    LOVE THIS!! I feel used by a lot of the CHH turned inspirational artists. The church isn't perfect, but a lot of us put our money and time volunteering at concerts, ministry events, and doing free marketing because we wanted to see Jesus glorified, and support the artist. It seems like a lot of them are backslidden and justifying carnality. Rejecting every form of correction as judgement. Praying for the industry, and the Body. Thank you for all of your contributions!

    Really helpful history and context. I think you nailed several things, but the issue of respect for the previous generation is huge. As a wider culture, it's virtually nonexistent. Yet, as Christians, we should stand out in respecting and honoring as Scripture commands. Keep repping Jesus, brothers.

    I have my opinions on the matter like everyone else, but I'm thankful that you took your time to explain your motives and express your concerns. Standing up for a friend is honorable, I understand your perspective. However, there are other areas that concern me personally. But, that's me, we all have our own strengths and weaknesses, blind spots and struggles so I won't cast my convictions down upon you. I'm just thankful that you took the time to address the public and I'm hoping for an immediate resolution. We can discuss further maybe at some point, but for now I'm thankful for this video. I hope we all can be reasonable and respectful. And just so all who read are aware, I love how Shai addressed his concerns. I love that he discussed it with those he was concerned with directly and even followed up with afterwards. If anyone is thinking to take shots at Shai remember this, he's not only a pioneer of the genre, not only a respectable Christian man who's stood against heresy and proclaimed the Gospel faithfully with every opportunity that came his way, but he's also a pastor. Let's respect him as such. Grace and peace bro. - Marrio

    CHH has reminded me of when me and my husb squabble in disagreements. We don't always do it in a well mannered way but neither ever doubt the other's salvation or desire for the overall good of our home.
    Thank u Hazakim. That was really constructive! Though I didn't see the original vid, I'm glad u apologised. It may point Ruslan to repent also if he has sinned.
    Funny enough when I make a playlist for my car, I put all of u in there despite ur "camps". The secular media interview responses and Twitter posts are my biggest gripes not the music necessarily.

    Totally agree brother, I lost interest in a lot of my favorite artists as the gospel message slowly diminished from the content a few years back, I switched off from these artist's reluctantly and am glad this is a topic brought out into the open. everything we do should be from a point of glorifying God and reaching out to lost brothers and sisters and not hiding the light in the dark but exposing the dark with light (looking forward to a new album brother)

    Bruh, I still wanna hear the Hazakim Ruslan track!

  • @iammarsdavis
    @iammarsdavis Před 7 lety +2

    Thank you very much for sharing Tony. I’m a Ruslan fan and Shai Linne fan. I’ve heard of you guys too :). I don’t buy the hyperbole Ruslan back peddled into. I thought he was tripping and of course thought I your track was indeed heavy handed. It didn't turn me off from CHH. I actually jokingly said I would make a diss track on all of CHH. I low key wouldn’t have listened to the new Shai Linne track if Ruslan hadn’t responded in that fashion.
    I agree with your analysis that there is a lack of respect for grown men in western culture. The urban and hip hop context are a part of western culture so it makes since that the disrespect is there. I think it is a function of what we value as a society (money and power and youth). They all give you the false impression of immortality like no one can touch me. We respect people who have the money and the power and visibility.
    I appreciate the you detailing the history of the movement especially for a guy like me who grew up listening to mainstream artists (and still listening) with no clue of rappers rapping about God. I remember hearing of the Gospel Gangsters thinking they were super corny or as we say in Flint "chatty."
    Although I consider myself a fan of Ruslan, I did think his song was disrespectful and can recall a conversation with a friend talking about he was "doing too much" with the song.
    I agree that respect should be given where respect is due. Shai Linne deserves respect. You guys deserve respect as well. I do believe there would have been someone if not Ruslan who would've addressed this issue on wax, maybe not as heavy handed. Who knows maybe this exchange has squashed all that. OR maybe there is more to come, who knows.
    Thank you for your honesty. I appreciate it.
    I hear you on the lack of Gospel in CHH now, but I honestly can't call it because for awhile I stopped listening as intently as I used to. I know there are artists who speak unashamedly like GOM.
    I feel you on integrity and originality as well. I came up in a time where biting each others style was frowned upon. However no one really cares about that as much. I also am sober enough to look back and see that in every era a lot of the music sounded the same. So maybe people have been biting all along. I also can say for myself, my flow is an amalgamation of all of my favorite rappers.
    Also thank you for confronting G Craig Lewis. I was new in my personal walk with Jesus when I was exposed to him and quickly discarded my own Christ centered music that I was making because I believed him. It doesn't help when your trusted Christian friends are pushing something on you. I remember his campaign against hip hop. I appreciate you. I remember the track that y'all made.
    I appreciate this video and what you are doing brother and yes we don’t agree on politics.
    In terms of this generation being about themselves, I would submit to you that people have always been about themselves. Nothing is new under the sun. Only thing that is different is the mediums we use for our self indulgence.
    I do miss feeling like I left a Bible study or theology seminar after listening to CHH not saying everyone has to do that, but just saying. Again thanks for the video. Peace and grace.
    P.S.
    What's the name of the song in the video? Looks like a good video/song.

