Two years ago I uploaded a video showing most unused objects in SMG1. However, there were a few that I dismissed as broken, useless or simply unknown... until now.
Interesting! DragonHeadFlower also has an animation where the leaves spin like a propeller, so may it was supposed to fly along the path while trying to eat Mario.
As a huge fan/lover of Piranha plants, I'm extremely upset that the DragonHead Flower was scrapped. P.s please don't argue with me, that's CLEARLY one of the piranha plants species.
MarioLauncherAttractor seems like it could be actually used for some custom levels. I'm sad that it was removed from the actual game, cause it seems like such a cool concept...
Seems kind of strange seeing DragonHeadFlower have some coding still left over even if it's incomplete. Makes me wonder what other unused models still have something functional that's still usable in game. Also, if you somehow manage to get BossCrab and SandGolem up and running I would really appreciate it.
Oh, you're still around, nice :> The unused models do not have any leftover code. Only the unused objects I covered in this and the first video are in the game's code, anything else was either removed or not in the game at all. Just leftover unused models.
Kinda crazy how I just found the first video last night! Also, interesting how it looks like dying from a cannon shot is actually timer-based and not the result of crossing a death barrier/blast zone.
Yeah, it's timer based. You can tell if you just play around with them in vanilla SMG. It's something I've personally known for a while, it's an interesting mechanic. Probably to keep people from breaking levels like Bowser Jr's Airship Armada where, if it wasn't timer-based, you could just like skip the level because adding death barriers might interfere with non-cannon gameplay due to the levels nature.
What I find super interesting about DragonHeadFlower is that there is an enemy in Kirby’s Return to Dreamland called Hearbell (which also goes unused) that functions very similarly to DragonHeadFlower (i.e both would have eaten Mario and Kirby respectively). It could be a coincidence but it’s possible that maybe the dev teams of both games shared some ideas with one another (considering both games released for the Wii and Return to Dreamland was in development for 11 years, this is highly possible). Here’s a video of Hearbell’s unused animations if you’re interested: czcams.com/video/SqtZtwWhQew/video.html
Ya know, why on earth wasn't the cannon redirect thing used? It's so cool and seems fully functional, like I could image an area where you have to do a cannon shot but there's like suns in the way that have a gravitational pull and you like weave between them using the gravity shift to redirect. And the render looks cool as well. I really wish that was used. Maybe in a mod someday if someone decides to actually make a Galaxy 1 hack that isn't just Kaizo or SMG2-style green stars in SMG1.
Even if "BgmProhibitArea" is unknown, all I can infer is that it maybe "prohibits background music" from playing whilst in it. Or maybe it supresses the powerup music currently playing? This should be tested (I can't mod SMG1 so it would be great if someone else tested this) Edit: That one dislike makes me laugh I wonder what the person was thinking when he disliked the video. Awesome showcase of unused objects Aurum!
You should btw upload in 1440p or higher if you want to get a better video codec. (vp9) [as in you simply can upscale it in your video editing software]
That variant of the cannon is definitely interesting. It could have been a really cool variant to use in the actual game.
It's not a variant of the cannon itself. It is a separate object causing the effect.
@@AurumNMG Definitely an interesting object that got unused.
My profile picture is me in the unused planet HomePlanet (From the E3 2006 demo) with the red star.
I hope that they can add that cannon in Super Mario Galaxy 3 if Nintendo make that game
@@PowerRedStar nice
Oh my god I literally just watched the original video again earlier today and now this. Man this is great.
Interesting! DragonHeadFlower also has an animation where the leaves spin like a propeller, so may it was supposed to fly along the path while trying to eat Mario.
No. It’s animation is for the star ball challenges, it sucks mario in and spits him out like the golf holes throws him in a path.

Yeah, too bad that the scrapped enemies aren't used for next games.

Theres also a unused classic bully model for some reason in the game

After all this time the dragonflower was just used as the Star Ball launcher. How far we've come.
I was waiting for this video so much! Thx!

Oh yeah! He's back! Also DragonHeadFlower looks like something out of Sunshine. Is this only in Galaxy 1 or are they also in 2?
SMG1 only
@@AurumNMG Ok thank you! Is there any way to edit the DataTable.arc and add these?
@@Dr.BaconSlices Such a file does not exit. It would require the entire code and data for these objects to be added in SMG2.
@@AurumNMG I knew I saw the DragonHeadFlower before! The Newer Team made a video on this a while back: czcams.com/video/u-8d4P3j7lM/video.html

the dragon head enemy moves like a sunshine enemy
man, its funny to look at all these people before the dragon head flower's use was discovered

I imagine dragon head flower was intended to act like the creepvines in future games and mario maker 3d world style

2:56 Dk barrel
yes new unused objects video of SMG
POV: your in the new super mario galaxy update
Wow!
Why the heck did Nintendo make the game bigger to have all of this finished and spiced up?!
Omg why did they never use that gravity field for cannons in a level? It could have been so cool
Wow, this was amazing. Are any of these functional in SMG2?
mario angry birds space looks cool
I really want to see screen blur be used somewhere, or even whenever im at 1 health
DragonHeadFlower is supposed to eat Mario while he's on a star ball and spit him somewhere else
Thank you :)
The blowfish plant looks terrifying
Some of these would have made the game better
very good
Awesome 👏

Can Big Bubble Generator from Bubble Breeze be imported into Super Mario Galaxy 2? I plan on using it in a mod.

yo
If one were to get these objects working, could they be used for a hack? (Something like neo mario galaxy)
Sehr cool (:
Can i have some of the animations from the dragonheadflower?
You gotta do one of these for SMG2
You should do a video with yoshi in super Mario galaxy 1
It’s been forever...
Cursed plant
So if mario shoots out of a cannon and doesn't touch the floor for a few seconds he dies?
Yea, it's a fail-save to ensure the game does not softlock.
