They sure made it work in AEW
But it's not WrestleMania
@@outlaw._.lazinesbetter than fastlane
it's not WRESTLEMANIA
@@NegronAngel2828 IT'S NOT WRESTLEMANIA
@@DeadShot-eh6su it doesn’t need mania as we seen in that great match
They ended up doing it at Double or Nothing.
Is Double or Nothing, the AEW equivalent of Wrestlemania? If not, which PPV is it?
Not even touching WrestleMania
@PLUX4 i think All In is aews wrestlemania
@@PLUX4 all out,
Double or Nothing is WrestleMania Backlash
Fyter Fest is Summer Slam/ Fast Lane
@@PLUX4they don’t have one MASSIVE PPV’s like Wrestlemania they like 4-5 PPV’s across the whole year which are all as big as one another
That AEW match was such a emotional rollercoaster for fans.
If Cody wins at Wrestlemania, Dustin deserves to come out or wait for him at the ramp for their Dad.
Has goldust been inducted yet? I believe he should be if not
For what people are really out of touch
@@carlossosa1359 what does that mean exactly?
I'm sure he will be
Dustin is winding down. He might be out of aew by then so it seems very possible.
That family deserved that moment! Period
Yes, but screwing over the Rhodes family was one of Vince's favorite pastimes
@@willlofland3559 no joke it was. Because The American Dream stood for the indies. And now he son does!
@@willlofland3559how were they screwed out over? The Rhodes brothers had a great storyline against The Shield in late 2013
@@ITSHIM1294 look at the gimmicks Dustys sons were given. Lack of world title for goldust! Come one man.
@@leadwithlove7657 Cody nailed every gimmick he was given to him. People still talk about his dashing/disfigured gimmicks till this day. And imagine giving the world title to GOLDUST! in the late 90’s. The IC belt was good for him
Matt vs Jeff I quit match is one of the best matches I’ve seen, the both played there sides fucking awesome
Wasn’t their mania match unfortunately
Both matches were legendary also Matt got a huge mania win
Is this the match where Matt burned Jeff's house down with his dog in it? I know there was a storyline like that back then.
@@navtektv yea loll
weasel heel matt taped to the table trying to talk Jeff down referencing their dad in heaven and stuff was great , I think that version of Matt is criminally underrated
I was in the crowd for their AEW match and it's easily the my favorite wrestling moment the atmosphere in the building during that match was intangible
And where did that go? And how’s that working for both of them? AEW is a Joke
Dustin Rhodes is one if the best workers of all time. He is great in the ring and worked Goldust better than anyone could ever have done. His "shocked goldust" wad some of the most comical work ever seen in the business.
Growing up I thought he was just a weird side character but seeing him for the first time when he was working with stardust I was like this dude is one is if the best wrestlers in the business today
@@tertiarywitness4010When guys like Roddy Piper, Undertaker and Lesnar complemented Dustin’s professionalism and hard work, you know the guy is legit. Should be in the HOF imo?
@@crazyralph6386 oh yeah he’ll get in
😊@@crazyralph6386
They better give Rey and Dominik a 1v1 match at Wrestlemania. Like, it’s legitimately a giant waste of time and character building if they don’t have a father vs son match on the grandest stage.
I mean I kind of assumed that's what all this was building but then again I've been wrong before.
@@anthonyanderson9303 The Sami Zayn/Roman storyline might not end with Sami and Roman facing in a 1v1 match at Wrestlemania, so I just don’t know what they’re gonna do anymore. I wish they were doing Cena vs Edge but instead they’ll probably do Finn vs Edge and Cena vs Austin Theory.
@@TylerG13 they've been hinting at Austin Theory vs Cena for months now so that makes sense. I could care less about Edge vs Finn in fact I wished that storyline was over by now. Even if they brought Demon Balor back I'm just over it.
It's an interesting storyline but it almost seems like they set it up just to do comedy skits
You mean like Star Wars. Luke vs. Vader.....
