    i just put a USEAMIE Tempered Glass Screen Protector withTerminal 9H Hardness HD Clear That's not designed for a 3 D resin printer And taped it down with some waterproof painters tape. I noticed since it wasn't cut to size that it would not lay flat on the main screen unless I pushed real hard then it popped back up due to the lip on the outer edge And the stiffness of the tempered Screen protector so instead of cutting in it to the size I just overlapped it and taped it down so there was a gap between the main screen and the Tempered Glass Screen Protector and did not cause a problem at all and most people are worried about air bubbles that's one big air bubble

    I question how beneficial these protectors are. They definitely prevent resin from getting on or around the LCD but I hear they can soften print details and increase exposure time. I don't know how true that is but it would make sense. @dennys wang Have you noticed any impact to your prints/exposures?
    I'm baffled when I see someone that has exposed resin stuck to their LCD. Are people printing with a ton of debris in the vat? Are there extremely sticky resins ripping vat film apart?. Maybe there are poorly designed vats that tend to leak? I don't get it.
    Personally I'm more concerned with spills or drips that occur when adding resin or removing the build plate. I've always sealed the LCD edges and other gaps on my printers with Kapton tape. Its cheap and does the job without obstructing the print surface. I think I'll stick with that for now.
    Just a tip, if you want to increase the life of your vat film try using a validation application like UV tools. It will remove every last island in the print so there is little risk of debris floating around in the vat. It also allows you to fine tune slices in ways that will decrease light bleed and peel force. Since adding validation to my process vat film isn't really a consumable anymore. I haven't replace PFA in years.

      From all my review videos all the prints. Are they look bad or sharp?
      All my printers use screen guard.
      How beneficial?
      Plenty, many people share how their screen was saves because of screen guard.
      Sh*t can happens. And uvtools can do nothing when sh*t happens. It's better be safe than sorry.

      Your prints always looks good. You're absolutely right about sh*t happening, everyone has been there.
      I'm not opposed to screen protectors I just wasn't sure if they were worth a tradeoff in print quality & speed. If you're saying the impact is minimal that's good enough for me. I suggested UVtools as another way to minimize risk. Not as an alternative to screen protectors. Good work on your videos. @@wangdennys

      I don't see how micro islands can cause such damage, if you get a tiny island that isn't connected it will stay on the fep, then on the next laye the plate will go down to just above that cured island and it will cure the next layer which will attatch the island so nothing is left floating about

    • @joeargyle
      @joeargyle Před 8 měsíci

      Possibly. In any case, I agree with you. Something like that might ruin your print but it's not going to damage the film.
      The damage I've seen is usually caused by excessive base layers/exposure. The supports get baked onto the fep. During the lift cycle the film gets stretched before releasing, leaving small pimples/volcanoes.
      If you're damaging the film to the point of failure something has to be very wrong.

    What do you do for bubbles that form during printing? Bubbles form no matter how many times I get them out.

    • @wangdennys
      @wangdennys  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Bubble form under the screen guard during printing?
      That means they are not push out, just shrink when you squeegee them.

      maybe you are refering to small bubbles that form between the FEP and the Screen or between the FEP and the screen guard? I see these some times on my anycubic photon d2 when I use transparent resin.... I dont think there is anything you can do about this one.