    Pt. 3
    It's why I left CHH because why search for 'positive' music when I could go to worldly positive music that did it so much better?
    And also, that music was more honest about why they made its content.
    Now, 3 years later, I'm glad to listen to your music, (Hip Hologetics Vol. 3); although retrospectively its 2 years old but fresh to me and you guys still make entertaining mysic that makes clear mentions of God. Another aid to my Christian journey.

    My random thoughts: At the end of the day (when we die unless Jesus come back before then) God is going to sort everything out. But please Shai linne/lamp mode, Ruslan and all rappers that rap for God, I just pray for reconciliation. Just do your part and let The Holy spirit do the convicting. I'm truly praying for all you guys who rap for Jesus. I may not agree with everything, but you guys did made an impact on my life when i first started listening. I hope this message gets out.. Forget about what people are saying, all that matters is what does God say. Only God knows the heart. God bless.

    Ruslan was offensive and said at the end that it was hypothetical. No one even said that; like EVER in CHH about Shai Linne like, EVER. This didn't seem 'hypothetical, it sounded passive-aggressive to me.
    In the end, He said that that's what people would've said if they were attacking in the SAME fashion that Shai Linne did and that simply WASN'T the CASE.
    I dunno what was up with that. Shai Linne had "Random Thoughts 3" and it was about the confusion that Reach Records had made in the CHH community; which were indeed valid. They made a lot of moves and were not really clear in them toward the body.
    I thought your check towards Ruslan was...'heavy-handed' as you said and although some of your points were interesting and noted, I can't say that it was fully well-received. I agree that he needed a check. Unsure if that had love there tho.

      @TheoCynical Před 3 lety

      Context was fun because he played the brag rapper and compared to the context of the literal Sun as the hottest thing alive and compared it to popular rappers.
      It was clever and had nothing to do with CHH. But if you count the context of the entire album then you may infer that it's about CHH seeking popularity.
      However, alone, it's a clever rap that compared hot rappers, Christian or not, subverts your expectations, and is actually talking about the Sun.
      It was super dope.

    I think that if Ruslan made it EXTREMELY apparent that it was an example-diss, he would'nt have had to EXPLAIN IT AWAY. Even if so, Shai's attempt to combat Lecrae on his clarity, it was good; because, its true. It wasn't assuming people's motives, it was expressing sentiments that many of us had.

    Ruslan is a solid rapper. Ive seen him perform live w John Givez and Beleaf. Their performance was high quality. The lyrics of Ruslan and the dream Junkiez have been edifying to me in the past. Lately though, my spirit has been turned off to the content of Ruslans weekly freestyle releases. His flow and delivery are good but the lyrics are self indulgent. Too much naval gazing to really be encouraging or helpful in any real spiritual way.

