I'm not a coffee drinker but I was a beer drinker in my younger days. I know all about the difference between type 1 which is not caused by being overweight and type 2 which is connected to being overweight a high percentage of the time. Now to the point, one dietary habit that almost all health "experts" agree on is to not drink a lot of calories. Soda for example is a terrible habit. Eat your calories and drink water most of the time. Or drink unsweetened tea but don't drink sugar or any carbohydrate if u want to enjoy good diabetes and weight control.

What I found at Starbucks is a cafe latte. Tall with decaf expresso, steamed heavy whipping cream. No half and half or milk of any kind. This works for me. Very little if any blood sugar rise.

Starbucks used to offer a few sugar free syrups but over the past 2 years, in Washington state, they now only offer one and it is vanilla. They did have SF chocolate syrup but they dropped that too. I sent a very respectfully worded email asking them to reconsider the idea of offering more SF syrups again in support of the millions of people in America who have diabetes. This is the projected numbers by January of 2025: 9.7M adults have undiagnosed diabetes, 29.3 million have diagnosed diabetes, and 115.9 million have pre-diabetes. They did not respond to my outreach, which was their prerogative. I was disappointed. They make a LOT of money and could surely offer SF syrups in support of so many people who would still like to have a coffee treat now and then.

Wow, that's quite the caffeinated journey! 🌟 It's fascinating to see how different Starbucks drinks affect blood sugar levels. It really highlights the importance of being mindful of what we're sipping on, especially for those of us keeping an eye on our health. Thanks for sharing your experience and doing this experiment for us - it definitely gives me something to think about next time I'm in line for my coffee fix!

The only Starbucks drink I have had was black coffee. I had to sell off most of my belongings to afford that drink.
I found it interesting that they don't sell a large black coffee
    Or black small black coffee
They don't have a medium black coffee.
That was where they lost me.

I haven’t thought about that 🤔 When I go to Starbucks my go-to is a black coffee or an iced tea. But you’re right, it costs an arm and a leg. This was kind of an expensive experiment

I don’t care for coffee, but I love a London Fog, and most coffee shops know how to make one. I just order it with sugar-free syrup and add a bit of stevia. I bolus for the milk and don’t generally notice a rise in my blood sugar. Caffeine doesn’t seem to affect me. (Great Video, by the way!)

My favorite Starbucks drink is the Venti non-fat latte. I’m not sure how it impacts my blood sugar but definitely less than many of their overly sweet fatty offerings.

Caffeine does not make your blood sugar spike. The sugar added to your coffee makes your blood sugar spike. The black coffee itself literally has zero calories. Black coffee is an extremely healthy drink full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber.

My husband and stop at Starbucks every Sunday. It’s a treat for us. I have usually already had my 20 oz coffee at home so I always get a cafe latte decaf with whole milk. Depending ion the season either hot or iced.

I love the hot Vanilla Latte and Carmel Macchiato with oatmilk. I know it’s not BS friendly but I don’t know how to fix that and make it taste good, so I try to have it only once a week as a treat. I bolus and then go for a walk if it stays too high. 🤷‍♀️

I drink coffee every morning, and I also see my blood sugars rise just about every morning. I'm unsure if it's due to the caffeine or the 'dawn phenomenon.' It's probably a chicken or the egg type of deal, but i'm not really willing to skip my morning caffeine to answer the question. Thanks for doing some experiments to answer some of it for me!

Thank You so much for your web channel, I don't drink Starbucks but I have a Nespresso machine at home. I usually stick with a few flavors with Caffeine and sugar free Vanilla syrup, I usually froth the creamer add Splenda and I am happy. It does spike my blood sugar just a little bit, but I give my insulin through my pump. I drink 1 -2 cups in the morning. I Love watching your podcasts, keep it up Lorielkin1973

Coffee does not spike my glucose. I have the coffee on all day. Consider myself lucky. Back in the 1970's coffee in a diabetic exchange diet was considered free. I dropped the added 1/2 teaspoon sugar per cup when diagnosed.
