- Sleep Walk was a #1 pop hit for Santo & Johnny, 1959. Thanks for watching! ALL of my steel guitar videos are listed on my homepage: / dougbeaumier

I’m playing C6 tuning on this song. E C A G E C (high to low) - Hudba
Oh my gosh I’m melting, this has to be THE most pristine playing of Sleepwalk that I’ve ever heard. I’ve loved this song since I was a kid.
Thanks for listening! I’m glad you like it. 🤗

A young boy of seventeen, listening for hours, with a very special girl, tonight fifty seven years later she sets across from me, still very special, she is my heart.
Very well said, Hugh. Thanks for watching the video! 😊👍

Wow. That’s beautiful man.
I’ve never cried like that from a comment before. So beautiful
I was sixteen years when this came out. Still really cool after sixty years.

Cool Gary Conway. Thanks for commenting.
No exaggeration this is in fact the best version of this song in CZcams.

yes it is i play it over and over for hours. I love steel guitars.
Be fair, go back and listen to Santos one more time
it’s like the good ending to a video game, all your friends have passed, the world is an inhabitable and hostile post-apocalyptic scene, but you feel happiness as you succumb to radioactive fallout.
I'm now 78 and this song is and will always be my favorite. I still have tears in my eyes. Thank you sir!!!
So glad you like it! 😊

If I close my eyes, I can see my Dad playing this song on the pedal steel. It moves me to tears when I hear you play.

Born in 1954 I first heard this as a youngster. To this day the best music ever. Never fails to bring me to tears of joy.
One of my childhood favorites too! 😊
Born the same year and loved the same song 🎵
Also a '54 baby. Didn't come to appreciate this music till later in life. High-school was Led Zeppelin for me.😂
1954 here too. This song brings back melancholy memories even though I was still a young child when it came out. Also, it makes me a little sad after watching La Bamba and realizing this selection was played at his funeral.
There’s something pleasantly haunting about this song, yet very melancholic at the same time. This kind of melody only comes around once in a lifetime and you recreated the perfect rendition….Awesome Job!
Thanks for listening!
Worked really well in The Irishman
Awesome thanks ❤

Finally I found someone that plays the song as is. Everyone plays this song with his 'genius' style just because can not touch the original.
Thanks! Yes, the original is plain and simple, but very well played. A lot of steel guitarists today add in a bunch of fills and licks that were not in the original recording.
this has always been on my mind.. like THE EXACT SAME IDEA!!
Yes indeed
Simple will always be better 👍
I only love the originals. I don't like the personal touch of diverse players.
Santos and Johnny……Sleepwalk….what a classic sound, it’s a shame no one creates that kind of music any more. This was done superbly!!
Many thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. 😊🙏👍
Now its just garbage music singing about booty, drugs, and money. I wish I was born earlier.
It's called sleepwalk because the song came to one of them in a dream. Woke up shortly after, wrote down the notes and composed the song the following day.

This song has very worn out feel to it and it almost feels like I'm coming home from a long day of public transportation when really I just woke up from bed
Interesting. Thanks for listening! 😎
@@dougsteel now that I listen to this as I'm about to fall asleep I realize that this is a good evening song
Nice imagery. I picture it as a last slow dance song to a dying high school prom. Everyone worn out and ready to call it a night
It's funny you say that because I'm in that exact situation right now. I literally just got back from a long day comprised of work, public transport and goddamn Canadian winter weather. I'm exhausted and I was thinking about how calming this song was. The chord progression and melody are fairly typical but it's so effective! Love it!
probably due to the depressing scale this song uses

hi Doug, Dave berry here, we all love you, lol. just checking your music out, this is brilliant, thank you, very much, it takes me back to the day,
Wow, thank you! I'm glad you enjoy the music. 😊
Another one of my favorites made better by you. What an amazing, God given talent!
Wow, thank you!
When I was a kid, in the grand old cinemas, before movies were screened, this piece of music was always played against the red velvet screen cover and the yellow lights in the cinema, with the side pillars of the screen, and the grand apollo sun god chariot right on the middle of the screen top... Hmmm.... Seats were old and squeaky, but we can no longer experience this again. Thanks for the memories. Btw, just love your playing style, clean and smooth.
Many thanks, I’m glad the song brings back fond memories for you. 😊
Awesome insight. Thank you.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it.
Thank you sir for playing this song so perfectly that it's even better than the original❤
I'm glad you like it! 😁
You must have spent hours and hours listening to Santo and Johnny's original as I could not detect one note omitted. I learned this song in 1965 on an acoustic guitar but I know I could never hit all the notes like you did. Nothing like a steel guitar. Congratulations on your talent. Keep on sharing your music as you are really good. I have a good ear for music but I cannot read a note of music. I have done solo gigs when I was in my 40's. It was one of the greatest times of my life and I was broke.
Thanks for listening, John! Yes, I grew up hearing Sleep Walk on the radio, and it was the first song I learned to play on steel guitar, 50 years ago! I played pedal steel guitar with country and rock bands through the 70s, 80s, 90s. Nowadays I play about four gigs a month... that is, before the virus hit!
It was on the level of the Santo & Johny maybe even better. Some years back I read in a trade magazine an inquiry if anyone knew of their whereabouts
I’m 20 and even I feel nostalgic for some reason. This was beautiful
Wow! Glad you like it. 😎👍
I’m 16 and I feel Nostalgic with it, I have reason to believe part of it is a past life then, the other part is how it makes me of my special gal, and I’m sure the last part is the 1951 Plymouth Cranbrook I own plays a part

Ritchie died a quarter of a century before I was born, and his music is still a huge influence on me, that’s an incredible mark. Beautiful rendition!
Thanks 😊 By the way, this is not a Ritchie Valens’s song. He died six months before Sleep Walk was released. The song is by Santo and Johnny. It plays at the end of the Ritchie Valens movie so a lot of people think it’s a Ritchie Valens song, but it’s not. Just a popular tune from the same year, 1959.