Owen Vs. Bret at X is still the greatest opening Mania match of all time.
I was going to make the same comment! As a kid I was so invested in Bret and Owen's feud! They were great wrestlers and storytellers!
WM 11's allied pow vs blues bros says "hold my beer"
Literally the first thing I was thinking when I heard “brother vs brother”
Their wrestlemania moment was in awe together. Amd they did it right, and the crowd loved it.
Still not WrestleMania.
@@hugolohace8199it won't be so great when Vince gets convicted of rape
Might still be my favorite AEW moment
And where did that go? And how’s that working for both of them? AEW is a Joke
@@drawer6815 why can't you like both companies?
One of the best matches ive ever seen
@@spider35manduh9it's okay, hes a joke 😂 his wrestling promotion is unheard of so him calling AEW a joke is hilarious. Try and make a better one buddy
@@spider35manduh9 why? That moment was great and they peaked right then and there. And Tony Khan listened way too much to the indie mark crowd as in the Young Bucks camp, and his company is ruined now because of it. They ruined sth that had so much potential. THAT's why I hate it
The Matt and Jeff match at Wrestlemania was solid but they cut a fuck ton of time off of it so they had to try and do so damn much in so little time
Yea which is a shame because the did an excellent job builing up the story, even including real life shit like Jeff's house fire and his dog dying, then Matt costing him the world title at Elimination Chamber by helping Edge of all people which was crazy considering their history. then the match came along and just pfffftttt. The match at Extreme Rules the following month was better tho.
Damn! The only one I knew about was at Vengeance 2001- I forgot that they did it again...
@@anthonyanderson9303 As a 10 year old during their 2009 feud, I was disgusted at Matt for allegedly killing Jeff’s dog. I just couldn’t comprehend one brother turning against the other like that. Lots of people crap on it but like you said, the build up was well done and they wound up having some good matches
@@maxb4210 Add to that, by that point they were established as one of the best tag teams ever. You were too young at the time, but if you haven't already done so please go back watch their legendary tlc matches with the dudes and edge & Christian.
@@anthonyanderson9303 he turned on Jeff at Rumble not EC. I have it on DVD lol
That Double or Nothing Match between the two brothers was Great too
Dustin is looking more and more like his dad, as the years go by lol
God bless Virgil Runnels, and the legacy he left behind.
*Owen vs Bret has entered the chat*
...along with Kane and Undertaker! 🤣🤣🤣
@@MatTech101 they’re not real brothers
I was reading at the subtext first. At that point, I thought it was the undertaker talking until only I saw it was the elder brother.
the WWE never gave dustin what he deserved. the fans absolutely adored goldust & that brother vs brother match would’ve been epic if done properly, especially if dusty was still around when they did it. the rhodes family is one of the greatest wrestling families if u ask me
I totally agree The American dream and the nature boy, and the enforcer AA NOW THAT WAS WRESTLING IF YOU LIVED IN THE SOUTH IN THE 80'S
Dustin looks so much like his dad I remember meeting dusty and Dustin back in 2001 I was 7 and they where so nice
Matt vs Jeff was an insane angle what is he talking about. One of the most memorable feuds of that era
Love how he side stepped the Heart brothers.
Best brother vs brother ever.
I remember watching Dustin and Cody going at it in their gimmicks against each other a couple months after fastlane in 2015 in one of the European tour shows and it was PERFECT
It was a hell of a way to open up AEW and it is a match that will be Legend. there may not be an AEW at some point. but that Event will always be legendary and will still be talked about. The biggest match and highlight being Cody and Dustin.
The Hardy compound match was sick
I loved golddust back in the day, multiple times tag champ, always entertaining to watch and really sold the character
Dustin was VERY underrated. They painted him and wasted him.
He still a wrestling icon. Everybody knows golddust.
Now it's you showing up vs the bloodline to have his back.
