'Midnight Masquerade' Penstemon - bit.ly/2t5e5Rq This is the fertilizer I used when I planted it - amzn.to/30YIqDO Subscribe to Our Main Channel - / gardenanswer
They are beautiful! I love updates like this so I can get a better idea of how the plant will grow and look after a few years. I hope I can find some of this variety to put in my own garden.
Me too!!! I just bought 2 of this exact Penstemon for my grown daughter who's new to gardening. She has no idea how much she will end up loving these plants! What an adventure!!! And THIS video of an updated, full grown, specimen is going to help my daughter visualize her garden!! Thank You Laura for this video!!! ♡♡♡
I LOVE THESE KINDS OF VIDEOS. I also love how you point out the things that make the plants beautiful beyond just the flower etc. Like the structure of the bloom. The seed pods etc. If everyone could just slow down and pay attention to all the beautiful details that surround us we would be a whole different world.
Laura, thank you for the update on this beautiful perennial, I will definitely be on the lookout for that plant! I hope your entire family is staying safe and healthy, God Bless. ~Margie
I love this video. Just you standing there passionately talking about one specific type of plant. You inspire me to keep going on my gardening journey.
I planted this PW Midnight Masquerade last Fall ... only ONE plant and it's SO glorious. It's on my list to plant even MORE of in my gardens. Love it! 🥰
love seeing them mature!! just like your parent's garden that looks so different and full. love your garden too, feels like starting our own the same time with yours and plants all grow together but this is great short video! please do more if you can. :) no stress. lol
I found a Wheee Hosta plant today and was excited to see an unusual plant that "Laura from CZcams" showed all of us. I haven't put it in the ground yet (soil is like cement, no rain) but will keep it watered and hopefully the deer won't find it.
More plant SPOTLIGHTS, please! Love this bit of detailed info on a specific established plant in your garden. Inspires me to try this plant and gives me an idea of how it will look in my garden. Very helpful video!!
I have these with white flowers and burgundy leaves. I didnt know they were called penstemon, I just went by the sellers tag of "Red Bearded Tongue Huskers". One of mine is in a full sun area and the other in part sun. The full sun does much better and I have been amazed at the growth on both of them!
Thank you Laura! Such a helpful video! I love to purchase plants that you have grown and share with us!!! Another great SHOW AND TELL!!! Sherry Knoxville
I have the same one!!! They are beautiful. I have broken mine up to get more plants. They are all doing well!! Love watching you Laura. I have gotten so many idea's from you ❣🥰
I love this concept Laura. You are right, it is difficult to discern how a mature plant will eventually look in the garden, especially when you purchase a quart or smaller plant at the nursery. I hope you will do more of these. Thank you
Hi Laura loved you your short video today. Love this plant l have some in my garden and it's beautiful its one of the plants year after year l wait for to bloom and every year its worth the wait. yours are beautiful xxxx
No wonder you are doing short and sweet videos 🤪 hope the construction noise won’t last too long. Love this plant , haven’t tried them here in France yet but might just give it a try now 😎🇫🇷❤️
I luv the name of this Penstemon & how big it’s gotten, it’s already putting up a show. And it’s going to grow taller! It’s going to be a masquerade of a show!😁
This is a great idea for a video and greatly appreciated. I often wonder what happens to plants in your garden and have go sieve through the tours. Thanks for this!
My daughter dug some up in her new back yard and shared them with me. I am loving them! You are so right when you say the seed pods are beautiful too! I have left mine alone and am thoroughly enjoying them. Can't wait to see them next year!
Thanks SO MUCH for featuring this plant after it is more mature. Hope you will do this often with many different plants. And thanks for all the details about it, and your opinions based on your experience with it. Once again, a great video.
Adore your videos. You always give so much information I need to know about so many varieties of plants.... I don’t even “google” plant info anymore.... I just look to see if you have a video out about it 😀. Thanks for what you do. I have learned SO MUCH from you ❤️
I’m so excited that you posted this video. I bought two penstemons two years ago and the deer got them before they could bloom. This year I put repellent on them and they bloomed beautifully but I forgot what they were 😨. So I used my plant app to identify them and was thrilled to find out they were penstemon because I’ve heard you talk about them often. I just cut the spent bloom stalks and now wish I hadn’t. Oh well maybe they will re bloom!
Thank you so much! One of my biggest struggles is imagining what things will look like at maturity. This was very helpful and I'm looking forward to more videos like this! 🤗😊
Me three but I bought 2 (there was a sale and that’s all they had!) I got the onyx and pearls kind which gets up to 42” high and apparently will survive zone 3 winter temps. I like its dark contrast in my perennial bed. It’s looking good so far!
I planted 3 this year in early spring they where smaller grew very quickly & are so WONDERFUL now i have hummingbird & more bees on that side of the house ♥just what i wanted enjoy
I am so jealous of how many of your perennials have busted out so well this year, Laura! We had two cold snaps here in Denver in April (also Zone 5 with horrible clay soil -- I feel your pain, sistah!) where we got down to 18 degrees and all of my roses and other plants that were ready to rock got severely crippled with their growth. My 2-year-old Electric Blue Penstemon still looks like a seedling. 😞 I have added a bit more Biotone to it, so I hope that helps. At least I can see your garden and be happy. Thanks, girl and to Messieurs Aaron, Benjamin and Russell, too! xoxo Christine in sunny CO 😊🌞
I planted three of these last fall after seeing them in your videos :) They came back strong this spring and look amazing right now. I’m in zone 6 Columbus, Ohio.
I planted one of those this year to see how they do before investing in more. So far I'm loving it. I bought bare root and was surprised how fast it grew.
They are beautiful! I love updates like this so I can get a better idea of how the plant will grow and look after a few years. I hope I can find some of this variety to put in my own garden.

