Oh for heaven's sake... is this woman a genius or what??!! Thank you Helen. 🙏 🤗
You are amazing. I hope you have a happy life while you enjoy your gift.
This is so helpful because it gets me to think outside the box. What is possible vs what is the “suppose to” do kind of thinking.
Thank you!
Fun fUn. Great idea to keep a doodle diary...i’ll have to start one and make a cover similar to yours...great inspiration. Thank you
You amaze me..and have inspired me to try again to fmq..you make it look soo easy
Thank you.
Hi Helen from Australia! I'm Margaret from New Zealand and I am really enjoying your videos thank you - and learning a lot! :D
Your welcome.
I SO love your videos!💓 I just hope Handiquilter keeps you on! I've learned so much from you! You are natural teacher...that's from a retired Elementary teacher!
Well I do have a degree in education as you do.
You are absolutely incredible Helen your work is way more than quilting you create pieces of artwork
Thank you indeed.
Thank you from a huge fan!
Helen, your videos are wonderful. Very clear, encouraging and inspiring. I hope Handi Quilter keeps this resource available for a long time. G'day to you!
Thank you David.
Thanks Helen....!!! Learning so much!
Such a great project! Very cute, and fun too. I wonder how these paints would hold up for garments. Designs like these would be so cute on a jacket or sweatshirt or something. Hmmm... So many possibilities! Thank you Handi Quilter and Helen Godden! Happy Wednesday everyone!
Check out Helen's website. She has classes with the Lumiere paints. I've done some of them and loved them.
Totally. These paints are designed for fabric. Washable completely. Paint tshirts fabric shoes leather. Anything.
Absolutely gorgeous!!
Thank you
This is something that really interests me. Thanks for sharing your ideas. I'm going to give it a try.
Go girl.
Again! Mind Blown! You inspire me and make so many fancy stitches look so doable! I need to step up my practices.
Practise practise and then do some practise
Just beautiful! So inspiring!
So glad I found this video! I thought my machine didn't like sewing on the Lumiere paints, as it did exactly what you described - the stitches wouldn't lie flat and it made a funny clicky noise - now I'm going to do more of it! thank you
Yeah. I have stitched over Lumiere for years. I have many online classes with it too. Check out helengodden.com
Thank you Helen. Very timely advice as I am just quilting my rooster (late, I know) and had been wondering about the tension.
Yes it looks different when stitching on the painted surface.
Beautiful
Lovely!
That is so beautiful.
Great job. You are really a master of your craft. Thanks!
Thank you indeed.
Awesome! Inspiring, you make it look so easy & oh so much fun!
Thank you.
I love this project... Great idea and lovely design!
Love it .It has imspired me to try andmake my very own. Thank You.
I love the Lumiere paints too. Once ironed before you start the stitching it makes the fabric look and feel like it's satin.
Yes looks like silk and satin.
If you paint a patchwork style design people think you are super clever and have pieced satin fabric.
Wish we were neighbors 🥰
Красиво вышло! И машина супер!
I love watching you quilt. This was very fascinating. I never thought about painting on fabric this way. You mentioned you painted on black fabric but what kind of fabric is this. Also how do you set the paint to make it permanent & can you wash the fabric if you did this on a quilt that is being used?
The paint is permanent and washable. Simply iron once it has dried. Use cheap homespun fabric. I hang my finished quilts.
It was painted on black cotton. It is fabric paint and designed for this purpose. I iron to prepare the sandwich which also heat sets the paint. Totally washable. I have many online classes for beginners to painting this technique on my website. Www.helengodden.com
Helen Godden Quilts thank you for the information. I will definitely be giving this a try.
Is it just black cotton you paint on and do you prime it first? Definitely going to try this as it might make me use the sketch pad more🤣😂
Black homespun, the cheaper black cottons work better. No priming necessary, the Lumiere paints are opaque and cover well with one coat.
Jacqui Boyd and don’t wash the fabric first.
Just black cotton. Chez not r pensive. Don’t prewash. I have online classes for you. Try this one. Painting and quilting videos to create an entire quilt. helengodden.com/product/quirky-collections-bom-2017-once-only-joining-fee/
how do you get the calico black
With dyes
Wouldn’t that make a lovely handbag.
Well in this case it made a doodle diary cover but yes, make a handbag.

I hear the click click of the needle in the painted surface, it's sounds like my machine when I need a new needle...lol
👏👏👏🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🇦🇺
I quite like the sound.
