Thank you so much! So jam-packed with info and easy to understand.
Glad it was helpful!
I love that it was this fast, just wanted an overview and it was provided, thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
I'm decent at figuring out the particulars if I have a basic understanding of what is where and how it functions - exactly what your video provided. Because of your video, I was able to get in there and start making things until I hit specific problems and then search for those particular answers. So, thanks for the quick overview!
Awesome! Glad it helped!
Meow. Thanks for this resource, and for going fast enough to keep my attention lol. Some of these type of tutorials feel like a real drudge so I appreciate the quick and condensed format. I can always go look for details or ask questions later.
Glad to help!
Thank you for sharing so much knowledge so quickly. I think what other commenters didn't understand is that of course you're not going to really teach how to use something in 5 minutes, you're going to give a high level introduction to the app. But it was enough to get someone who has used any sort of layout or design program an idea of what this program is meant to do, and a general orientation.
you are welcome, I'm glad you liked it!
Good Video!
This was really helpful! Thank you. I'm in the process of seeing if I can swap from Adobe to Affinity so this has helped me get an understanding of the UI, The thing I need to get my head around next is the keyboard shortcuts 😅
Glad it helped!
Play at 0.75 Speed guys, it helps 😅
Well then it won't be five minutes anymore will it...
Didn't want to offend you, its just that you talk really fast and I'd rather watch a 10 min video and process all the information than the other way round.@@bendesignsmedia
Thanks!
@@rt5u oh I'm not offend, I was just trying to do a series of about 5 minutes for each of the programs that I talk about.
I set it to .75 even before reading this comment.
But even at that speed, it still sounds rushed. And that's because the breathing pauses have been removed.
Lessons learned:
1. Never remove breathing spaces - especially when you speed up narration.
2. A video title like "Intro to xyz in 7.34 min" will probably get more clicks because it includes a little joke.
❤
Even 2.4 Affinity Publisher is not matching InDesign. Converting files from InDesign to Publisher is a pain... No "Hide page" option. Liked or emdeddded images missing or change size...
hi! I think there may be a bit of a glitch in Publisher (V1) - unless I'm doing something wrong.. I'm designing a business card and am seeing a problem when zooming in.. I had downloaded a business card template and have rearranged it completely. This template had a front and rear side. On the rear side it has a background (white) fill layer - on top of this layer go the person's contact details.
I changed the card's dimensions to fit my needs (85 x 55mm). And when I'm zoomed out all the rear side looks like it has a white background fill (as it should). Now the problem I see when zooming in with my Mac's trackpad is on the right and bottom sides' outskirts I can see the "boxes" canvas (as if those parts are transparent...).
Is this really what is happening (a transparent background at those places), or is it just a "zoom-in glitch", and the background still has a white background fill, so I shouldn't worry about what I'm seeing while zoomed in?
Thanks!!
Most likely just a glitch, only way to know for sure is to export it and check. But of course the only time it would show up even then is if you exported with a format that supports transparency (like PNG).
Thanks for your reply! OK, so how would I check if these areas have become transparent? What would I see if I exported it in PNG format? I mean wouldn’t I have to have another surface below it in order to see if the transparency has been exported or not?
By the way, do you have any idea how I can manually drag the fill layer to resize and reposition it the way I like? I’m asking because I see this layer with the fill I’m talking about, but this document was a ready business card template so I don’t know how to move around or resize this fill at all 😢
Last - and this is important - do you have any idea how I can export my affinity publisher document/project so that someone can take it from there using InDesign and edit it? (for that he would obviously need to see all the layers that I have been working on). Obviously, I mean with no extra software purchases. 😂
I love these tutorials but REALLY struggling with the speed of your voice. Is there any way to slow it down?
Yeah of course! CZcams has settings in the bottom right corner of the videos you can adjust speed there. You can also always take on of my courses which go through things much slower and in more detail. You can find those in the description. Thanks for watching!
I actually had to slow the speed to 0.75 just to follow the presentation at a comprehensible rate.
Are the trainings you provide slower? You seem like a knowledgeable teacher but you are fast!
Oh yes, the 5 minute videos are meant to be very quick intros for CZcams, my courses are much slower, more in depth and focused on a particular project you are doing within the program.
Also check out Affinity Revolution here on CZcams.
Some un solocited advice. Dont try and cut corners just to fit your content into a time window. If the 5 minutes is that important. Spend some time organizing the content better. Quality over quantity. Forget about the algorithm.
:)
Constraints breed creativity, and if you want more info you can feel free to check out one of my full courses.
Uhh.... I really did not get much! English is not my first language, but usually I can keep up. I did get what was said when it was said, but it is gone now. This should be a 10 minute video.
Sorry, I was going for five minutes, you can always slow down the speed on youtube though if you need to
I agree, you speak too fast, remember, we are not all on the same level as you . I think your video would have been better if the same content was stretched to 10 minutes.
I had to leave. This seems to be a training video in how many word per minute can he speak!! There is really no use in doing it in 5min. If we have to run, stop, run, stop ......
So I'm off searching info from other CZcamsrs on Affinity.
One might wonder why you clicked on a 5 minute video at all then... also you may have missed all my other videos and courses. I do suggest Affinity Revolution though, they make really great videos
can you talk a little faster?
Waaaaaaay too fast a talker!
He talks so fast. good informative video though.
No I have never wondered if I can learn about Affinity Publisher in only 5 minutes. Honestly not. Sorry dude.
Strange choice to watch this video then…
@@bendesignsmedia Not at all, just because there is a clickbait title doesn't mean it can't contain any useful information. But I wasn't expecting to learn all about it in only 5min ofc.
too fast, the five minute is useless to learn anything
I do have a whole course for those who want to take the time.
om 5min but a 7 min video....your contradicting yourself in the title and the 1st sentence outa your moth ....just saying
