to mute the input fader. Not tried it yet
9:10 / or you can just route it to path 2A right?
Sure can! The other path can be used too, but I wanted the pitch block before the amp and effects so using another instance was the easiest option here to avoid moving all the blocks around 🤘
There's a setting in Native that allows you to completely ignore the fictional Helix Hardware limit and allow Native to use your CPU power as actual Helix Native "DSP". There's zero reason to run a 2nd instance of Native within your DAW for individual tracks unless you're trying to run more than 32 blocks since the software won't allow that...
@@RobCowie Cheers Rob, I had no idea. Always figured the Hardware Compatibility section was so that you could design either full Helix, or HX Stomp presets with Native. Completely missed the "Off" option!
@@seanmurrayguitar Got it! Learning a lot from you
Where can we listen to the full tune sean?
Tune was written for the demonstration only. I'll see if I can upload a version online at some point!
I have the helix native, but when i use any fuzz effect like the octave fuzz or the arbitrator fuzz, it muffles the sound of my guitar and also produces a very loud noise, does anyone know or have any solution to this ?
Hey! When using fuzz or heavy distortion blocks with high amounts of gain and volume, if there is any noise present in the signal, it can be greatly amplified by these effects. Using a noise gate can help to clean up some of this noise when you're not playing - definitely check out the new Horizon gate that was introduced in Helix 3.0 for this!
As for muffling the guitar - I find if you run a fuzz with the right settings into an already distorted amp, it can tame the high end nicely, but if the amp is already super overdriven and the fuzz is set too high, the signal can become too oversaturated and choke the high end. I don't know your exact setup, but I imagine this might be the issue you're running into!
Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@@seanmurrayguitar i run a slightly distorted amp in my preset, definitely going to try the horizon gate, thanks for the reply!!
Are you Irish? Nice Video BTW
Sure am! 🇮🇪 Cheers for watching!
I am also using that plugin
But mine is crack version
So not so cool😓😓😓😓
Want....need?
Both!