  • @Leo.SKDXL05
    @Leo.SKDXL05 Před 7 lety +4

    This morning my six & 11 year old daughters who read the bible with me on a daily basis with their cousins were listening to Lecrae "I'll find you" and she was under the impression that Tori Kelly was "christian". I was blessed by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to have a teachable conversation with them over pancakes. So we looked up if Tori Kelly was christian and found this quote on "Premier Gospel" website* Tori said “My faith is a huge part of my life. I don't force it into my music, but it's in my experiences so it comes through. People pick up on what they want to pick up on, but any way strangers connect to a song that I wrote is awesome.”. Here are some of the scriptures we reviewed in our conversation.
    Jesus said, "18“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’b If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’ John 15:18-25
    23Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? 26Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. Luke 9:23-26
    Hazakim my brother I would like to encourage you to continue being your brothers keeper and lifting the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ in Word and deed. I'm truly blessed that God has continuously kept His remnant "the 7000 thousand" from bowing down to Ba'al and Ashareth. May the Lord Jesus Christ continue to keep all those who are His till He calls us home or His return. amen

    Pt. 2 CHH was a platform to edify the church but later became a business model and platform to 'reach the world' and even been a business platform to make their own content.
    Everyone 'made strongs for God' but now everyone was making Christian content and wanted financial support to be financially successful.
    Instead of being a valuable vehicle for reaching people, CHH diversified to be an entity of a Christian alternative( although it was always an alternative to worldly music that prior had the label of "lame" and etc) for youth groups.
    It morphed it's something less about edifying the church and more on riding trends to be clean popular music.

    I agree that Shai has classics. I love mixing up his instrumentals. I think Shai conveys lowly spirit which holds a grounding that reflects Christs wishes over all. He loves a broken spirit and a contrite heart rather independent opinion which can be so hard and proud. If the heat rises who are we not to let it burn? At least real character surfaces and if its short then at least when gently measured via Gods word we can openly give ground to God to do his work. Hey Tony, I'm a relatively new fan of Hazakim. It's really hard to find engaging messianic music so your ministry has been a blessing. I've got a concern though. When listening to Brace Yourself I was confused as to why you guys would include the lyrics "lofty and high with the all seeing eye.." Can you briefly explain why you would include this despite it's obvious relation to freemasonry? Thanks!

    • @hazakimmusic
      @hazakimmusic  Před 6 lety +4

      Volleyball...thanks for the encouraging words. Concerning your question, we must remember who owns these titles and who created the very language used and hijacked by the cultist - who created the eye, the owl, the hand, the rainbow and all the other symbols and creations the unbelievers and god-haters use? None of these belong to the unbeliever - they belong to our Lord, the Creator. The language in this lyric can be backed up by Scripture. Indeed the Lord is lofty and high (Isaiah 6:1, Isaiah 57:15, Isaiah 52:13, Philippians 2:9,) and His eyes see all (2 Chronicles 16:9, Proverbs 15:3, Hebrews 4:13). The use of the term "all seeing eye" is there to convey what you noted...a jab at the cultist. The Lord alone sees all, despite the blasphemous constructs of the ungodly. The God of Scripture is the only One who sees all. In other words we take these words and give them back to the One who created the eye, and who rightly owns the title. Parallels to this can also be found in Scripture. The word "El" (deity) was a generic word applied to the pagan Gods such as moloch, baal, hadad, etc...but the prophets of Israel were right to apply it correctly to the God of Israel. Hope this helps.