Bro i swear as he gets older he looks just like his dad, he even has the same eye bags and everything 👀
Minutes the cap pulled down to his nose lol
If A Cody V Dustin Happened In WWE That Match Could Sell Out A Building
So glad I was there for Fast Lane. Such an incredible experience
Cody and Dustin are two of the best. I hope jey va jimmy lives up to that standard
We need this match and Dustin winning
One of the greatest matches I’ve ever seen beautiful bloody match and commentate it by JR
Man didnt want to say bret vs owen, which is a classic
20-25 minute matches? I highly doubt that they were given that much match time, even on house shows.
Most underrated and underused wrestler in wwe history
Their match at aew is one of my favorites.
Bret vs Owen was the greatest brother feud.
He forgot to add it was done with Owen and Brett at WM. That was a great match.
I remember their match in AEW a few years ago one of the greatest one on one matches
Id loved to see that I seen the brothers team up at smack down in Greensboro,NC Dustin you was looking best you ever been ever! Added the Roll of the apron. You was youthful . I’ve always thought you run the ring better then anyone your generation class! I’ve always thought you was world title contender. But understand why it never came bout . But man you can and still run that ring better then anyone I’ve seen in a long time and I mean since Golden era. Maybe Jake The Snake . 89 up it was you man!
This dude is carrying last month's groceries in those bags under his eyes!🤣
give the belt to Cody and have stardust take it lmao
Cody vs Dustin at double or nothing was match of the year. And to this day, I guarantee Vince still thinks "he was better as Starrrrrrrdust!"
Bret vs Owen is the best brother v brother rivalry in wrestling history!
Matt vs Jeff at mania was one of the best matches ever wtf is he talking about I loved that twist of fate on the chair
Cody vs Dustin at Double or Nothing was by far one of the greatest matches of the decade
Best brother brother match ever. Hell that match is a match to show someone who don’t like wrestling.
The first match they in AEW was awesome. One of the best matches I ever saw after I stopped watching wrestling. Also the last match I saw.
Believe it or not, Cody & Dustin have great chemistry.
Now it's the best time for you guys. I bet I'll be on next year 2024 wrestlemania.
He looks so much like his dad
Bret & Owen were the bet brother rivalry ever
Definitely made it work
Dustin doesn't get the recognition he deserves sometimes.
I remember Fantasy Booking the match in my head. Wrestlemania, Cody as Stardust who claims Cody is dead. But Goldust knows his brother is fighting this personality in the back of his mind. And so he challenges him to a match at Wrestlemania as not Goldust. But as "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes to remind Cody that under the gold paint was his elder brother. And as the match progresses Dustin aims his attack at the face paint and wins with the Cross Rhodes finisher. Stardust would get up slowly and head to the announcer desk where he would grab both a bottled water and a towel and wipe what was left of the Stardust facepaint. Bam. That's how you book that brother vs brother feud.
Their AEW match was better and more memorable than it ever would have been at WrestleMania.
I love the Rhodes
So glad he was proven wrong about the moment having passed. It was the quintessential AEW match for the first few years. Hell, it still might be. It’s perfect in this role because it’s the match WWE had no interest in putting on and then they went out and proved how viable it truly was as a show stealing match. Even with Cody back in WWE and hopefully about to win the big one at Mania, this match will always be the most important match in AEW’s first five years of operation.
I respect Dustin Rhodes and his Goldust character was great.
the better brother IMHO.
Hardys i thought was one of the best brother feuds
Its imo the best match aew has ever had
Should book this match for WM40 whilst putting Dustin into HOF
I think the fact that you got the match at all shows how the higher ups knew it was special and knew how bad you wanted it so they found a way to fit it in. I doubt your getting wrestlemania to begin with without a substantial build.
