You said it. "A bit of a tricky one". I think for a 2 time zone watch, I'm looking for simplicity on the dial. And although I respect Zelos for the work they've put into this model it just wouldn't be a top pick for me. I hope they keep up the good work though.

  • @mikep5478

The uneven date numbers was something I noticed even before any reviews hit the tube. I have no worries about the warranty regardless of price, but I respect and understand that mileage may vary. My Mirage 8-day @ $4,900 was money well spent. What I do know is that if any issues come up Elshan stands behind his products with exemplary customer service. Unfortunately, that's more than I can say for some higher end established brands with 2+ years on their warranties.

I own a Zelos Thresher MOP and its at another level, a joy to the eyes and the mind. Having said that, personally I think that the best microbrand there is as of now is Farer followed closely by Wise and Baltic ( second and third place I should say) I would put Zelos in a 4th place. I don't put CW ( which I am a BIG fan of) here because I don't consider them to be microbrand, but more of a small brand , like spinnaker, but this is just me, based on sales volume and marketing budget.

I saw V2 was a little thinner and unlike V1, V2 has a minute track in the rehaute instead of the small 24 hour dial which allows a genuine 3 time tracking ability which I appreciate so much more than a minute track. This watch is luscious. Thanks for another fine review Jody

One of my 2 watches is a Zelos and I really enjoy it. But I gotta say I 100% agree with you regarding warranties, 1 yr just gives off the impression that it won't last long, imo it should be standard for watches to have a 2-3 yr warranty given how solid movements are now. And while I know its a "micro brand", they still pull hundreds of thousands per normal drop based off stock numbers so I feel like this should be feasible.

This watch seemed MUCH more legible/functional during the lume test when the crystal/dial and perlage/decorated movement are minimized and you can clearly see the functional element. IMHO the functional elements have enough whimsy and interest to carry the design. A tophat domed crystal and dial both sapphire sounds like a reflection/distortion nightmare, hopefully there is plenty of AR coatings to mitigate that as well as Jody's amazing camera work! Another great review!

I own several zelos at the great value end of the scale. But it's watches like this I think that show they're still a good value watch brand, but not a multi $1k brand. Nice movement, but reuse of a diver watch case, poor clasp design/fit to the bracelet, boring bracelet design and 1 year warranty are all huge negatives. Other brands are offering 3-5 year warranties on the movement at this price, they really need to up their game if they want to be in this value category I think

Not for me. It's out of my price range, but even if it weren't, the date complication spoils it for me. It's not that the watch is hard to read, per se. The hands are perfectly visible. It's just that it's so busy my eyes have to adjust before I figure out WTF is going on...

While it is a very cool watch, the legibility is rather poor and the other elements become pretty distracting. Would much prefer if they had a strong tint on the dial that lets you see what's happening only if you're looking closely

This will be the Zelos to break the relase value rule. Can't see it being big on residuals

Interesting prediction! Come back in a year and we'll see if it is correct!

Actually very cool, the date is very interesting(and very visible)... but NO thank you.
They need to drop the "Driver" here though.
When it comes to Zelos I really like a number of their actually "Dive" watches.
But I really find myself attracked to the SPEARFISH GMT BUMBLEBEE YELLOW, and I'm not a GMT guy. I hope they bring it back.

I own several zelos but this isn't headed my way. So busy and hard to read. Great review though.