I don't really care why anymore and at the time, I had found their sudden distancing from CHH as honestly opportunistic. They had thrived off platforms and when they got some good acknowledgement; and maybe some new experiences influenced them to branch out to be more than Christian Artists, they bailed they had no clear explanations. They just moved and wanted people to understand with little to no explanation.
    They had removed their mission statement, had artist that weren't known for their affiliation with God like CHH fans were accustomed to but instead Christians who seem familiar with the faith traditionally and culturally only.
    I've heard that Lecrae have made some brushes with people and talking with them and those experiences have seemed to be positive. Do I know what they talked about? No idea.
    But the world refers to him as a Christian rapper despite him wanting to distance himself from the label. They seem to understand but their encounters with him seem to be positive so that's good.
    Regardless, I stopped listening to a lot of CHH music because of the hysteria that occurred 3 or so years ago and wanted to distance myself from church culture altogether. I am thankful to God that the Holy Spirit had kept me during those barren days and year of questioning.
    I'm glad to watch this again because that I'm being honest with the incident as I saw it. I saw no problem with your rebuke because i saw Ruslan's comment/song as reckless.
    I didn't like how they shut you down but supported Ruslan's hypothetical jabs at Shai Linne in a diss song. I thought it was a diss song claimed to be hypothetical. I know he said 'ironic' and etc but I found it a hypothetical diss; and a diss nonetheless.
    Shai Linne had kept his mouth shut throughout the entire Reach CHH distancing and the changing of CHH got turned against when he opened his mouth.
    When he made Random Thoughts 3, I think he vented what a lot of people had on their mind and the frustration in the choices and the confusion that Reach had brought and CHH's weird trends.
    Do I know what happened with Reach since then? Not really. I know now that Kim K. likes a song of theirs "Coming in Hot" that was already 1 or so years old when she heard it. Good for them.
    I stopped following them in the journey so it was a passing comment.
    Today also, I'm a big fan of Ruslan and his content. It has been super helpful and getting me out of my spiritual rut. I dont agree with everything but generally, I agree. He's been a solid dude so far.
    I could be wrong but, I think he have matured since then given you both have settled your beef.
    Idk what you guys are doing and while I respect that you guys removed that song of rebuke, I still think we need a understanding in the CHH community.
    Shai Linne does deserve his respect for his contributions in the CHH game and we should've respected his opinions because he's never held bitter energy to the Body of Christ. He's always cared.
    Today, things need adjusting. It's in engaging the world, there needs to be strategies that aren't public and there needs to be intentional engagement and audience respect and understanding.

    Wow, I really am glad that you guys stood up for Shai, considering I just found him, and I haven’t heard anyone rap with so much authority and command so much respect. I only disagree with him on a very minor issue that isn’t even worth bringing up, here. I’m just a bit worried about beef going on in Christian Rap. Sorry, I am a few years older than you guys, so it’s still Rap and not Hiphop. But it sounded like Nas and JZ were going at it. I don’t even know what was said, but isn’t it crazy to keep fighting fire with fire? I mean, Shai is quite intelligent. I believe he would have defended himself, had he thought it ws even worth it. I can only hope that everyone has settled their differences. If y’all are on the same team, Team Jesus, iron sharpens iron. I do agree with shai on the false teachers song, but I don’t know what you guys said to this young man. Maybe you should have gone to him with other people he respected to correct him, but if Shai, himself didn’t really take time out of his day to respond, it doesn’t matter. It isn’t about Shai’s career for him, anyway. I think he just wants Jesus’ message to get out there. I’m really late to this game, though, because I gave up on Christian Rap when I heard so much violence in it, it sounded like the world.

I still hope you guys have come to some agreement, although, people who want their own kind of god, well, they just can’t be someone with whom most God-fearing people can agree. Sorry if I sounded a bit harsh. I haven’t yet heard your response to him, but hearing him was enough for me to say that. You guys keep fighting for sound Biblical Theology.

    I understand where you're coming from on almost all of what you said. But it's ironic that you talk about respecting Shai Linne but he isn't held accountable for, and is often praised for disrespecting preachers. Someone please help me understand why it's wrong for a rapper to dis another rapper but it's perfectly fine for a rapper to dis a preacher or preachers. I'm not defending Ruslan but I do believe what's good for goose is good for the gander. There was nothing graceful about the song False Teachers; it was definitely malicious and reckless so why was it not condemned. You say you're not holding him up as a "sacred cow", but aren't you really? Shai Linne gave zero examples of how the teachings of Pastor Osteen, whom I often receive a word from the Lord through, and whom he called out by name, on wax, was or is false. He he given no credible reason to justify such an attack but I guess if you agree with his narrative then it's okay, right? Just because you don't receive what someone is teaching doesn't make it false doctrine, it just means that that word wasn't meant for you. Disrespect is disrespect no matter how you feel about the person who's being disrespected. Disrespect breads disrespect, especially in Hip-Hop, and if that's what guys are on then they shouldn't be surprised when it comes back on them. Remember..... anybody can get it.

      I used to think so but, I think now he's matured and just wants practical and responsible Christian living.
      Back in the day, to me, he came off to me as bragging and disconcerting.
      When he was in the Breax was odd and some other stuff.
      But today, he doesn't seem like the same person he was. I think God matured him.

