I am not responsible for any damage caused if you attempt this job based on information shown in this video.
Brilliant vid, clear and precise. I'm confident I could follow this after a few more viewings.
Thanks for takingvthe time to helps us with our ageing volvo lumps.
Happy to hear that you found it useful. I try to keep my videos straight to the point and as short as possible.
Great video. Got an LT35 SDI… have had much fun and games trying to tune the pump. Finally got some feedback from a forum I joined. Basically the wrong timing point described in a ‘manual’ I had bought. Van starts on the button but starts to run poorly after about 5 mins… anyhoo..when I get back home I will hopefully sort that with VCDS..
Thank you so much for this great video. I really learned alot. More grease to your elbow and more wisdom always.
Brilliant tutorials videos, I will try to setup mine soon....
Great info! Thanks so much!
Very good accurate infomation! I will try this on my d5252!
You can also fine adjust timing on the idler pully if I remember correctly.
good explanation , thank you
You’re welcome, Thanks for watching!
I have a d5252t vag engine on a Volvo s70 I guess is the same procedure to timing the pump?. 2.5 tdi. Thanks for video and explanation!
I’m not too familiar with Volvos so I can’t confirm it’s the same engine but please let me know if you find it is the same engine.
@@shedworxxx it is the same engine. The same. Engine at T4. THANKS FOR INFO
nice one bro
Thanks for watching bro
nize
Fucking class video this is mate
Thanks bro and thank you for watching.
Thanks for the video. But I must say I don't think it is a good example to use a wise grip as counter hold. The cam bolt is very tight so you were putting a lot of twisting force on the camshaft. I would advice anyone to counterhold at the cam sprocket wheel using some camshaft sprocket counter holding tool.
What you are measuring with the gauge is pump lift. If you let go of the pump wheel it will simply slide back to zero on the gauge. That would not hurt a thing.. So there was no upside to locking up the pump before undoing the cam bolt... the last thing you'd want is some of that cambolt torque to transfer to the locked up pump.
I only lock the pump when it is set at the correct prelift. Then I set the tensioner and roller in a middle setting and carefully tighten the camshaft bolt (with counter hold). Then I release the pump lock before fully tightening the camshaft bolt (I think mine was 100 nm).
100% agree with you. If I had a cam holding tool I would of used it.
nice and clean. Small update, just finishing my timing and according to FSM camshaft weel bolt on pump side 160Nm.
Thanks for watching
Hi mate, I recently had the two belts replaced on my T4 2.5 TDI, it’s now making a rattling noise, it’s going to a VW specialist next week, could the rattling be due to the diesel pump out of time? Or cambelt a tooth out? It doesn’t do it all of the time, most noticeable around 1100rpm.
Cheers 👍
Check crank damper for splits/movement you can't always see it but it's a metallic noise sounds awful. good luck 🍀
Hey I did the timing from this vid, van sounds great plenty if power but a bit smoky following the belt change, can this be sorted with the vag computer? I've checked it 2 times seems OK? Where in Ireland are you based? Would love to get mine DOE done and start my camper build!
You might be able to make a fine adjustment on vcds for the smoke but, on older diesels it can sometimes just be the nature of the beast.
Are u based in dub? Would you be able to look at it or recommend anyone to look at it?
@@Davegt535 sorry pal I appreciate the offer but I can’t help you with that.
No bod ty 😊
I just use vagcom to adjust pump timing when it running
Of course! That’s the best way to fine tune it after manually adjusting the pump.
Mate what the number on that dial gauge part number . Were in Ireland are u from
Don’t see a part number on it but I left a link in the description to where I bought it from.
Im doing one at minute what size is that adjuster that inside pump is it an allen key
did you adjust with the vcde later?
Checked it, there was no need to adjust on vcds.
@@shedworxxx you mean you didnt need to use the vcds or there is no option?

whats the timming setting for a 2.5 is it the same
This engine is a 2.5.
Where do you get the gauge from
Check the pinned comments bro, I posted a link.
I can i do this without the dial gauge please
Thanks for watching friend.
Unfortunately the most accurate way to adjust the pump is with the dial gauge…
Bonjour
Pouvez vous me donner les côtes de l'outil de calage de l'arbre à cames s'il vous plaît ? Merci.
No I don’t sorry but here is a link where you can purchase. Maybe they might be able to answer your question.

Ciao Do you think that the adjustment of the AA 2.5 5-cylinder naturally aspirated engine is the same procedure ?
I’m not familiar with that engine but I would hazard a guess that it’s very similar
