Highly recommend his new solo stuff if you’ve got a taste for the BSDH or Screamworks era HIM. 10 year old comments would be shocked to know that he continued making music outside of the group and still sounds great for his age.
Just saw him live 2 days ago and he was amazing. Over 1 and a half hours of great vocals and a nice assortment of HIM songs and his solo works. I had such a great time. Couldn't get enough of his incredible voice.

Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry, Robert Plant, Steven Tyler, Rob Halford, Eddie Vedder, Bowie - those ARE vocalists. And while Valo might be not on their level, he's got mad vocal skills as well.I hate to repeat myself, but just check his '98 overdrive gig or others from '99 - '01. His vocals are SICK.
But that's not important. He is not an opera singer.. Good rock vocalists are great actors. They feel the things they singv very deeply. His voice is pure sex and desire. And in combination with his angel look and little Satan inside it s the perfect mix.

And well, it depends on what is your definition of "real music".I listen to classics from 60's, 70's, 80's as well as some of the newer stuff.HIM is one of a few more recent bands that I enjoy. I couldn't care less for Valo's looks, his lyrics are not the best, some of the music is cool (like their 1st, 2nd and 6th album), but what really catches me is his vocals and big ass range.