Should’ve mentioned Bret and Owen those where the greatest brothers matches of all time
I watched the nwo. Legends twice. They did a good job with it. 💯
I always assumed they were gonna get a rematch at Mania but it never happened because the finish was botched
That would be awesome. I would still want to see that
I beg to differ Matt n Jeff hardy were phenomenal in three tone as brothers high flying TLC matches
Dustin v Cody with their Dad at ringside would have been a hell of a Wrestlemania match. Would have showcased how underrated they both were years ago. WWE dropped the ball on a lot of obvious matches
They should’ve done it when Codys gimmick was Stardust imo because it made sense for it to be Goldust v Stardust since his gimmick was trying to follow his brothers footsteps
I loved Matt VS Jeff & I would’ve loved if they held off Edge VS Christian & Stardust VS Goldust at Wrestlemania as well
That should be his final match
As iconic as gold dust was, he could have been a huge star without a big gimmick. The pedigree, look, talent etc
No it’s not past yet you sir are still doing amazing work in the ring and promos are soooo good it can still happen
Still the best match AEW have put on
Matt and Jeff was iconic. Love Dustin but he capping.
They sure proved the system wrong
The heartbroken baby brother storyline would have worked well
I HOPE he can make a surprise appearance at this WrestleMania, and fight off the Bloodline to help Cody get the win.
That would have been an awesome match at WrestleMania
That would have been awesome like Owen vs Bret at Wrestlemania X.
I seen them on that European tour in Newcastle. Best match I've ever seen live. It went on first and stole the show.
I know that they did it in AEW and in my opinion it was the best match in the history of of the company… the Story, The build and the match! So great! But man I would looooove to see Cody and Dustin do something at Mania together!! I think it could still work! Cody is a way bigger name than he was when they were both in WWE and Dustin is Dustin He is just great always has been! at the Very least I need to see GoldDust come out at a Royal Rumble and eventually finish his career in WWE as “The Natural”
I just realized how much Dusty looks like Jerome Flynn (Bronn from Game of Thrones)
That AEW first fight between them was amazing. Cant believe they had that talent in Goldust and wwe just wasted it
a PERFECT Hollywood ending would be for the night before Mania Dustin gets inducted into the Hall of Fame, and Cody beats Roman for the WWE Title with him there, accomplishing the ONE THING their father never did.
Should’ve happen at WM 28 , they dropped the ball on that one
Myah myah myah.
GoldDust should help cody at Mania
No he belongs in aew they treating him right
You realize there is another company called AEW that he works for right?
"NOTHING IS WRESTLEMANIA" I agree Dustin, and Cody should've won there.
If he show up to help his brother at wrestlemania the crowd will lose they shit
I saw it in Bournemouth England at the Bic 🤣🤣
You gotta think stardust vs golddust isn't a Mania match. But cody vs dustin is... and we seen how good it was .
and then they had a 5 star classic in AEW.
little did he know it was gonna happen
Honestly, I think it’s better that it happened at Double or Nothing 2019. Getting a WrestleMania match is nice and all, but I doubt it would have been one of the biggest matches on the card. But Double or Nothing 2019, AEW’s first PPV, having a match like that, a match that basically set the tone for the first new major American wrestling promotion in nearly 2 decades, that’s integral to a company’s history. That’s something to always look back on, whereas it probably would have been an afterthought when people looked back at that WrestleMania due to them being in the midcard. It could be bigger now if Dustin goes back there when his AEW contract is up with Cody as the WWE Champion, but if it’s down to the past potential WrestleMania match or Double or Nothing 2019, I’d take Double or Nothing every time for the significance.
Didn't they fk up the Fastlane match finish tho? I remember both of them just looking clueless and lost as the bell rang. I think after that if there was a chance for a Mania match, it was blown away
Was coming to say this - that Fastlane match was the drizzling… anyway, I’m glad they got to run it back with the absolutely stellar match they had at Double or Nothing
Would've been a great match hell could've made cody or Goldust the Heavyweight at the time and we would've had Goldusts hardworking pay off with a wrestlemania win and Title