On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

    Crazy how some of y'all "hip hop heads" aren't catching the message of Ruslans song, in the song he said something along the lines of "See what happens when I make music and assume / We both end up looking like fools " The "personal attacks" came from the concept that he was in a world where he was ASSUMING the worst about Shai

  • @giddy5210

    Very very disgraceful. I feel ashamed now to associate myself with stuff like this. Since we all trying to honest. Why don't we go all in. If you have every right to speak up? So does everyone including Ruslan. Shai was NOT suppose to put Reach guys on blast, that to me was really seeking attention. Even to fact of saying Lecrae dissed the church; come on. This is pure evidence that the Spirit of God wasn't involved in none of this in the first place. Bcos if He was we will discern what Lecrae was doing.

    • @hazakimmusic
      @hazakimmusic  Před 7 lety +1

      I get what Lecrae was doing..and as I stated, I think many of the consequences of his well-intentioned desire to reach the world were unintentional. But there were in fact negative consequences of what was done. If you actually listened to this whole video...I make it clear that I believe Lecrae to be a well-intentioned and friendly person. I've never had the feeling that he meant ill towards anyone or this movement. But we all understand our own propensities as humans to navigate through difficult situations - or ones that could affect our popularity, and feeling the need to compromise a little. I've done it. You've done it. We've all done it. No judgement on the brother...but it is what it is.

      Giddy that is a pet peeve of mine putting folks on blast wether it is in chh or on the pulpit. I attended a church for years and members of the church was called out over the pulpit. I thought the body of Christ was suppose to talk to people that they had problems with. They need to come together on their own without being on social media period. This really saddens me. We are all on different walks in Christ. None of us are the same. The comments are mind blowing. We should be praying for the body.

    I'm really sad about all of this!!! Where is the Bible?! I love you Lamp mode! i don't knwo that much Ruslan, but you recognize him as a bruh, then i love him too cuz the Christ died for him! I do think that there should be no beef in the home of the Lord, Matthew 18:15-17 Dealing With Sin in the Church15 “If your brother or sister[a] sins,[b] go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But
    if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every
    matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’[c] 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

      Tchoutang etc etc. I scrolled through many comments looking for a single reference to the Word Of God. I was just about ready to post my own, until I finally came to yours. Thank you. You put thing's in there proper, biblical, prospective. (Matt 18:15, an Matt 5:21-26)if followed, would have made all this un-necessary. From Shai to Ruslan. As Christians, we should hold tightly to Scripture as our only source and guide for faith and practice in pursuing Godliness to the honor and Glory of God(1 Cor 10:31, 2 Tim 3:16, 2 Pet 1:3-4).
      Remaining, In His Grip.. Daniel(Joshua 5:13-15, Isa. 66:1-2, 1 Pet 1:15)
      "Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits,impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace(James 3:13-18)
      "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you(Eph 4:29:32).

      Amen to your post Daniel etc etc ... hahaha. I'm a Cameroonian (in central afica), and im a born again since late 2013, and i love Lamp mode a lot, i do appreciate Hazakim, Tim, S.O, JSON, and my boy SHAÏ!! but i didn't appreciate the fact that Hazakim responded to Ruslan, it is not spiritual, even though Ruslan too did a bad by actually dissing Shaï.
      I washed a Ruslan video song, and it was not edifying for me because i was surprised to see alcohol and all this stuff within that video, he is not the only one among those people rappers who claim to be christians!! And im sad about it!!
      Actually Shaï explained in a video how he worked about that issue of Reach Records behind doors by speaking with Lecrae i think with Trip Lee too!! This Shaï Linne is too much Theological and i like it a lot, because with him it's like he is sharing Jesus doctrines to the world and the Body!! Then after warning them, they did not want to listen, that's why he told the world that Reach Recors are not anymore in rapping the Bible, but they are merging the sacred and the profane and they create confusion! And the Bible ask to the Body of Christ to put a situation of sin in light!! Shai loves them a lot and he wants them to turn from their evil ways!!
      Galatians 6: 1 "Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. 4 Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, 5 for each one should carry their own load. 6 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor. 7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."