Thank u for teaching me about this plant. And dont worry about the background noise. We just tune it out :)
No views yet??!! I’m the first! I just love Penstemon!💕 I love showing mature vs. what they looked like when planted! Great idea
i'm just starting to experiment with this plant. They actually overwintered in my zone 7 garden after planting them in the late fall.
How awesome to be someone moving in next to Laura. She's friendly, plus she creates an amazing view.
Stunning! love all the videos
Thanks for adding one more candidate to my “check it out” list. :)
I love these videos that focus on one plant that I might not be familiar with! I think I have just the place for that! Thank you!
Two in one day! Yay! Love them.
I planted white pentstemon last year for the first time and really enjoyed them!!
I love these little informative clips. They are truly helpful!! Thank you.
I planted this PW Midnight Masquerade last Fall ... only ONE plant and it's SO glorious. It's on my list to plant even MORE of in my gardens. Love it! 🥰
I finally know what my plant is, yay! I have enjoyed this plant, know I know the name.
Gosh they do look pretty grouped for a big look! Definitely a change!😁
Love seeing videos like this! Thanks for showing us your pretty penstemon.
Good morning ♪ Thank you for the wonderful gardening video 👌👍♡
What a great video to do, showing folks what their little one will grow up to be. Great idea!
love seeing them mature!! just like your parent's garden that looks so different and full. love your garden too, feels like starting our own the same time with yours and plants all grow together but this is great short video! please do more if you can. :) no stress. lol
Thanks for sharing the progress of your plants. It’s very helpful for deciding whether I want to use them in my garden. Have a great weekend.
They're beautiful...I need to get some of those😁💕

Wonderful detail, Laura, thank you. wonderful.
Absolutely gorgeous Laura!
Dont worry that house will be up before you even know it.
The noise isnt horrible. It wont bother any of us :) were in it for the long haul.
Love having updates on flowers you planted. 😊
I love that plant! Thanks for sharing!

It's lovely.
I just got one and sm going to plant it this evening. I hope mine is as beautiful as yours in a few years.
I remember the video you planted these in, I loved the noise when you were pulling off the crunchy leaves before you planted
Wow I really love the color and tiny bell like flowers! I need to get some for the hummingbirds 😍
I seriously check a few times a day for new videos. They seriously helped during the shelter in place and after.
Beautiful!😀
No wonder you are doing short and sweet videos 🤪 hope the construction noise won’t last too long. Love this plant , haven’t tried them here in France yet but might just give it a try now 😎🇫🇷❤️
Perfect timing, I am planning to go get these tomorrow! I know my garden center has them in stock.
Thank you for this video. I would not have thought they would be so pretty in a mass! I have some creamy pink single plants but now I will plant more!
That’s just what I want: to see the plants develop and establish themselves. Muchas gracias

God sure creates the most amazing flowers!! Looks so beautiful!!!
Thank you! I didn’t think I could grow those in my cold climate. Remind me again your favorite boxwoods there..... they are also gorgeous.
Pretty! Thanks for the video.😃
I just planted one and enjoyed seeing what the bloom will be. Only planted one to see how it does. Glad to hear all the information. Thanks so much.

Beautiful thanks for always sharing
I bought that one this year because my youngest daughter liked it.
One of the best things you’ve done is added another channel and post on both regularly! We love having 2 videos in 1 day 😁
I need to add these to my garden😊
Beautiful ! Placement Of A Butterfly House In This Garden Space, Would Be Sweet.
I just planted my first Penstemon. Wasn't sure if I was going to like it so I only bought one. I will be going back for more!
Me too! I just made the same comment before seeing yours. I'll definitely be getting more.

Look for Dark Towers, the flowers are a little more pink. I am loving it.
Just happened to buy one today! Now I wish I bought a couple more. Next trip! 😁
