The ps2 port of this game got a lot of flak for being a mercenaries POD reskin, but given how good the OG mercenaries is, this game does well.
Yes also the PS3/360 versions being kind of bugged but this for PS2 was pretty good game, almost as good as the first one
I've mistaken this game into Gta for some reasons

as a kid both games were awesome to me
I always knew this game was inferior to the first game, but at least you can play it without connecting it online and having it crash on startup... the game is essentially broken if you're connected online on the PS3 and Xbox 360. I do remember reading about a fix for the 360 version, but being that Xbox Live and the storefront are shutting down soon (along with the PlayStation Network for the PS3), I'm pretty sure those versions of the game will remain unplayable online.
I only played this on 360 back in the day and didn’t realize there was a ps2 version. This looks awesome, looks just like Mercenaries 1 which was a complete banger.
merc 1 still one of my favs, draw distance better on og xbox - the emulator works fine
It's honestly pretty mid compared to the first game. I like the addition of swimming and boats (something that I thought would have been nice in the first game), but the game legit looks like smeared Vaseline, and the mission designs for some of those contracts is just... pretty awful. I still have Nam flashbacks about Ewan's turret mission... *shudders in disgust*

Eu baixei essa semana pra jogar pelo ps3, tinha que lançar um para a atual geração, se bem que hoje em dia tem o just cause que tem uma boa semelhança com o mercenaries..

The game graphics and sounds are very nostalgic, though i don't remember finishing the first mission when I was a kid.

I'd love for this game to get a proper remaster (PS2 or PS3 version, I don't care) or ported to the PS5 or Series S. Though if it did get a remaster, EA would somehow find a way to ruin it.
My childhood in one game
I no lifed this port as a kid born 02. This was my favorite game of all time and always will be. So much nostalgia of my childhood from this game. So much so as I later on in my early teens bought the 360 port and no lifed that the same. For my 16th birthday I played POD. My favorite games of all times and its beautiful to see it suddenly hit my recommended.
Despite its bad reputation for bugs and glitches, its a fun game. 🙂

I remember the ps2 version of merc 2. Not as good as the first one or even the upgraded 360/ps3/pc versions. Good in it's own right though.

I always thought it was weird how they made two completely different versions for PS2 and the next gen consoles/PC. For a game that was rocky in production to begin with, two distinct versions released so close to each other seems like a lot.

Why PAL though? Does it run better on emulator or does it have exclusive content or something?

I'm using PAL version because there's widescreen patch.. BUT too bad the patch make the emulator crash after a few min. 💔
@@xTimelessGaming I see. Did you get your widescreen patch from the PCSX2 thread? It gets updated often and last time I checked they favored NTSC versions over PAL unless it had a lot of different features or was an unique game.
In fact, I just checked and they do have a NTSC-U .pnach for this game so, give it a try?

Essentially this is Mercenaries "1.5" you could say for the PS2 port...But when compared to the PC/PS3/Xbox 360 ports it's an entirely different experience. I played the 360 version and it was a classic...

Geez I miss this game!
PC version so much superior in terms of graphics. But what im really interested about, did it froze in some point of the gameplay, or its fixed with newer version, i tried it on like a v1.5.xxx something, and i did play some and then game froze, and still at the same point, very frustrating, the first mercenaries run great, but this gave hard time.
Ok i see under the video, disable widescreen hack :), thanks for that. So thats why it crashed on me :). Good to know, thank you. It pays of to watch ur videos, at least those games im interested in.

I am actually replaying Merc 1 on my series x . I no EA still renews the license for mercenaries I just wish they would do something with it
I wish merc 2 was available on the series x. I have it on origin for PC but there's a bug where everytime you leave a building for a mission you fall through the map and get stuck
They've done nothing with it since the past decade. They planned a new one, but cancelled it and remain quiet on it. Use it, or lose it, EA.

Hola,soy un jugador de la vieja guardia de la Ps2 y me gustaria que me instruyeras.No he podido activar los trajes alternativos en ninguno de los dos mercenarios de Ps2,en el mundo en llamas me dijeron que tenia que pasar unos desafios con Fiona,pero nunca aparecieron tales desafios ni se activaron,y en el Playground solo me aparece uno en la segunda parte en una tienda de campaña de los aliados. Yo juego ambos en PAL. Gracias

A fun game on the PS3 but the aiming always bugged me - inaccurate and the shoulder always covers the barrel/weapon model so you do see the gun you’re shooting which annoys me
